Hi i am trying to prepare Hydrogel. I am using Starch, Acrylamide, Methylene bisacrylamide, Sodium hydroxide and Potassium persulfate (KPS) as ingredientss. In 1st reaction, quantity of starch and acrylamide was same i.e. 15gram each and the prepared hydrogel was so thick and immoveable. In 2nd reaction, I used 15 gram Starch and 5 gram acrylamide and the resulting gel was whitish in color but does not actually look like the gel you have prepared. Its actually more jelly in nature. kindly indicate my mistake and suggest a good method😊

what kind of hydrogel do you want to get? If you use acrylamide, it will not be temperature sensitive. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ekczCA6goA8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_sz0KkT603E.html These videos help to u.

I tried making pnipam using methacrylic acid, Nipam, BIS and KPS, and spinned it magnetically at 70 C for an hour and then again 4 hours for cooling under N2 atmosphere. But I got a milky substance instead of a clear solution. Did I not add the KPS properply?

Since there is NIPAAm in the environment, the temperature should be below 30 C. I recommend starting and continuing the polymerization reaction in the ice bath. If the temperature rises above 33 C (LCST), you will get a milky substance.

I have a question, What is the stirring duration and did you use heat while stirring it?
