Great to see a new video, I have done templates before, yours was much easier. Enjoy the snow, looks like you have more than we do in the Twin Cities!

Amazing, Andy! I always look to you and Boatworks Today for advice and once again your handling of this situation is well thought out and practical. What hot melt gun are you using there? I often use hot melt in my line of work but have most often only used the cheep-o products that ooze glue and then build up on the plastic/rubberized tip. The one you are using looks more substantial and ... well ... professional.

Nice work Andy. Wasn't this done a while ago? I seem to recall seeing an earlier video of the decking being delivered. Perhaps that was a different project.

You are frigging awesome i,m not a boaty person but if i saw the information that you are giving out forty years ago i would have paddled an inner tube across the Atlantic ocean, and been knocking on your door just to learn your knowledge. To all the ones with expensive boats (money) and not contributing shame on you.I only came across you because i'm building a fibre glass kit car.

Costs man, we want to know what all this cost to do! How much for the lumber, how much to ship that massive box? How much will the teak cost shipped to you? Anyway, that was amazing, I would have given myself a stroke trying to figure out how to measure all that surface.

Andy, I'm really curious to what a job like this cost?? Based on your videos, I know you spend a great deal of time on each boat and it's clear you do quality work. May I ask what a job like this runs??

You mentioned a flexible epoxy. I’m redoing the floors on my 70 schiada flat bottom ski boat. And I was wondering if you could recommend an epoxy? I set the strings with West system and 207. Floors are 3/8 marine mahogany ply to factory fiberglass hull. And I’ll be using a vacuum to set the panels. I’m wanting something extremely strong but flexible. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you for all the great videos! 👍🏼🙏

Thanks for sharing Andy. Do you if the material you used for the template would also be called fiberboard? Thanks again. Will be looking forward to you getting the deck shipped back and put down. 👍👍👍👍👍 😊
@josephhnat2975
@josephhnat2975 6 лет назад
Not sure which "level" of fiberboard you are looking at but as fiberboard is usually made of wood fibers and a lot of glue it can get quite dense. The more dense the stronger the material but it also adds a lot of weight. What it looks like Andy is using is, what we call in the Great Lakes region, lauan (loo-ahn) or underlayment which, as taken from the HD website, is 1/8" thick, with an actual measurement of 0.106" in thickness. It, in many cases is more flexible than fiberboard and much lighter in weight.

imo at this day and age there would be no reason to install a teak deck with the sole exception it is a wooden boat.
