omg your friend often misunderstood your words haha,,,, like first time = pertama kali thin = tipis smell = bau (smells bad), harum/wangi (smells good) ------ smile = senyum terasi = indonesian dried shrimp paste (most foreigners dont like the smell haha) sasa (brand of msg) = msg aka micin salt = garam heavy = berat lesehan = “tradional” words in Indonesian Culture , like you sitting on the floor and eat some foods oncom = made by tofu residue. it has beans in it (u r right) kangkung = water spinach

Oncom it's made by tofu soybean pulp..after the soybean blended with blender you get the juice for makin tofu..and the pulp of the soybean you made for Oncom..the pulp fermented by mushrom Tumbuk: smash Bau: smells bad Harum: smells good Kangkung ; water spinach Terasi: shrimp paste..after you smash the shrimp and add a salt in it..you dry it then you get the Terasi Sasa its a brand for MSG

Best thing about Silvy is she forced you to speak Bahasa. I didn't expect you can learn it really fast. Also, that traditional sundanese culture (smashing the pepper) is very rare to be seen on RU-vid, especially from foreigners, and you show your enthusiasm about it, even there's language barrier. This is why I watch your vlogs, you have one thing humanity needs the most, Empathy.

The basic ingredients for sambal are chili and salt. The rest you can get improvise. But here are other sambal ingredients that commons to add: -shrimp paste -tomato -garlic -shallots -coconut oil -fish -msg -vinegar -lime -sugar -mango

Thin = tipis Smell = bau = nioi in Japanese (she thought you were saying smile, which means senyum) Terasi = shrimp paste Penyedap rasa = flavour enhancer = MSG Heavy = Omoi = Berat (Berat can also means weigh depends on the context) Lesehan = sitting on a carpet while folding both of your feet on it Oncom = byproduct of soybeans fermented using different kind of yeast from tempe Kangkung = Morning Glory Lalap = any kind of raw veggies served to eat with sambal and rice So she made sambal using salt, sugar, shrimp paste and MSG Steph coba makan jengkol di restaurant Republik Jengkol. Lots of foreigners actually can eat jengkol from that place because they cook it properly I dare you. Hahaha

ur friend kinda missheard or just didn't understand english really well, so let me put this here first time : pertama kali face : wajah / muka thin : tipis smell : bau smells good : bau nya enak garlic = bawang putih onion = bawang merah shrimp paste = terasi penyedap rasa = MSG garam = salt everyday = setiap hari like it a lot = suka sekali / banget heavy = berat lesehan was kinda like when you eat some food by sitting on the floor and eat it in small/low table and the veggie was called kangkung, and oncom was related to tempeh, both are foods fermented using mold and lalab was sunda language, it means was kinda similiar to salad but veggies i like this vid, its funny, and you looks cute with hijab xD
