I had no clue you had this channel, but I'm super glad that this video popped up into my feed. I'm only at the beginning of my boot adventures, but your channel has been an amazing resource for learning and I'm glad to see how excited you are about this collab like a true nerd. Keep on keepin' on.
I love the idea of all these collabs but my biggest problem is that they're to expensive for me, it'd be cool if you did a colab that had a boot as durable as possible while keeping the price low, Jim green seems ideal but they might be harder to colab with
@@y.a.pthered oh is Jim green expensive over there? I know the exchange rate is more favorable to us but I wouldn't imagine them being more expensive than Red Wings are in the us
@@daddykarlmarx6183 no no Jim Greens is way affordable, it's these other collabs that are way out of budget. They're already pricey but the exchange rate just constantly dips which makes things worse
Weston, congrats on another collaboration. Rose Anvil has been fun to follow, and I'm sure it's gonna get even better! I have ND1s and ND2s on order and your ideas are impressive!
I'm a big fan of yours. I'm in my early 40's so you're much younger than me and I don't usually sub to many channels because I think it's stupid but your humility is unmatched and I appreciate how humble you are because it is because of people like your subs that make your channel a success. Of course, you put out great content but a few months ago, I did not know who you were and I'm glad I know you a bit more now. Thanks for all that you do! I wished I saw this sooner. I just got into gywed boots and I'm on TBC boots because I work from home full-time and I can't imagine paying anything more than $300 for a pair of boots but I have two pairs of Captains. One in Classic Black and then another in Arizona adobe. A black and brown pair. The classic is for more dressy occasions and my AA's are for daily use and kicking shit around. If I was still working in an office I may be able to justify spending so much on a pair of boots but it would still be challenging. $600-700 is a lot of money to spend on boots. I'm not a cheap person either. I bought a Herman Miller Embody which is a $1700 chair and a $1000 s/s desk but those I can justify since I work from home but a pair of boots when I barely leave the house is a harder pill to swallow especially since my wife and I only leave the house on weekends and to go shopping when we're off. Anyways, tmi, I know but I figured I would explain where I'm coming from. If I had the money to blow I would buy any of your collabs in a hot second but after my dream boot from Carmina. lol.
I love this long format, personally! Getting to know why some decisions were made over others, the inspirations, etc are all really interesting to me and it gives me an appreciation for the products that I didn’t have before.
The White's construction actually doesn't have much in common with a Goodyear welt, or a handsewn flat welt. It's really a 270° handsewn rolled-welt norvegese construction, or that's what I've been calling it. If I ever make another pair of boots, I'm going to ditch the traditional chain-stitch, which is normally used on Norwegian constructed boots, and try a 360° handsewn rolled-welt norvegese construction; because it hides the Norwegian stitch under a layer of leather (the rolled down welt), which makes the boots more water-resistant, and the welt becomes another layer of the stitch-down, adding to the durability of the boot. It's really an awesome addition to a Norwegian construction, and I'm grateful it exists, and is still done by White's. Also, the holdfast in the leather insole is cut by hand, so there's no canvas gemming, which makes for a really tough pair of boots; very impressive.
I'm ready for the next colab with whites specifically. I still own a pair from my days firefighting straight out of high school! I'm ready for my second pair.
@@daddykarlmarx6183 do you think it's a must because it actually keeps workers safe, or is it only a must because they are required for certain jobs? Would you still want a steel toe if you weren't forced to comply with OSHA's regulations?
I own 3 construction businesses with my family and steal toes are not the way to go. I hate them and so do all of my employees. And OSHA can F off with my business affairs!
@@Totemparadox I am generally pretty careful but production quotas don't care for your taking your time. Steel toes have saved my piggies from quarter ton loaded pallet jacks
Weston, these are the types of videos that I love from you. Design inspiration. Historic tutorial on the background and current day position in the market, of a brand as important and well respected, as White's. For a true "boot-head/leather-head" White's is the real deal. Docu-series like these are the foundation of that appreciation. Sharing the beauty of this craft. The intensity of the manufacturing process, and the strength and skill required to produce items of this caliber. Every bit of the process, truly deserving of our respect. Please keep up the great work. Cheers....🥃
I placed my order in last Thursday. This is the first time I'm getting into one of your boot collabs and a White's! This all rounder boot looks awesome and I can't wait to see them.
5:35 I don't have a problem with bear hunting or any hunting. Not sure why anyone that watches a channel on leather goods made from animal skin would have a problem with that though. Some are beneficial like the hunting of invasive wild pig in the USA. It's just poachers, illegal hunting, that are the problem. Back to the boots, I love the idea of a knife and stash pocket on a boot. It's different.
They are losers at life. They think bears are cuddly little rare animals that will go extinct if they're hunted sustainably. They are the same people that are cool with buying trash meat at the store and feeding their kids McDonald's, but wouldn't harvest a deer to have meat for an entire 6 months. They truly lose at every aspect of life. It's so sad to see, because they're so content with being losers.
Congrats on another great collab. These look kinda like the Whites Farmer/Rancher but 10" and red dawg. This is a very nicks like naming scheme where for instance a 10" and 8" of a boot style have a whole different name. That said, these are fantastic. Im not a fan of the more packer boot style and would have been more at home with an nd1 or nd2 but the quality is undeniable. My Perrys have lasted great for over a year now and i dont see them wearing out any time soon. They need another clean and condition but whites makes a damn good boot, even the less expensive goodyear welt ones.
First, LOOOOVE the color of that leather! The add-on pocket kit is pretty damn cool. Great looking boot, I dig the collab! Second, I will say I'm definitely not the target market for boots like these(done with construction, lol). I don't know if you're ever going to do another collab boot that's more shop oriented, but I would really be into that. Shorter height, lighter weight, lower heel rise, but still a high quality build & construction that I can beat up and scuff up out in the shop(doing race car stuff these days) for years. Maybe a softer sole too for those long days standing on concrete; because it'll be resoleable, so that's a fair trade-off for a long term work boot for this use. Would definitely be interested in something like this, and I think a lot of others would be too.
I just got my pair of these boots. Love them. Just out of the box have worn them for 15 hour days. I didn't get the pockets for the knife and cards. Good Job great boots.
Beautiful boots! I particularly enjoyed the discussion on lasts. Way too many boots are built for people with almond-shaped feet. It's useful to get an impression of which feet a given boot might fit best.
Dang that kit is awesome! Would love to see something like that for moc toes. Be perfect for guys who wear moc toes doing construction, working on shop floors all day etc to have a spot to keep an extra pocket knife and ditch their wallet
Hopefully you guys do another run of these. I would 100% buy these. For a high-arch last, the 4811 looks much nicer than the Nicks 55 or 11067 in my opinion. I know that's subjective, but these look incredible.
I thought I was the only one that put pockets and pouches on my boots. I first did this back in the mid 80s to have an extra place for a knife and I also sewed a leather holster on the outside for mt Beretta Jetfire backup ti my edc concealed carry. I run a small bead of silicone around the stitch holes before sewing to help with waterproofing
Hey man love ur channel I think u are doing great content would u be able to do a review on the whites line scout? I am a firefighter paramedic and have a pair love them so far been wearing everyday for over a month now. Wanting to see the inside. So I can compare to the smoke jumpers. Thanks keep up the awesome content
I’ve watched some videos on your other RU-vid channel mostly on military boots. Big fan of yours now because I love Harley Davidson Motorcycle and Hunting. For 5 years now I’ve not been able to ride or hunt. 👍🙏🇺🇸👨🏻🦼🪖👍 I really like this boot but don’t have a use for them currently. I’m going to send information to my son, Like me he also likes quality boots. I was told by my dad in the 1960s if you buy shite you live with shite.
I was thinking through it and was like, “yeah they’re cool but not really for me and I think my girlfriend would lynch me for even thinking of spending so much for a pair of boots.” Then you got to the stash pocket and I was just struck by how genius it is. Would love to see a more budget-friendly collab someday still.
Man, these are gorgeous. I love my Nomads and would dig a packer from White's. This makeup is badass. I'm all filled up on boots for the year though. Maybe next year you'll do something comparable again?
Between Nick's Builder Pro on the Munson last, and White's 4811 last: love the Nick's, but the hand-stitching on White's is true Heritage Legacy craftsmanship! Which is best?
You said this is the pre-release/release of the knife pocket set. Will you be sourcing the leather fron the likes of Nick's and whites. I have a pair of nicks work boots on the way but would love for them to have a knife pocket in matching walnut leather. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who would love a knife or card pocket on their work or casual boots, but would want matching leather to their boots. Keep up the good work
Do you think you could start doing hunting boot reviews as well, would love to see some of these store brand boots cut in half and compared to the bigger brands
Awesome !! Western flair minus the rhinestone cowboy crap. I've had 3 pair of Whites over the years , wore them every day for 30 years. Nothing else fills the bill.
Nice looking boots. What are your thoughts on Silver "Ag" inside a boot? The Shank? Maybe the Insole? Even the toe. You could have the silver parts stamped. How cool would that be when somebody rebuilds them in 20 years. Silver. Ag is soft, very ductile, malleable a excellent conductor both cold and hot. I'm pretty sure bacteria will not grow on Ag. Last I looked silver was still inexpensive. Only about $20USA a Troy ounce. Great videos. Thank you.
For the most part this is the Ranger Boot by Nicks. I've a pair. You can simply ask Nicks to do the 10" as the stock Ranger is 8". It is my everyday uniform. Just got tired of wearing Solomons and other junk.
Imo a daily versatile boot needs to be a 6" boot. Once you get much taller than that you begin to make it a chore to put on and take off and so it inevitably loses some versatility
@@ryaniam22 Leverage. The shaft being taller on an 8 or 10 inch boots means you need less force to crease the leather in the ankle area. In the end both will feel the same but a taller boot just breaks in faster at the ankle area.
you used to say you didnt mind your toes getting squished, did the pain finally set in? mine did and i fricken couldnt touch another narrow boot ever again
I wish you had a winterboot recommendation video, ive been researching them for a while now since ive moved to philly from south texas. However all of them seem to come with some form of caveat, especially if im not looking for a full sized boot, something like a chelsea. But it one without faults doesnt seem to exist. Either theyre not wayerproof or the slip super easily etc. if you could recommend some I would greatly appreciate it.
Eww you moved to the second best city in pa lol, also why are so many Texans moving here??? I swear besides native Pennsylvanians and people from Ohio, the most common state for people in pa to be from is Texas, at least on my side of the state. Anyways I doubt it's what you want but I got a pair of weatherproof boots that are pretty good, waterproof, a little leather (mostly rubber upper). My feet are always dry and frankly sweaty even in sub 20 degrees, oh and they have some heavy duty treads, the only problem is they aren't a boot you'll have your whole life, they're well made for what they are don't get me wrong but they can't be resoled and there's a lot of synthetic materials
Do you think the boot pocket kit would work with an 8 inch boot? I'm wanting to get a Nick's traveler boot in 8 inch for work and having my knife handy would be, well, handy!
The EDC kit is dope. I might have to pick one up for my engineers. What's the minimum recommended boot height for these without putting it too low/at the flex point?
If you ever do another run of these in this colorway, I'll definitely snag a pair. $650 is just a bit too much for me to spend on a boot right now! :')
Got the original smoke jumpers three years ago almost and I wear them just to be wearing them for walking outside in the rain or snow for walking only and I love them because I have hight arches these boots are perfect for any and everything once they are fully broken inn ; they feel like you were born with them on your feet 👣 ❤ best 570 I ever spent … I simply use kiwi leather lotion on these only because it hydrates them better then any expensive conditioner by far some how 😮
Hey Weston! Great video and great pair of boots! Being a denimhead, always on the search for black selvegde denim, what black jeans you wearing in this video? (Sorry for the broken english, not my native tongue, best regards from Sweden).
do you think the 430 mini lug sole would be good in the saddle? i just got a pair of packers made with a different company and will use it on the ground and in the saddle. I had trouble deciding between the vbar and the min vibe
These are exactly what I’ve been looking for. If Nicks would allow a Dogger heal on a Ranger, this is what they’d look like. I asked them yesterday if they’d put a Dogger heal on a Ranger and they said whatever is offered on the website is all you can get. I really didn’t like that answer. I’m going to order builder pros with the dogger heal even though I don’t really want or need the vibram 100 soles.
When I ordered my Nick's Builder Pros I had them pad the last at the big toe to give me more room. That worked out really well... Does White's offer that option?
Hey you are still looking for a pair of rw billy boots? There are a few pairs left from minted to used condition. Greetings from Berlin, Germany and thank you for your content.
oh man you nailed it what a really nice designed boot. i have 2 Wessco Job Master’s in the redwood & black. do you have a 10 D. in stock? thank you. great job on explaining everything on the boots. Kevin
I bet the quality is top notch, up there with Nick's, Frank's, JK maybe closer to WESCO bit i find their styling a bit behind listed above. But that's my personal opinion. Thanks for the video. Always great content.
