Amazing how a tiny shift in the line tie location can make such a big difference. Another winner! There used to be a long skinny crankbait called a Sliver that used to be good when Striped Bass were on sand eels.

I've had other BPM baits ru-vid.comUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 before and they've pretty much always came through for me with the suskie smallies here and even with the walleye and pike, but I realized I didn't have an "in-between" pattern so this junebug one fills that role in no problem. it pairs up magnificently with a junebug Zoom Z-craw Jr that was trimmed a couple millimeters before the hook slots and rigged sideways for that fatter panfish side profile while still being a nice'n'compact presentation, a real power-finesse bait. Hell, it was so pretty I even bothered to fotosketch the pic into a watercolor painting image just to show you it's beauty! Even the blades are really well made, sure, they're not of Hildebrandt-level exquisiteness but look at the bead's reflection on the colorado blade, definitely well-made! The only "problem" spot it had was a bald spot in the skirt but it was nothing that I couldn't easily fix with a but of tuggin'n'shiftin' with the strands for a couple of seconds, besides that it is pretty minty!

Thank you for answering my question 😊😊😊 Franco, about swimbait. Shimano use your idea for the they newest swimbait they call it "arma joint". But im already watch alot your video, 2 years back you introduce made "power hinge"and i know where the idea comes from. 👍. 😊. Small detail information from you is realy matter for any lure builder. Not alot lure builder video tutorial can't explain right way mechanical lure works. And just explain how to made it, Alot just can endup copying lure from video tutorial. And less creativity for the viewer. From this channel can born alot innovation. 😀 Thanks for sharing your expensive knowledge to us. And keep fishing. 🐟🎣🎣. 😊

"Dynamic chaos" is a great band name, but might not be great for lures. What if the lure had lots of joints, like 20? I remember seeing a jointed snake imitation with lots of joints and they swam okay on the surface. But they didn't have a lip. A band named Dynamic Chaos would need lots of joints too, but of another flavor 😜.

Thank you very much for your inspirational videos! And thank you for the information you provide. I have built a couple of three-part crankbaits, but they are meant for chub and no longer than 5cm before being divided into parts. I am satisfied with how they behave in the water, and if you are interested I would be happy to upload a video and send you the link. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that I was wondering if I should try and build a four-part crankbait, but after you explained how a lure with more than three parts would behave, I really don't think that it would be worth the effort, especially on such small lure. Thanks again for everything you do to share your knowledge! Greetings from Serbia, Europe!

Like the action on that lure Franco. It's subtle and a lot of times subtle works better than an aggressive action - especially if the fish are off the bite. Don't know, maybe a less vigorous action simulates a weak baitfish and an easy meal. Nice paint job as well. Cheers!

My very first swimbait is the exact shape you said it shouldn't be. Only difference is the joints and it works perfectly. No lip, very slow sink, sinks evenly and swims no problem
@cliffcampbell8827
@cliffcampbell8827 Год назад
You want your lure to be neutrally buoyant...without being able to make changes to the lure while it's in the water (+/- air to the lure), that's going to be a little more difficult than you might think, especially if you want to use it in both fresh and salt water.
@EngineeredAngler
@EngineeredAngler Год назад
Yes, while neutral buoyancy is something you can achieve in the shop, it generally won't hold in the field. Just a couple of bubbles stuck to the surface or the hooks and now the lure floats. Or, there's a change in the water density due to higher mineral content or higher air entrainment and now your lure is either sinking or floating. For me its not worth the added effort...I prefer slow floating for crankbaits and slow sinking for twitch baits. You make a good point.

Hello. Sorry for the mistakes, as I write through Google translator. It is a pity that you do not attach to your videos the templates of baits that you make. Novice master anglers would really help these templates so that they can learn how to make fishing lures themselves )))))

Looks good. I would have liked to see an underwater shot before you made that final adjustment to the line tie. What is the product you used for the chrome like finish? How did you determine the angle and size of the lip? Good video.
@EngineeredAngler
@EngineeredAngler Год назад
Good questions. The chrome paint is Molotow. I was so flustered by the fact that it did not swim that filming it underwater did not even occur to me.

Congratulations on turning a "failure" into success! I wonder what what happen if the tie on eye was located under the bib with a small hole in the bib itself for the line to slip through? Or maybe a series of small holes so you can change the action even more, or less?
@i1bike
@i1bike Год назад
He did such video. The higher the eye the less vibrations it gives. There are companies that make lures with two tying eyes. One eye on the bib and other just above the nose. Its great cuz you get the both actions, depending which one you need. Its only bad for the lure company, cuz they will sell twice less lures haha

Today on easter, there is a 20% easter sale at best online fishing tackle store here in croatia. I went on it and put 200 euros of stuff in the basket. Mostly expensive long jerks, silicones, casting jiggs, spoons and deep diving minnows. Then i realized, what am i doing man, i know how to make lures and i made lures before. Im literally wasting money cuz im addicted. I went to purchase history, and saw that i gave them more than 4000 dollars. One half of the stuff is still in boxes, while other half is snagged somwhere haha. So i said to myself "enough". I had massive urge to release this from my chest. Thank you for hearing me out guys

@@EngineeredAngler When i come to paying desk i usually put only one package of mono or fluoro, and the working guy says "are you buying only that ?" haha. Yea, its amazing when we know immediately which action the lure has when we see it. Especially when i small-talk with other people who are fishermen for 25 years, but still oblivious to the basic physics of the lure action haha

Congratulations on getting that lure working it looked good after you adjusted the tie eye 👍 question for you: should you scuff clear coats between layer painting and what grit should be used? And if applying more than one final clear coat should you really apply the second coat before the first coat has fully cured? I've heard that the 2 clear coats can separate if the first coat has fully cured before the second coat is applied? Thank you Franco keep up the good work and teachings 👍👍
@EngineeredAngler
@EngineeredAngler Год назад
If you're using a two part resin for a clearcoat then you can go with the mechanical bond and scuff the first coat with 150 grit OR you can go with the chemical bond and apply the second coat while the first is still tacky. If you're using UV resin, you must set the first coat then lightly scuff and wipe down with alcohol before the next coat.

Hello Franco, here’s a question for you… maybe you’ve covered it already…? Why is there such a difference in the action when different shaped lips are installed? I notice that the coffin shape really makes a lure “thump” opposed to a normal elongated lip. Is there a aerodynamic explanation??? Thanks, and great video. Thought lines buddy. 🎣🇨🇦😊

@EngineeredAngler
@EngineeredAngler Год назад
Is the thru-wire fixed or will it spin?
@i1bike
@i1bike Год назад
if everything is right, check if it sinks a lot by its tail. If it does, then, until you ballance its sinking, it will keep swimming on its side. If it doesnt sinks and doesnt float straight, you need to add more weight in its first section around the trihook. If nothing works, try to widen the bib and bend the tying eye closer to the bib. And make sure your bib is thin and glued straight. Forces that act under the bib and over the bib are the ones that dictate action aswell. Keeping in mind that those energies created by those two forces have to travel safely to lure's tail in order to manifest the action

@@tedmemo9625 Also, i forgot to say something. Try to thin its sides if they are completely round, sand them to make them little bit narrow. Also, sand a little bit of belly that goes after the bib so the energy flows straight to the tail. Asuming the lure's back is lean already.
