My dad taught me a very similar explosive trick to this one. However it's more dangerous as there is the potential for shrapnel. You need some matches, 2 small bolts and a nut thats the same size as the bolts. Scrape the heads off of a few matches and a bit of the striker srip. Screw the nut about halfway on to the bolt. Take the powder you created and pour some into the container that this creates. Screw the other bolt into the other end of the nut until it's kind of squeezing the powder. Pick it up by the head of one of the bolts and fire it at a hard surface with a good amount of force. Please do not actually do this as it may very well result in having a bolt fired at your face.

You have to be very careful with that though because its easy for the friction of you packing them into the ball to set it off My cousin apparently tried to do the same thing with a pvc pipe as a teenager and it went off as he was packing it. Thankfully it wasnt that big so he was fine but it couldve been bad

When we were kids, we'd snap the heads off a box of strike anywhere matches, put them into baggie, then wrap them (extremely carefully) with a whole roll of electrical tape (the kind with fiber in it). Just throw it and hit something hard. Much louder, and more dangerous, with flying lit match heads. Never tried the tennis ball one, but sounds like it would work quite well.

This is one of those anarchist cookbook type things, whether it was an internet improvised weapon or from the book I don't remember. I do remember there was also gas and styrofoam napalm, pool cleaner and break fluid bombs and PVC pipe bombs.

So, back in my younger years I had the Anarchist's Cookbook. We made something similar to this but WAAAAAY BETTER! We used tennis balls filled with the cut off heads of strike-anywhere matches. Used a hot glue gun to seal off the hole we drilled in the tennis balls. ***Do not apply hot glue directly to the ball once filled! Make a glob of hot glue on a butter knife or back of a spoon then press that into the hole. (On second thought, just use silicone and be patient lol)*** Ping pong balls will also work and burn up with the blast (also take way less time and material to fill. Safer to handle as well). I'd live to see you guys try this one. I know we had a blast with it (pun intended) when we were younger. Problem now is finding the strike-anywhere matches. They were everywhere when we were kids and hard to find now.

This pressure+match=boom subject reminds me of a story years ago, someone was leaving around taped up tennis balls filled with strike anywhere match heads and a dog got its face blown off by picking one up in its mouth, was skeptical it could do that damage but this vid makes me reconsider.

I tried this at my regular bar, which is in Wichita Falls, TX, called the Deep End it is a cozy little bar/ arcade, and only costs $5 to get in. The 40+ arcades are all on free play. They also have a variety of affordable beer (You can being your own liquor too)! Any who, the first one I made fired off, but didn't explode, it leaked through the corner. The second one had too much tape and wouldn't go off by throwing it. I decided to hit it will a hammer, and it exploded in my face. I'm ok, but I went deaf with ringing in my ears for about 2 minutes. It was awesome, 5 out of 5 stars, will try again!

OK you guys, here in the UK, get 2 x 2" bolts quite thick ones and a matching nut, screw one bolt in to the nut 1/2 way put a single match head in the nut, and carefully screw the second bolt in to the nut so that its tight. It should be bolt, nut, bolt sandwhich with the match head in the middle, DO THIS OUTSIDE!!!!!! throw the bolt on to the floor so that one of the ends of the bolts hits the floor. ITS LOUD!!!!

We used to make a version of this with a small box of strike anywhere matches, cut the striking strip off of the outer layer and place it inside against the match heads then tape together

The version of these I saw was from "Stalag 17" where a guy put a cigarette in a book of matches, it took 3 minutes for the cigarette to burn down long enough to light the matches, it then set a Nazi train car on fire and blew it up, fascinating. You can cut down the cigarette if you want it to work faster, it's just the fuse

That was amazing! However, I think adding that smoke slurry (sugar rocket/smoke bomb stuff) in a small amount by the match heads might make this 1000% more epic. Make that cliche magician/hooligan "throw smoke pellets on the ground for mystical smoke for a get-away" thing a reality!!!

I've worked with people that could screw this up bad enough to get hurt. Hell, I've gotten stuck trying to train some of them to use industrial machinery without grievous injury. Trust me, there are plenty of people out there that it's genuinely dangerous for them to do anything like this. And that's not counting the people without steady enough hands for this sort of semi-sensitive work.

Okay, so suspend disbelief and think about these working perfectly in a perfect scenario, and allowing that because they're ready and prepared, you've probably grown relatively proficient with chuckin' em at the right time. If someone was approaching you with intent to harm, ESPECIALLY in a dark/confined space, like an alley or random warehouse that you're obviously frequenting in this fairy tale, these could be super effective. That involuntary flinch could totally open the possibility to escape, or to diffuse the situation however you have to. If you're carrying, it could give you the second you need to draw unencumbered and safely. If you're decent at any chosen form of martial arts, well... You'd know how to handle the situation at that point better than I. I'm just saying there's options, guys! Options! As a self defense buffer it's incredibly cheap to make and easy to carry and I think that's neat. Hell no I'm not doing it, lol.

If you do it with strike anywhere match heads (not the sticks just the compound) and you get a good amount of them and wrap them up with masking tape and something like a penny it’s does the same thing but I’m pretty sure it’s louder and more explosive Edit: also oxy-acetylene water bottles are really cool, what I did is fill a water bottle with oxy-acetylene and wrapped firework fuse on the side or poke a small hole in the cap and tape it so no gas escapes, if you try the acetylene bottle be careful because they can take hands off

You can do the same thing, but by crushing the match heads into a powder and putting it in between two I-bolts held together with a big at the very tip. You just have enough room for some of the match head powder.

3:16 Electrical tape! That stuff works the best for this! You can pull many pounds of tension on it while wrapping and it makes for a super tight, very sealed unit. They can be a bitch to set off though if you go ham on the tape

In highschool me and my friends heard of a way to make bottle bombs with drain cleaner aluminum foil water and a plastic bottle. You combine the 3 close it shake it and trow it away when it gets a bit warm. Not save but it was fun
