Yea, I feel like it is useful to learn all this stuff tho, but not for the reasons you would think. It's more of like to figure out what options to pick for your career, like if you know a lot then you have more choices for your job in the future. It would be really cool if school was focused around figuring out a job instead of blind knowledge though.

Well, the point is that after entering the lever is deleted so that noone else can find your entrance, the lever activates both 1 random lever breaking mechanism and the hidden entrance.

Make two observers face each other with the red dot side out then you'll have a repeating pulse. Hook this up to a dispenser with arrows or fire charges.

Just get a comparator, turn the little thingy on and have redstone go into the comparator then turn and go to the side of the comparator, then activate it. The best part is that it's compact and can be turned on or off easily

I made this too, hooked one observer up to my melon farm and attached it to a daylight sensor that deactivates the automatic piston farm during nighttime since melons wont grow at night, and so my character can sleep peacefully at night and eat endless melons during the day lol

The same probability of getting any sequence of 4 specific methods though, so no more surprising than had it been water, left piston, lava, anvil (for example), 4 water just seems more significant.

@@fablungo Yes, but that's not how probability works, if you take a stack of cards that has 8 cards in the stack, none of which are a duplicate, and pull a card then put it back, and repeat that 4 times, there would be 4096 different combinations from it and getting, say, the 3 of hearts 4 times would be one of the 4096 possibilities.

@@acurrz3609 Yeah, but the odds of just getting the same thing 4 times in a row is only 1 in 512. The reason being that it doesn't matter which one's first. It's just the following 3 that have to be the same. That said, the fact that he was talking about water one is yet another coincidence.

It’s not that bad considering really, it could’ve been any of the eight that repeated, so it was only a 1/512 chance, not that number in the thousands. Also, you could imagine many other patterns seeming suspicious like an ABAB pattern

It's actually pretty simple. I know I'm 8 months late, but droppers randomly dispense items from any of their 9 slots. If you had 8 slots filled with coal, and 1 with diamonds, you would have a 1/9 chance of getting diamonds. You combine this with hoppers and comparators. You want the dropper to have two items in it. One that can be stacked, and one that can't. When the dropper randomly shoots out one of these into your hopper, the comparator will either draw out a weak redstone signal that can only travel one block before needing a repeater (the stackable item) or a slightly stronger signal (the item that isn't stackable). This is where you can split your redstone into two different paths. I'm not very good at redstone so I can't explain the rest, but that's the main logic behind it and how you can get randomized outputs.

actually the mistake @The destroyer 94 made was thinking this as 2^8 it's (2^3) for 8 different total states and ^4 for the 4 outcomes he got in a row so basically it's 8^4 which totals a 1 in 4096 chance for him to get the same state 4 times in a row

mumbo would make an excellent shiny hunter poketuber. the chances of getting the water that many times in a row are equal to raw (unaltered) shiny odds in gen 6 and 7. just imagine how many shinies he could get with buffed shiny odds and that luck. although since it made his machine look broken all his shinies would probably be male salandit and combee :P

Sorry Mumbo, gotta correct your math on this one. There was a 1/512 chance of getting the same output four times in a row, not a 1/4096. The error here is a common one in statistics. The real probability is (1/8)^3 and not (1/8)^4 because you have to neglect the possibility of the first event. The first random outcome could have been anything - the anvil, the water, the piston, etc. so the first outcome was not a 1/8 chance, it was a 1/1 chance that one of the outcomes would happen if you set up the Redstone correctly. Following that, it _is_ a 1/8 chance that the exact same one happens again, because now you have a degree of selectivity. Technically 1/4096 would be true if you were calculating the probability of getting the water output four times in a row, but you were referring to the probability of getting the same output four times in a row.
