How do you get the garage door to break the foundation? When I add a garage door, it just disappears into the foundation when I lower the elevation. The brick foundation is still there.

My split level has a garage at ground level and stud height 7' house is 22" higher and stud height 8' but I haven't been able to achieve this. Next step is to add a two story section to just one room. I will end up with three roofs at different heights but I can't do it. Neither can I get a gable roof that looks remotely normal. I result in two flat walls and two towering triangle walls. Has anyone tried to do a split level with a top story on only a part of the house?
