About 15 years ago, my neighbor was doing this. The cops came to his house on an unrelated incident, found his set up, and thought it was bomb making material! He was charged with bombs and got off by admitting in court he was making hash oil!

I remember doing this about 10 years ago and my homie told me to take my socks off so there was no static electricity. I thought he was being over cautious even tho we did it outside. honestly its only dangerous when doing a lot like this. i dont even t hink the amount he was doing is that dangerous. cause, we did it with just one buitaine bottle. when it blew up all that happened was a bit olle fire cloud. like. filled half the room with fire for like 1 second. didnt even singe anybodys hair. i got to keep a quarter of it because i saved the batch by putting the flames out on the stove too.

I take liquid medical marijuana, never really been into it, but this stuff reduces my anxiety by 90 percent. Best thing my doctor ever recommended me. The fact it’s such a liability only reveals how effective and valuable it is in liberating humans from suffering which the corporations have zero interest in doing. Rosin pressing is the way to go now. No chemicals, no purging, just a squish and cooldown and it's ready to go. Flavor profile is also amazing most the time but as the saying goes, Quality in gets quality out.

I’m so glad we’ve moved to rosin mostly now. I’ve been around the oil scene since 2011/12 and it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. From dabbing absolute poisonous “sugar wax”, to properly purged shatter and now to solventless live rosin made from only the best parts of this beautiful plant. Canada is so blessed to have legalized this incredible plant.
You've got to be -999 iq if you think 3 small bottles of butane are going to ignite from a fridge outdoors... Even if it did, you're OUTDOORS and at most it would just make a small fireball which wouldn't do you much harm
Good video, I'm 70 and dying from lung disease. I've smoked everything from cigs to drugs. If something lit on fire, and made smoke, I'd at least try it. I've been making and smoking oil since I was 17 and discovered hash oil by accident when we skipped school to hot knife hash. I would add two thoughts to your method, 1) try a hair dryer in it won't make the glass brittle. 2) When I remove a mouth piece, I cost the connection with Vaseline because I love buying applicators (syringes) so I can add oil to my weed pipes, or putting a couple drops of oil on a small piece of food that i can pop in my mouth and swallow without chewing it. Ice and water extraction allows you to charge $70-80 a gram of wax in today's black market. No need for chemicals. The initial investment for tools is 6k. I know from experience.
My friend had his rig blow up. He was doing big batches, and it was like a bomb went off. He was fine, but it messed up his back deck and broke some windows. The cops showed up before my friend could clean up (weed and shrapnel everywhere). He ended up getting a couple of years in prison and a long time on parol. Dumbest part of it all was that my friend was a commercial grower at the time, and he did it legally for a living. They ended up taking his growers license, and he can never get it back. All because he got greedy and wanted that tax-free out of state money. Ain't going to lie he was ballin' pretty hard before that happened.

my neighbor had our house and 5 others burned down because he messed up somehow, I just remember the explosions and how the house felt like it was being pushed side to side. you have to be knowledgeable about this sort of things and know the risk. my neighbor just didn't take the necessary precautions to avoid the situation. dude had him and his friend with really bad burns, and the smoke was even catching some of the palm trees on fire. crazy day

I’m surprised that I see so many people commenting about rosin like as if it’s something new. I remember people doing it in 2014, but BHO was considered cooler and superior.
@@skateboarding118 Rosin has been around a lot longer then 2014 but most people didn't have worth while marijuana back in the day to get any yield. I used to make rosin back in 2004 with my sisters hair straightener.

Up here in Canada a lot of folks make old school honey oil with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Doesn't happen as much as about 15 years ago but there was a lot of explosions from bubbling that concoction on the stoves. You'd get one or two a month from guys bubbling a big ass soup pot full in the house!
And there was no need to even cook it off. Just do it slowly and put in a room with good ventilation overnight. That way you don't risk an explosion. Grind up your product, place into mason jar with the rubbing alcohol, let it sit for a few hours, then put a coffee filter secured over the top of the jar and hang the jar upside down over a pyrex dish. Once the jar fully empties, place somewhere well ventilated until it dries. Then scrape off with a razor blade. Not quite as pure as traditional shatter or wax as it contains a lot more plant matter, but it will get the job done and makes for a nice addition to joints or blunts.

I had a buddy of mine who was doing this in a single wide trailer and when the butane dropped and hit the pilot light on the furnace the whole place went up in flames. The ensuing fire ended up killing all of his cats and burning the trailer to the ground.

Out of all the years watching how rosin has evolved it has gotten 1000% better with proper presses and honing the techniques of heat and pressure, but I have never seen rosin produce a true 1 to 1 yield ration compared to bho. This is from following some of the most experienced extraction people out there. The use of heat will always alter terpenes as well.
This is not safe AT ALL. He’s using tech from 15 years ago. The title saying it’s safe is absolutely misleading and a hazard to society. Nobody should open blast. Laboratory settings only. This is a danger to himself, his neighbors, and the product is not clean by any means. They should’ve shown somebody who does homemade rosin or water hash since it’s 100% safe and clean.
It’s the safest way to do it without a expensive lab also this is the same way major companies in legal states clean concentrate, they just put it in a vac and they sell BHO in dispensaries so it’s not a big hazard to the society..
@@bigfebreeze_xyt3082 you can make bubble hash or rosin.. probably the safest way to get concentrate. One involves a special press, no gas, and the other involves ice water and mesh bags.
@@JustMamba I’ve made both.. you get lower yields with both of those methods and plus not everybody wants to spend time doing the bubble hash method, also rosin does have more terpenes and cannabinoids but most people want something with a really high thc content and the dark color of rosin isn’t aesthetically pleasing to customers especially if they don’t know much about concentrate and always expect a light gold color
@@JustMamba it’s all preference really, if you wanna get super high then make BHO, if you wanna get pretty high and get a strong entourage effect while getting all the medicinal properties of the plant then make rosin or bubble hash, if you want a combination of the two then make RSO, BHO still yields the most tho
RIP Michael K. Williams, also, please don't make oil this way, butane evaporating is extremely harmful to the climate. I've only done this in the coldest winters, then you loose less solvent to the athmosphere. If you're doing this in the summer, get a recirculating extraction-pump.
The fact he has that purge oven shows he cares about what he's offering to friends. It's a monopoly only the big ones get rich and if it goes fully rec or like Michigan home grow there's little profit to be made so the big guys dont want home grow in most states
Nah he doesn't, considering he is going cheap on his bottom line in regards to his butane choice and equipment. Having a vac oven isn't even the bare minimum. Whatever is in the can's that's heavier than the gas is certainly much more worse for you than butane itself. He's honestly a danger to himself and others with his setup. Not just talking about poisoning his custies.
@@pursaveer9027 Growing isn't the main issue in many legal states, it's the hurdles to distribute if you decide to sell. I'm in NY (upstate) and the gray market is nice right now but once everything is fully commercial the average person won't be able to afford setting up shop in the legal system sadly.

He’s wrong. Butane is superior if combined with chillers that keep it below -40c and crc powders. What he’s referring to is the process to make distillate which is just pure thc with no terpenes and if so they’re not natural it’s cut with synthetic.
@@andrewharris6507 with butane your only passing the fluid through, with iso you soak it for a couple hours and are able to extract a higher level of thc, without having the harshness that butane does. Some people have different preferences I suppose but I don't think there is a wrong way to do it if you know the basics. I'm curious as to why you use chillers and crc powders, I've never heard of that.
@@nameless6161 when butane hash oil is properly made there is such a low percentage of butane after purging that it’s no more harmful than the smoke itself that’s entering your lungs
I prefer sauce over shatter so i blast into a glass jar and then burp it over a month or more to purge. The fresher the material is the easier it is to get the terpenes to seperate and the thc to crash out in solution.

The lubricants often end up leaving residue on the inside of the can and valve. Every other Butane can on the market, whether it is from Korea or the UK, buys their cans and valves from Asian factories

@@dertythegrower The butane left over is usually minimal (less than you would get from using a bic lighter on a bowl) and if you take any real care in the purging process its dead simple not to have any. Its the particulate contaminants in the butane itself that are more the issue. Closed loop system solves that issue. Rosin is nice, but ultimately is its own thing. Theres something to be said the bho can be thorough in its extraction without altering cannabinoids or terpenes in the process like pressing rosin can/does.

I do this professionally for a company in a rec state. I have to say, with the right precautions taken, and proper equipment, this process isn't as intimidating as it seems. Yes anytime you're working with volatile gases like butane, it is inherently dangerous, but in reality it's no more dangerous than any other process involving volatile gases

For anyone thinking this is a good way to make some money. Just leave this kinds stuff to chemical engineers, or at least hire one for this. You wouldn't make fireworks in your house, which is much safer than doing such a process with this setup.
At least invest in a closed loop system and make sure that you completely understand how to use it correct. Do not cut corners regarding safety. You can make a safe environment without breaking the bank if you have a firm understanding of the rules and an imagination . A glass of water , though not certified as such , is intrinsically safe. That should help you get your think on🙂.
As much as I love weed and DIY and I totally understand why people do this butane extraction but its bloody dangerous. Mad kudos to the dude in the video doing everything by the book being safe and discrete and having sensible risk management and SOPs in place but there are too many idiots out there who will half ass it and blow themselves and possibly their neighbours up with this.
BHO is better for manufacturing because he skips the bubble hash step. Pressing flower is dirtier than BHO at less than 5ppm but flower rosin is mostly plant junk you still dont want in your lungs. BHO or bubble hash rosin, there is only two ways to do large scale concentrates.

I did this with PVC pipe with caps on each end . One hole in one end and 20 holes in the other end with coffee filters 25 years ago. A lot more primative then this guy but it worked back then 😎
@Street Dreams Let the BHO sit in the Pyrex "dripping dish" in the sun, until it stops bubbling....practically all the Butane will have flashed off and you're left with very little still entrained in the final product.
@@robertboatright6452 It is a vacuum degassing oven. It is a “blast proof” digital vacuum degassing oven, attached to a vacuum pump which sucks the butane out of the wax over the period of about 72 hours, flipping the slab every 24 hours.
Pure love goes into makin concentrates. My homie and dealer makes it himself. Its better then anything ive ever got from any dispensary. Love and years of time and patience went into learning how to make shatter crumble anything. I know someone who blew a house up in my city.

I blew up my kitchen over decade ago, pan evaporated and was barely bubbling, I thought it was done, I went inside put it in my stove, boom, I got huge burn on my arm, oil stuck in my kitchen, apartment was smoking, I opened window and my neighbor was outside, she said should I call the cops, I said no I just burnt some popcorn, I got away with it, now I do indoor closed loop butane extractions, I use gas meter for ppm connected to 3000 cfm extraction manifold for safety. Stay outdoors kids! Be safe
