After the first 3 or 4 rounds my vines are breaking. They are fresh picked yesterday but still becoming brittle. I have so many loose ends now I'm thinking I should just take it apart and do it over. Part of the problem seems to be that the extra piece of wood is not staying parallel with the one on either side of it. I'm using muscadine vine. It has alot of nodes. I'm not sure whether that is causing a problem too, if the vine I'm using is too thick (most of it is about as thick as a string of licorice or a little thicker).

Very interesting. Do the vines have to be dried then soaked before weaving or can you use fresh cut vines?

Can you weave your baskets with fresh wisteria? Or do you need to dry it first? Does it shrink if it's still green?

I'd rather buy your baskets. :)
