Loved this interview. The oblique references to Sarah's history with the previous host were quite tasteful. She is a brave person and far more courageous than I would have been.
March has been Sarah Polley Month for me. After loving Women Talking, I had to watch her biographical documentary, listen to all the pods including her beautiful chat with Margaret Atwood and start her book of essays, Run Towards Danger. What a smart, talented, generous, strong person. It is so cool to find a new hero. Especially one so young that you know is bound to create more stimulating work.
She's a transcendent talent for sure! I sort of had a Sarah Polley "revival" in May/June of this year. I grew up watching her in "Road to Avonlea" for years, and always liked her character. I re-watched the first four seasons and her character in that show is quite compelling...
Just heard the radio interview & it was so deep, balanced & delightful that I HAD to hear it again! Imagine my joy knowing it’s now in RU-vid 👏 Kudos to Tom P. & Sarah for past & ongoing work 👌
I've just realised that this film creates an alternative to the things that have been frustrating me most - it's always one hero that will save us all (and usually overly violent). Here we have a delicately crafted, funny and engaging film about the essence and mechanisms of a collective. This is how we create something new. We can't keep waiting for Keanu Reeves to save us.
With a lesser director, wild 3-day long scenes would have had actors in virtual rebellion. Sarah Polley is glue. Impossible not to root for her and care about her projects.
