IK im a bit late but: to automatically draw the collision shapes in Godot you select a Sprite2D node and iirc click those three dots in the toolbar. Then there is an option in the list where you can turn the sprite into a CollisionPolygon2D ;)
Next time you wanna make a game like this i recommend making a bunch of different items with collisions already attached to each one and then scatter them around everywhere for the map
The shooting and sticking mechanic looks really well done and SO satisfying. Its awesome that you were able to make such a compelling mechanic in just 48 hours!
Game Idea1: make the offline dinosaur game but with a gun 😂 Game idea2: make a game where you should make a dungeon or defense(good or evil skins)and an AI tries to beat it lol
What’s really funny is that the concept of launching yourself with a gun reminds me of a game made specifically to show ways games try and reduce the chance of rage… so the opposite of this game.
Dude starts youtube a month ago with an absolute banger of a video and just keeps going like that consistently. Def worth the sub and lets be honest if you keep that up, you will have a really big increase in subs very very soon. Also you just made me want to pick up gamedev again!
You should 100% percent add cosmetics if you plan on making this into a real game, like a purchased character pack, and maybe even add some free cosmetics too!
Idk if you'd consider it because you wouldn't be able to have organic shapes but maybe you could use the 2D tileset feature in godot to speed up the level creation and collision creation
This is very nice, and looks rather silly. It feels like a Getting Over It type of game. Those dont need a ton of polish, but having some woukdnt hurt. It seems like itd be a lot of fun if it had a full release and possibly nore consistent snail control for fun tech
actually even sub 20s might be possible. my best is 1:01:021 but i had a lot of missed jumps and can greatly be improved. btw there are a lot of skips in the game that is why it is possible to get such times. very good game
I love the game, i didn't finish it in the end but that was bcs i didn't have much time. i think this would be a great game. I came up with a game mechanic, i don't know how much it would fit this type of game but i thought about being able to go into your shell so you can roll and not stick and then maybe you would have some sort of slides that you can go on

Yoooo! dope video bro 🔥🔥 I wonder though, since Godot is open-source, maybe tweak the code or make a plugin that takes in an image like your level one and using some object recognition thingamagig AI or whatever the plugin automatically adds collision or at least tries to so that you can then just go in and tweak the parts that are really bad?
Biggest tip: Study videos, thumbnails, and titles. See what works, what doesn’t, and try to understand why. If you see a channel with a 1m view video and the rest are less than 10k views, try to find the difference and figure out why that one blew up. As much as I hate doing voiceovers, I think it’s super important to keep your content engaging. I try turning my devlog into a story that’s easy for a typical person to understand (but I still have a lot to improve on). You’ll have a much larger audience if you focus on entertaining the typical person rather than other developers. Also, developers are typically already stretched thin by all that goes into it so they’re probably not watching a ton of entertainment videos about making games.
