This is the second video of yours I watched. I was immediately drawn to the colour grading, and then I was drawn to the low-key, calm delivery. Not every video needs to have frantic energy! I prefer this very much rather than the over-the-top manic delivery so many youtubers seem to create while trying to impress everyone with their overly-creative editing skills. I can't stand that style and this, my friend, is a breath of fresh air. Subscribed!

A few weeks ago I caught one of your videos and it inspired an obsession in photography. After a rough time in life I’m hoping it’ll help me get out and build confidence again. I’ve just bought my first camera, the X-E1 with 35mm 1.4 ..you might scoff!? But thought it’ll be a good place to begin the learning adventure. Thank you for the motivation.

Loving this thread. Any camera that makes you enjoy life, go out, and take photos is the best camera. And the X-E1 is wonderful! The product launch of it was done with Pinkhassov, my favorite photographer ever, so I love it.

really great throughs ulysses, I've had a hard time talking on camera in the past before learning to write my videos before pressing record. most people think they can just ad lib the whole thing but it rarely works that way!

Really curious about your mic and audio settings (a rode boom mic with XLR jack I think?). Your videos look AND sound great! Would love to see the gear video that you hinted at too! :) It's indeed really difficult to make compelling RU-vid video's but I really like the learning process of it and just embrace that my video's aren't that good - and that this will always be a 'work in progress'. Thanks for the great video!

Hey man! I used the Rode NTG3 for these vids- amazing boom mic.
@meos
@meos 11 месяцев назад
@@UlyssesAokiPhoto Thanks! Might upgrade to that one at some point. Currently using a Rode VideoMic NTG and it's alright for now, but the jump in quality from yours is definitely very noticeable. It probably doesn't help that I suck at editing/fine-tuning audio :^)

After a year on YT I already experienced burnout, hah. It's a hard job! Working and producing GOOD CONTENT after work and being CONSISTENT is freaking hard. And on top of that, when you are a small channel, RU-vid isn't pushing your videos so you feel like there is no point. And looking at yourself when I am editing is TRAUMATIC xD

Always been very intrigued in videography mostly cinematic nature,wildlife,street settings, but I’m not one to nor do I think I will ever be interested in talking over video, I’ve wondered if there’s still ways to make do with this, videos with only b roll? Maybe music videos? I’m motivated to find my niche
@AliasEveWatches

Awesome tips! By the way, how do you decide on how to place music on a video? It's something I'm observing all around RU-vid and people have different styles on how they incorporate it. When I try it, it just seems so awkward.
@UlyssesAokiPhoto
@UlyssesAokiPhoto Год назад
Thanks for this. Yes, that's actually an extremely nuanced and hard process. It took time for me to pace the music correctly too. A few tips that I'm still learning: - Change the music when you want to change the pace of the video. Transitions to complement the music change also can help set the pace. - You don't have to switch music all the time... but try not to use the same music for too long, it can get noticeably irritating for the viewer. - Keep in mind the pacing of your video- where do you want the viewer to feel tension? Where do you want them to just relax? Or is there a section where you want them to feel emotional? Place music that complements these decisions. - If the music is licensed, feel free to cut the music up in ways that suit you. I might only use a specific part of a track that I like. For example, the song I used in the intro of this video for the tension build up, is only the beginning to a song. And as I mentioned in the video, find music that feels similar to the vibe you're emitting in the video. An example, I love prog metal, fusion, ambient/experimental instrumentals, and hiphop with very low sub bass. All of those don't fit my way of presenting myself lol
