Making Silicone Babies - Painting a Silicone Baby (Part 1) 

Me too. I’m 38 and had everything taken out, no kids. I only found out about this world after seeing someone in Costco with a baby and I had a meltdown. I didn’t know they existed in this level of beauty, but also I didn’t know it was OK to have / want one. I saved my $ every chance I had and used credit to get one. I was elated. I didn’t know how I’d react once I had him in my hands. I cried, I laughed, I talked to him. It’s a mix bag for sure. Some days it helps more than anything, only a few days it makes me sad for what I couldn’t have. Overall, it was a great decision for my mental health. Even after watching so many box opening’s and all the online groups, I was reluctant to tell or show anyone my baby. But when I did, I was SO supported. I wish you well and hope you get your dream baby someday soon. 🖤

I’m now learning to paint silicone babies .I make the cloth body reborns. Learning how to paint a silicone is a whole new ball game for me .

Platsil 00 is equal to Ecoflex 30 so is harder than Ecoflex 10. Don’t use Platsil gel 10 as that is much harder, it is measured on the A scale which is harder than the 00 scale. Both Ecoflex and Platsil (also dragonskin) cute milky white but are completely transparent when used thinned down as a paint.

@@CarolynDoughtyDolls Oooh, I see! I had forgotten about the A hardness thing, oopsie. Thank you so much. That clears up reading the numbers. So, do you recommend I use Platsil 00 with Ecoflex 10? Or would it be too hard and create a shell or skin over the silicone which would feel bad over the softness of ecoflex10? I want to make sure I buy the right one and not end up making the kiddo feel weird to the touch, do not want softshell baby. :( Ty so much for your help. 🥰

Ironroseadorables personal collection yes there are vinyl gloves that are totally latex free you can use those but don’t get the powdered ones in case the powder affects the cure of the silicone

maggie weiler I don’t know, worth a try but I would try it out on a practice piece of silicone first

LITTLE REBEL you don’t buy a mould you have to sculpt the baby yourself in clay then make a mould from it.

@@CarolynDoughtyDolls wowyou have to make mold for each type of baby

vexi vex yes and for every mould you may get 10 - 20 babies out before it breaks down. It’s an expensive process which is why silicone babies are so expensive. The mould making isn’t what takes the time you can make a mould in a week, it’s the sculpting of the baby that takes the time it can take months to sculpt a full baby

Sorry Carolyn I meant to mention before I intend putting the paint on my partial (I have been trying different ways but ONLY in the one of the palette wells it always comes out gooey thinker but I got up the other morning and went to wipe the well clean only to discover that out of the several attempts it had actually cured I made sure there was nothing latex as always,but even at that that shouldn't be right,should it? And each time I used a different color of paint as I only have the 7 color beginners set 1/2 ounce jars

I use acetone after pouring to remove all traces of the waxy release agent but I don’t use it during the painting process
