Qidi just released the plus4, which is the perfect cosplay printer if you ask me! It’s 305x305x280 sized, and it has an active heater at 65C so your ASA/ABS prints can be extremely durable. ASA/ABS is even easier to sand than PLA, or you could make a vapor-smoothing setup with acetone to skip 90% of the post-processing. You can also use acetone to chemically weld your prints, so that the gap between prints is just as strong, if not stronger than the rest of the print. The Plus4 also costs only 800USD, and has an AMS releasing in the first quarter of next year. Qidi also doesn’t spy on you like Bambu, and has the greatest customer service of any 3D printer company.
I love how the quality of your videos is always increasing. It is at a really high level now and the two of you have such good dynamics. I‘m already looking forward to the next videos.
What build plate size would be required to print in one piece? I see they can fit 24" heads often, from website, but doesn't give dimensions externally.
Roughly a 300x300 would be needed to print a helmet- give or take depending on how you need to resize your helmet. I've done full helmet prints on Neptune Series printers, but the print quality on the Bambu Lab printers is hard to beat.
I'm working on a helmet now but will likely do a custom paint job. Probably black and red. But excellent idea with the weathering with a cotton swab and mineral spirits. Going to give that a try! I started doing the black wash how you guys did it in this video and the Helldivers one and it's a game changer. My B01 armor is by far my best paint job yet. I also use that Seymour filler primer. It's so good.
It looks like you're close to the Chaplain helmet; just replace the mouth part and the top part with the Chaplain skull, and then it’s done. It’s the same helmet-that’s the only real difference.
One complaint, behind the tubing should be a solid plate, there really shouldn't be an open gap like that, they're meant to be environmentally sealed for a reason.
I love the key idea! It looks super helpful. I noticed you dont do the soldering iron welding technique anymore. Is the super glue and activator solid enough to keep the pieces together long term?
Two questions dogs! One what do you use or do to get moisture out of your filament cause they seem so smooth! Two any plans to release full armour stls for your patreons!?
Depending on your slicing settings, most GA Helmets use between 1 to 1.2 rolls of filament. I've done plenty helmets with less than a roll of filament used.
