Making up names for Mortal Kombat characters is hard!

man, ed boon is the ultimate troll friendly reminder that in every MK arcade version, he had a secret code to free play and it wasn't until recently that it was discovered lol

it was smaller development teams so you get this buddy vibe but they were under time crunch pressure and working long hours.

There’s some info. On the original character designs..I know of the guy who came up with the designs for several of the characters. Well not just him. It was him and his classmates. He was most proud of kitana. He had submitted the designs to midway from some contest and they didn’t get credit because they didn’t fully read the instructions on the submission and was missing info. But they kept the designs. Or so I was told lol.

as ed said back in MK1 they had 1 programmer, 2 art guys, and a sound engineer. and even by MK deadly alliance their team was only at 50 people.

I think MK started to get a little stale during the early - mid 2000’s era (Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon). They weren’t BAD games, but compared to most of the 90’s era games, they were average - although Shaolin Monks was brilliant. MK9 truly breathed new life into the franchise, and each game since then, I think, has been phenomenal. This is just ONE MK fan’s opinion though.
