Indie Animation has been a big topic lately. Hence, as an upcoming Indie Creator, I wanted to give some advice and motivation to other aspiring Animators wishing to create their own show!
I'm also pretty young, and I've also wanted to develop stuff like this. All I can say is KEEP GOING! Whatever you make, it's gonna be awesome! Use your creativity in any and every way you can! NEVER GIVE UP!
Making a fully hand-drawn animated series, truly faithful to the golden age. Drawing every frame on paper, then tracing over it with ink and putting it against a background to be shot. Mix the style of Cuphead with not just the humour of Looney Tunes, but my own humour and you’ll have "Sammy Shorts".
I'm gonna weigh in on this personally since I have indie animation experience. I made a short film around 18 mins long called Graveyard Shift, that took me around 3 years from beginning to end. I did everything except professional sound mixing and a few voices. I feel rewarded by the experience, but my advice for a pilot is to animate the cold open or act 1 of your pilot. Going right for the sports car will leave you stuck for years in the mines of animation and there were numerous occasions when I wanted to quit. Start small. Try to get people involved. Don't be a hero. And make sure to plan your script and GET FEEDBACK from people you trust to be honest. Blowing smoke helps nobody. You need to check your ego at the door and make sure that script is as razor sharp as possible to reduce rewrites and alternate takes.
Advice I 100% agree with and will utilize. Gotta take it from someone who’s done it. Also, it’s quite cool to know you created a pilot. Animation is hard, as well as sound effects, VAs, etc etc. Gonna check out Graveyard shift in a min, sounds eerie
Dude when i was 7 i made my first two ocs and now my stories are literally what i think about nonstop on a daily basis and i REAALLLLY want to make them true. Im trying to get educated on this subject as soon as possible and rhis video helped a lot.
I'm part of the Object Show Community, so my characters won't be the same, but the fandom is strongly built around making indie shows. I have quite a lot together. The characters, story, heck, even what I want my pilot to have! But my weakness mostly is the animation. While I can and have prided myself on my fluidity, lipsync and small details, I get burnout really easily unless I have real motivation. I doubt anything will come out soon, but I'm still going to try.
Ngl I don't know what the os community is, but I love indie shows so definitely gonna search that up later. I wish you good luck with working on motivation. That stuff's a real struggle. If it helps, you can always watch cool animated content before you continue your own work, as it can sometimes make you go "alright time to join them in the big leagues/I wanna be like them" That's just me, though. glgl!
@@2weird2be The OSC isn't the biggest community, but it's really been having some amazing content recently. I do recommend watching a show or two. Some larger ones have teams, but most are one or a few people. I hope you find some good gems if you're looking through some shows.
My concept for a story I’ve been meaning to tell is about a girl named skarlet who lost her dad at 10 and is now 15, who after finding an ancient family key, is transferred to no-where isle, where she meets friends and tho’s (and maybe even crushes) in a search to find a exit, and gain powers??? Lots of family secrets, lots of lore still to be uncovered, and skarlet being only one person having to handle this, will she be able to find her way back home???
Who doesn't love a good story about exploring unknown places and family trauma? Genuinely LOVE the concept for this, I feel like this is one of those pilots that has fire music that ends up blowing up across the internet in the span of a 30 minute release. I also ADOREE THE NAME!! Love how it's a K instead of a C for Skarlet, makes it much easier to search up the character and not get mixed up for Scarlet J or like a color. LOVE THIS
Working on a LOADDDD of pilots right now; this helps a lot with trying to finally calm down and take it one step at a time. Usually, I improvise on small concepts in popular stories, or old storyboards, however I'm also wanting to focus on the ORIGINAL aspects of creating an animated pilot. My goal is to be somewhere around Ramshackle, but that'll take a lot of work.
this helps out a lot WAAAA thank u for the lil bits of advice (i personally love the bit where i work with my own strengths qwq) right now im workin on a lil pilot for my show Lucklusters!!! cant wait to see your pilot too cuz sheesh it looks amazing so far!!!
I’ve had a concept for a bit now. It’s the old times in Paris maybe Rome . The main character is a bounty hunter/thief who is quite the ladies man. His costume in kinda theatrical. Based n a cat, Dress shirt and paints with the puffy sleeves, a long cape, fabric tail, leather ears, a a mascarade cat mask .You’ve really given me inspiration to start this now. Thanks man. Also, your improbable face had me rolling
LOVEE how you're going with an "old times" style. It's usually used for historical themes, so I love where this is going!! I literally ADORE the "hunter that has rizz" and the cat aspect, since cats can be quite sly or quiet, but are also popular and loved in different ways. Can't wait to see how this plays out! glgl!
Thank you so much for these tips!! I’m working on a show and I hope it can be more than just one episode so I’ll try to make the pilot a good one. Your tips really helped and it was nice to see some of the things I was doing right and what I should work on. That start from the middle tip especially helped :).
I’m under 16 and I currently am inspired by so many animated pilots, that I wanted to make my own. It’s called A Tale of Shadows (ATS for short) and it’s about the journeys on a planet taken over by a mysterious weapon seller named Genesis. I’ve only been working on this for 5-6 days I’d say, but I love it so much and it makes me feel great working on it. I have storyboards set up currently and are practicing animating ^_^ it was originally a comic but I wanted to turn it into a show. Should I continue? And thank you for the video, by the way.
Im only a young teen (not saying spefs) but me and a few friends are working on a half-puppet half-animated series called StarBorn! Its based on a library study group making "PSA's" in a world thats rigged against them. Were hoping to start production this summer if we can get the voice actors :]]
I LOVEEE LOVE LOVE puppet shows, especially puppet series. I haven't seen many but I kid you not, they always end up with good stories. If you need help finding voice actors, I know some and I am one myself (free one that is lol). I LOVE THE STORY OMG it's such an original concept. I barely see library stories nowadays unless it's about diving into a book). I also love the name "StarBorn", because now I'm thinking of space or symbolically focusing on the MCs going against the government because they are the "stars" of the rebellion. But those are just my theories. hope producing your series goes well! Wish you best of luck for you and your friends!
I've got actually 2 concepts I wanna do for shows- Jinx the Lynx An slapstick comedy animated show about a family of triplet lynxes and their mom living on a tropical island peacefully till a crocodile treasure hunter hired by a tigress queen from a far away land arrives to the island to find a mythical gem. It wouldn't feature voice acting and the humor would be smth similar to older Lego games- grunts and slapstick humor. Scurvy-pups An all-dogs pirate themed show with a bit of a serious undertone but with a fair bit of comedy as well, tells the story of a young pup thrusted into an life of a pirate along with his childhood friend, pursuing glory, riches and adventure.
Thanks for this video dude! This was really helpful, and I really like the "Self contained plot" part. I've been having some trouble trying to condense the story for the pilot to my pirate story, and not only would this help to not water down the plot, it'd just help people kinda get the vibe for the series, and get attached to the characters.
I don't see a lot of stories on that anymore, so it would be amazing for one to reach out to people again and spark that interest in others among pirates. Go for it
You made a FREAKING GAME?!? Dude!! That stuffs hard work as heckity deckity Genuinely tho, love how the name is called "DogShoe" it gives me either humorous or adventure vibes, kinda like Adventure Time. Good luck with your pilot!
This is a great video! The most helpful part for me was making a list of my strengths and weaknesses, it gave me a lot to think about when planning my pilot! So far I pretty much only have character designs and a basic outline of my story, so it'll still be a while before I really have anything, but I expect to come back to this video a lot over the course of making it, it's a good video for tips, as well as motivation! Good luck with your pilot and future projects!
Im planing on making an spider-sona animation. i got the script and the character design. But haven't started production yet. and i also thinking about an animated shot film at the time also.
It's best to start with the small, shorter things first so you can grasp the understanding of how you want to progress with animations. Also, with the amount of Spider-Sona animations I've seen, I'm sure yours is going to BLOW minds
Thanks for the advice! I’m working on a show called Spectral Bonds, where it answers the unasked question of “What do you get when you fuse Yo-kai Watch, Owl House, Avatar, and Meta Runner” It stars 2 Best Friends named Alex Francesco and Riley Newell who meet a Spectral named Luna after Alex gained an ancient device called the Spectra Amulet! It also has a Deadpool amount of 4th Wall breaks so far
I remember Yo-kai watch from my childhood that show was FIREEE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I love the show name and the idea of "Spectrals", and how the title uses the word "Bonds" definitely gets me thinking. As well as how Yo-kai Watch and Avatar are about bonding with things (like elements or yo-kai), so I'm assuming Luna bonds with an MC And Deadpool humor 👌
Pretty good advice there man! That being said, I have a concept for a retelling of my life where I have godlike powers and I’m trying to grow up with the responsibility of being the universe’s hero… among other things, but I’m not gonna get too into detail. I just want people to vibe with it and have it be another Spider-Verse or Puss in Boots 2 (maybe a combination of both) so it can have a style that can really stand out. I have a lot of ideas for the show, it’s world, and its characters, and I want it to be the best show it can possibly be.
Good luck with that dude, though I don't think you'll need it cuz you already got a lot going on, and well thought out too. When it comes to animation styles, it's best to work out the script first, before you get into stylizing everything. Also, make sure to focus on the main color schemes (best to stick with 2-4 colors that'll best symbolize your story). This sounds like one of those cool fake scenarios that pops into my head when I hear an edit audio lol go for it
*so i've seen this video to understand how to make my dream come true. but instead it just made me realize that my past horrible experiences were worth something*
watching this while animating a little short, and now I'm REALLY inspired to create some kind of series, either way, I want to get my stories out somehow
Im working on a silly and random cartoon that I’m slowly chipping progress into everyday with breaks here and there along with a few friends to do voice acting such as myself. It’s gonna be very comedic and action packed. To substitute the fact I do not have much patience or skill to make the entire thing frame by frame I thought of moving them around as still images and changing their sprite at times. But it will fit the charm of the cartoon anyway so it’s a win win. And I will have frame by frame animation here and there with also rotoscope thrown in for humor aswell. All while also having deep lore that eventually leads to an even bigger project I could potentially make in the far future.
Ooo I love that idea! And yeah, the patience part is understandable. I’ve seen a few pilots do the sprite movement technique. Glad you got everything planned! Good luck with your comedic/action-based pilot, dude! Seems like you’re really getting into it! Best of luck to your friends as well
I have been trying to conceptualize a story for the past 5 years and finally decided that I will be starting to officially write the first draft of the whole story this May. Although I have ideas for an animation, I only plan to turn it into a trailer and make comics about it instead. I have no title for it yet but I've named it "Project Origin." I hope I can finish the trailer this December
I LOVE THE TITLE!! It's really giving me futuristic/sci-fi vibes and I can't wait to see the trailer in December. I think it being a webcomic would definitely help enhance a future/science theme (if my guess is right). Glad you're finally deciding to go through with it! 5 years is a lot. good luck!!
Man this video was encouraging!!! I loved the advice, I've had a working concept for a 3 season wide storyline based on actual unscripted things that happened on the Minecraft server I meet all my friends on a few years back. Recently I've been learning animation and getting a good grasp and it and I think I've got a good thing going. All of my friends are REALLY excited to voice themselves.
Your show looks amazing omg!!! I probably might make a pilot of something once I have more animation experience, I don't really have an idea yet however its developing overtime, honestly for now I animate map parts to improve my skill
It's also best to take notes from the 12 Principles of Animation video by Alan Becker. I'd link it, but could get reported for "scam links", so you can just search it up if you wish. Genuinely interested in the story of your pilot, but I also don't want to know so I don't get spoilers or something so whatever it is, go for it
I'm currently working on an indie anime style series written by my dear friend, as well as my own series. I don't feel comfortable saying what they are called yet, for I am currently the storyboarding process on my friend's show and don't want anybody to steal the titles for the shows we've been working on LOL(I see too many tracers and copycats here on RU-vid 😂) I hope to release the first episode within the next 2-4 years, and already have a few animation tests on my channel(NOT self promoting by the way...) By the way, Thank you for making this video. It boosted my motivation to animate even more! Also, I hope your pilot episode is a massive success!🎉🎉🎉
Even thought this probably won't get seen thanks for the tips and i hope whoever is seeing this looks forward to the hopeful release of very yes i MEAN wreckless
I don't have any pilot ideas in mind just yet, but I'm so excited to work on one someday! I think I'm a little weak in the writing department, but I have friends who might need assistance with their pilots someday, so we'll see what happens! I'm so excited to start uploading more of my work :D
My idea for a pilot is about two siblings, with around 17 or 18 years. One is a girl that pratically is just trying to have a normal school life, but her brother (Grinsen) is a sociopath, and after a specific trauma, he's willing to do anything to get control and fame over his schoolmates, hoping one day he could actually control the whole country. I still dont have a proper script and I never tried to draw that much (aside from the Figures I do in my notebooks when I'm bored in class) but I do wish to at least give it a shot in this summer, probably I'll even improve drawing and writing skills Edite: Forgot to mention that Grinsen would always be smiling or grinning, like Alastor, and The explanation would be Said later in the series
I've had a show idea that i was gonna use for a Gacha series, but my dream is to make it an Animated show, but im poor, so it'll be a long time before that happens, its called Clueless Rad, a story about a 10 year old boy named Rad Clueless who moves back to his hometown of Miami with his mom, Ashley and his sister, Lydia, after his parents Divorce, i have some information about the show on my community tabs, the show would probably have some swearing but would be for a 12+ audience.
Thank you for this video, it helped a lot considering that me and my friends are making an animated show and we have a very small team, so thank you for the information because it helped a lot.
Hope yall get the support you need. It sucks when you end up with a small team, but with the right motivation and skills put together, yall got this in the bag
Honestly the only thing i struggle with is script writing, I did have my first episode ready but my phone lost storage and the entire doc deleted itself, and im trying to recreate it all from memory. Have been planning this series since I was 11, lol.
Omg nooo the doc 😭 Script-writing sucks but is also a beautiful thing imo. It's a long-lasting job but provides you the layout for your story, just like storyboards in animation. If you're struggling with ideas or having a "fun" writer's block, it's best to check out art on google. Actually. Just look up art that relates to the style/theme of your show or what you want it to look like, and there should be some cool backgrounds/characters that appear. That's for settings and character designs. However, if you're talking plot-wise, there's not a lot I can help with that as of NOW except tell you to rewatch your favorite movies/shows, since they enticed you for a reason: usually plot or art, but mainly plot. Use the style of writing to help you with your own work (not plagarism, but modifying based on inspiration) Also 11 years old? WHATTT
Thank you for this video! Really helps me to know what to do! I've got my own concept of two bestfriends getting stuck in a fantasy world filled with criminals and almost finish building the writing.
@@2weird2be thank you! Honestly it was inspired by a bunch of shows so I kinda mush them together, so it's like an unoriginal original lol. But yea, I tried my best to make it original and good!
@@KittyMQ Nahh I totally get it. And hey, you're just being inspired, it's not actually like you're stealing the entire concept of a show word-for-word or name-for-name. You're just taking references and being like "hey that's cool, let's mash that with that and improvise!"
I am working on an animatic series called Dawn of the Eclipse (DOTE for short) and it is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy series about a barn owl named Luna going on a journey to save her sister from the main villain while managing her anxiety. That's all I can say without spoiling the series, but I hope people will enjoy it. My main goal is to inspire others to make their own projects and teach important lessons with my series.
ACTUALLY -- I LOVE THE TITLE SO MUCH!! I have a heavy addiction to fantasy/sci-fi, and barn owls are uncommon animals used in sci-fi stories, so I can't wait to see this. I also love how you're avoiding spoilers, makes me even more excited. GENUINELY AM EXCITED FOR THIS GO FOR ITTTT
I really really like this video. Everything you said this made me feel more confident that people will make my show the kid and lit star episode 1 there’s currently being worked on with the help of some animators of mine and background designers, and leave voice actor for my main character.
i once had a daydream about a protagonist that lives in a tropical beach who is afraid of the deep ocean, and the antagonist is a leviathan that is trying to destroy the tropical beach that the protagonist and other characters live in. But im not that old enough to do things as complicated as making a whole show by myself. (that daydream was kind of like a fake memory or something if anyone knows what its called comment it because im curious.)
Daydream ideas are some ofcthe best ideas (because you’re subconscious but also not asleep and will possibly forget whag you dreamt about) Love the idea here! The concept of a character who has thalassophobia and is literally surrounded by their fear can definitely help with character developemtn! I wish you good luck when you choose to develop this (you can always start out with bullet points/writing a rough draft first, age doesnt matter in this situation dude! Glgl!)
I need a video like this! Thanks! I want to make a short but my life is so chaotic and didn't know where to start. Thanks. If you got more tips feel free. I am coming up with some ideas but if you got tips regarding tools, voices, scheduling and what have you I could use it.
Random person here (hello) When it comes down to voice actors, there's a lot of them on the internet that work for free (I know some in cause you need'em, and I am one myself), you really just have to send them lines and they'll send you a video/audio recording, then BOOM you got your voices. When it comes down to animation or drawing or anything related to art for your story, some good animation apps for free are flipaclip and blender (a little more complicated). However, flipaclip does not work on windows computers unless you use an APK like Bluestacks and proceed from there. Pricey ones would be Adobe Animate (monthly/annual cost) and Procreate Dreams (one-time purchase). I can understand how chaotic life can be, so for scheduling, it's best to let someone help you with that if you can give them the best information as possible on when you're going to be busy, and when you're going to be free through the weeks. hope this helps. not really the best advice, but I want your story to go well. Really excited for everyone's stories, really. good luck!
bro this is helpfull af im wanting to make an animated seriese and this will help me when i start making it thank youu (i really need to work on the world building and deveopment while learning animation)
Ahh I love watching people make pilots and honestly I wish you full support for your animated show! When it comes to world building, dare I say it, Google Earth and games like Minecraft that provide context on different textures and structures and such will definitely help you. It's also best to focus on the exact genre/style of your show, since that'll best help you with settings (also CHARACTERS AND CHARACTER DESIGNS!!!). Good luck with learning animation! I HIGHLY recommend the 12 Principles of Animation video by Alan Becker (would link, but I may get reported for "scamming online" for sending links, so it's best to just search it on youtube). good luck !!
I have an idea involving five goobrs in a facility made for entertainment , similar to a mall!!! Leo, Zade, Sugar, Miski, Volt .... all em fellas!!! It's like wacky goofy adventures and a *few* horror aspects, it's gonna be more-so VHS styled!! Like analog horror!! We've all seen analog horror... I wonder if there's one about animals or furries lmao
Love how you called your ocs "goobers" that got me 💀 I LOVEE those names I could go on a whole rant about how much I love them they literally fit together so well. Also I love your personality when reading this, it's like I can hear you through the screen and your aura is just amazing (that may sound weird ooc) I haven't seen VHS styles used except in Far Fetched, so I'd love to see more creators incorporate it into their pilots! Love how it ties into horror as well, that style will definitely sync with the genre.
@@2weird2be oooo okay!!! :D Thank you SO MUCH FOR THA KINDNESS!!! So far there's gonna be two series revolved around the one detail!! There's : The Lightheart Incident (the more horror aimed) and then the cartoony thing I spoke about, it doesnt have a good name yet loll.. I can yap on all about it someday/time if ya let me!!
@@mirrorconductor3651 I'm totally down for a rant session on a series xD also thanks for haunting me (not sure by ghost standards if I should be thanking you or be terrified so let me know) It's interesting to why it's called "The Lightheart Incident", sounds like there was a project that didn't quite end so well hmm
@@2weird2be mhm!! I would talk about it on other social medias or apps such as discord or scratch or whatnot, but it'd probably be better to do it here!! The Lightheart Incident's main focus is revolved around a father of four children named Mirror Lightheart, who had recently been through shite from an incident that happened within an area called BlueBird Facility. Harrison Lightheart, his uncle, had made the place and unknowingly created a labyrinth, which had first been incredibly successful. The place was thriving with families and such, while they used experiences with the people to help improve their building layout and the events that people preferred over others. There were also robotic counterparts to the cartoon creatures in the facility because why not? Over time, around a decade later, things had started to go down and turns out one of Mirror's sons, named Aeron, had been missing to the facility ever since the family tour had happened, which by this time had happened a few weeks ago. Then other deaths within the family strangely occured, not all of it was in the facility so it couldn't have been linked to that place specifically. Muffin, the oldest son, was found dismembered and barely identifiable behind his own bakery. Wendy, the youngest daughter, had her head cut off by a window in the house nearby the second floor in the bathroom, and Charloette (The oldest daughter) was just flat out missing. Of course, Mirror could barely keep himself together from these turns of events and was trying to ignore everything. you cant really do that when the little loves of your life have passed from strange reoccuring events. It even haunted him in his dreams and nightmares, which has few segments at the intro of the episode and near the middle of the episode. Harrison had so far been trapped inside the facility, trying to not only find a way out, but find out the reason as to why the strange incidents and disappearances had happened in the building. There'll be more story info but for now you get the main plot!!
im working on an object show "mental chaos", tho atm taking a break from it due to school making me have no time to work on it i still gotta figure out how to do it as i seem to be too ambitious easily, struggle with attention and dont have the skills to form a proper crew or guide them right
School really sucks when it comes to doing something other than homework, because they really just shove stuff onto you and are like "yo do it or else 1.3 gpa lol" so I understand scheduling issues. there's voice actors and animators that work for free (with animators, it's usually much harder to find). If you're animating yourself, best to always start out with a rough draft in writing and THEN proceed to the storyboard for animation. Ask someone who can help you organize your schedule instead of just handling time-constraints yourself. good luck with your show!
I have this sorta scrapped pilot idea and I’m thinking about picking it up again just to see how it’d do with RU-vid. My channel, despite this is really small, so I’m trying to build subs right now. Thanks for tips anyways!
Working on a comic strip I’m co-creating with my daughter right now called « Critters & Co. » I’m also thinking about turning these strips into short cartoons but I have zero background or experience in animation so I’m still trying to figure out which software to use-debating between Adobe Animate and Blender’s Grease Pencil at the moment.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Wow fantastically well done Video! As someone who studied Traditional animation and finally beginning to take the Indie plunge after copious yrs of a beaten down self esteem from insane animation instructors 😅 I have been working on a 2D hand drawn traditional short animation I call the Sussy Spaceship 🚀 😜 Currently finishing the Imposter pencil in-betweens, have my 1 scene background, story & character designs completed but not the final animations or color wah wah. Yah what you said strengths & weaknesses or about things you like more than others in my case 😂 is 100% on the money 💰 Inbetweening has never been my favorite as I get bored of drawing the same thing to many times 🤷 go figure! Lol. But I thank you for your extremely motivsting and inspirational video about your animation pilot because it's motivated me to get mine finished 😁👍🏼 "Keep Creatin' & Stay Classy!"
I’m writing a fantasy story with a indie band whose new drummer is a magi. There are rifts between the magic and non-magic worlds where magical creatures and artifacts have leaked into our world
I alr have made the story for it, all charecters desinged(I didnt draw them lmao) and stuff. I will probs write a book abt it at the summer, learn how to draw and animate. This will help, tysm!:)
Ahh! Good luck on your artist journey, I fully support you! Love seeing new people take on art and fulfill their goals, and you seem really into this story, so now I'M into this story (even tho I barely know you, your story has officially caught my attention). I wish you good luck with your book!!
Wow this is amazing! your animations look sooo good. I gotta check out your Pilot! I'm also working on my Series solo and finished Episode 1 a while ago and I will finish Episode 2 soon too!! So exciting :D It's on my channel if anyone is interested! 😁 (I also have a german version of everything)
@@2weird2be yeah German I kinda my default language and I make English additionally, so a more international audience can experience it. I first thought about doing only one of the two, but I like it this way the most :)
@@DereknDerekEN I love that! Thank you! So glad I could get to enjoy reading this, and I highly respect you for doing that tso more people get to see this! :D
finding something that works for me is mostly people who do stuff for me. for anything else its if I have a team it'd be the story os hard to shorten or communicate better
So, first of all, this video was super helpful. I've gotten into animation, but haven't done any really big projects cause I wasn't totally sure how to do so. Definitely leaning more towards trying to give it a shot now. It's probably going to be several years down the line since I'm just getting into animation, but I've got a comic I'm thinking about making a pilot episode for called Haunted Marshes. It's a slice of life horror comedy, if anyone's into that kind of thing. There's a little bit of stuff for it on tumbler, too, if anyone wants to see it.
Haunted Marshes sounds like an actually SICKKK name, and I can't wait to see it (yo where that tumblr page at tho). It's understandable that you may be delayed with your pilot because of your new understanding of animation. You can also do animated webcomics, with just a bit of tweening here and there. One example of what I mean is "The Interpretation of Shadows" (search it on RU-vid and click on the comments of the shorts). Good luck with this!
It's just haunted-marshes on tumbler, all lower case and hyphenated. My goal is to do a sort of reboot of my old attempts at the comic pages i put on webtoon, since those are from when i just started didgital art. Hoping to work on that more by end of summer, fingers crossed, as well as playing with animation to get more comfortable with it. (I would put a link or something to the tumbler, but I'm not really sure if i can on mobile. I usually don't comment much)
@@FensRandomness Yeah, I wouldn't suggest putting a link regardless, since youtube may accidentally take that as a "scam link" it'll be interesting to see your old art style comparing with your new one! I will search haunted-marshes up RIGHT NOW, really intrigued, fingers crosses as well for the reboot!
@@2weird2be they actually get married but you are right that they are kinda enemies (witch steals an apple from princess to feed brothers) but not for long and though they become friends quickly and the princess falls for the witch pretty quickly as well, the witch takes until the dragons almost kill her to realise she loves the princess (enough to ignore other people’s homophobic and classest(?) opinions) Also thanks very much for the encouragement :D
@@isamaple ofc ofc! also oooo enemies to lovers is such an interesting relationship. While it's commonly used, it's how the relationship DEVELOPS that always intrigues me. Genuinely would've thought the witch falls for the princess first, but I like how it's the opposite. Usually, it's the dark characters that end up falling for the bright ones.
Tbh they become friends fast cuz the princess saw that the witch had no bad intentions (had to feed her little brothers during what was practically a famine). Also Bella (princess) fell fast and hard lmao. She literally saw woman with pretty glowing (witch trait) eyes and was like “I’m in love” But there is a bit of a rough process to fall in love because of the trauma Iris (witch) experiences when her native town left her to take care of her brothers by herself and called a witch hunter to like kill her off (she was 15 😥) So basically Iris is very self conscious about people seeing her as different in this new kingdom and being in a gay relationship with someone of a way higher class even if they don’t find out she is a witch felt like too much to risk. Because of this she flat out rejected Bella saying she doesn’t love her enough to over look that and Bella is left with her heart shattered.
My dude I promise you, if you motivate yourself into art & design your age will not matter no matter hOW your art looks. Wishing you luck rn, wonder what it's about if you already got a story in mind
I'm just a little guy and probably won't be making a show anytime soon because I'm often busy and definitely an amateur but this will definitely be helpful for future reference :)
*indie animation series never change any single thing from the pilot to the actual series. so calling them pilot feels kinda unnecessary (my personal tought)*
I’m currently working on a show called welcome to bellmare/mothers curse it’s mainly phycological horror and it’s inspired from Omari and games like that.
Oh I love the "welcome to" in horror-based shows and movies. It's such an enticing introduction to the story, and I love how you're basing it off games like Omori. gl dude!
@@2weird2be it’s gonna be a small suburban town where everyone knows each other (based off my town but not dangerous 😭) and it’s about some teens trying to enjoy childhood before forced into adulthood
@@Motherscurse-WelcometoBellmare ah yes the tragedies of adulthood 😀😀☺ Actually tho- that’s an original concept if I’ve seen one. Especially if everyone in the neighboorhood knows each other (I barely know my neighbor) and it can lead to a lot of interesting relationships between characters, so can’t wait for it
I'm eleven years old and I've made some backstories about my characters and uhhh yeah I don't really have the time to animate because of school and I don't have any animating experience but okay
when you have time over breaks like spring or summer break, motivate yourself into animating. If not, just work on perfecting your story to exactly how you picture it to be! you're gonna blow up dude. best of luck!
I’m working about how a nice friendly world has been attacked by a strange force which controls people for a little, than leaves but still completely damaged their brains and over time they will start to go insane, pushing their bodies to their limits and eventually seem unrecognizable and disfigured. This will also force survivors to adapt to the sudden changes and save others. Basically Pibby pluse the last of us Also it’s an object show so yeah
IThere is a 14 yr dude who animated the lego scene in Across the SpiderVerse, and nobody hated him for his age. Actually, people praise you for being younger and animating because you know so much at a younger age, which means you have more time to learn and progress! It's best to start with bullet-pointing your ideas, then putting them into a document and start drafting out your story first. glgl!
Anyone have any tips for when I feel like my story isn’t valid because of the amount of upcoming pilots? I am desperate i really feel like quitting it at this point
First of all, do NOT assume your story is invalid because of the quality and quantity of different pilots. Their stories are not YOUR stories (unless you're literally plagarizing them). Don't back down because there are many runner-ups. Heck, if you've seen High Guardian Spice and Velma, think of THAT as your main competition and trust me dude: you got an extremely high chance against them. what are those shows Always ALWAYSSS focus on rough drafts and storyboards first. You always want to start with bullet points when it comes down to pilots. Make sure to know how the entire series is going to go, then start removing those bullet points and focusing on perfecting scripts and rough drafts. that's when you move on to storyboards/voicing/scheduling. hope this helps!
@@2weird2be thank you so much! I’ve actually finally done the script and now I’m actually seeing some faith thanks to you! I seriously cannot thank you enough
@@DizyFace of course! I'm glad to help you out, and I'm really excited for your pilot in the future (I don't really know what it's about but I can see you've got a whole script which means you're encouraged to do this, so now that makes me encouraged for you. Yeah ik, it makes no sense xD) best of luck!
Love how multiversal is misspelled. Really adds emphasis to that missing "i" and can entice people into finding out the mystery behind it. Actually. It itches my brain when people do that to titles and I LOVE it. Glgl!
