Marklinofsweden posted this technique over 7 years ago. It's neat to see how many RU-vid crafters have used his techniques and taken it in so many directions; though very few seem to give him the credit. Your video dialog sounded the same. I love reading the comments, so many helpful suggestions and improvements people experiment with work well. Love the five layer technique. Think I will use that for a Guadalcanal board.
Clear nail polish harder at the dollar store works great for clear coating the ones with a blue tint also work the same they dry clear with way less effort and time than this varnish takes and it drys pretty fast I use it on my water elementals and ice golems to take foggyness out of the plastic minis and it doesn't eat foam 1 bottle goes a long way
Thanks a lot! I’m going to try this for the diorama I want to make for the waterline Sharnhorst I just ordered. What color would you suggest using to simulate the deep ocean?
Yes, the glue becomes transparent once it’s dried! It makes the water seem just a little deeper because it fades the colours more. Thanks for you’re comment!
I don’t know for sure if clear nail polish works on this, but a lot of people told me it will. I might do a video with that method as well, but instead of waiting you could check out other RU-vidrs. The Brush I used was rather soft, so that no harsh lines appear. Important is that the brush is of a high quality and doesn’t lose its brushes. Thanks for you’re comment!
I bought a can of clear varnish for 9€ and Woodglue for 6€, then you still need toilet paper, a brush (wich you probably have) and off course the colours. I bought colours for around 10€. I didn’t even use have of the colours, woodglue and varnish, so I have enough for another project. All together the price was about 30€. Thanks for commenting!
