Thanks to a chap called Sean and Manchestervacs, we have a thing to look at today! A cordless vacuum cleaner from Makita, that takes 2 batteries and, sadly, harks from the dark ages of cordless vacuum cleaners. But, it's still a cordless form factor that hasn't been replicated yet, so let's have a look and see what the Makita DVC560 is all about!

We remember commenting about the Makita DVC560 around ten months ago when Sam got to play with the Sebo BP60. We've had two of these Makita machines for well over twelve months now. For the price we paid for two, new, bare machines, four pattern batteries @5.0ah and a four dock charger (second hand) we would still have plenty change from the cost of a single BP60. You are correct that low and medium settings aren't great but for our use case on lots of low pile carpet that seldom gets dirty they are great for maintenance cleans in between proper sweeps with our BS36. The motors in our machines are all brushless - both suction and brushroll. They are very quiet even on full power - around 70db. We get around half an hour of use on full power using the two 5.0ah batteries. The genuine 5 litre Makita bags aren't too pricey at around £20 for ten and they are excellent for dust retention. After all this time the inside of the bag housings are still clean and the hepa filters have not darkened appreciably. The headlights are useful, the wand is handy for edges, cobwebs and the like. Overall we like these machines and they've given us no trouble so far. They feel tough and very well put together. We like that they are stable and stand up on their own We wish that hair and threads wouldn't wrap onto the brushroll so readily. It does come out easily though and is quick to clean up. We also wish the genuine LXT batteries were a bit more reasonably priced but the pattern ones we've got have been fine. We can understand many people not getting along with a DVC560 but aware of their shortcomings they still provide us with a reliable, dependable and versatile tool. Great video on a seldom seen vac. We are looking forward to progress on the Felix Classic project.

Hey. It is the same as what did my hotel in Singapore have. But someone have been abused it by never step on the reclined pedal to lay flat on the floor and cannot rolled on the back wheels without the motorised nozzle raise of the floor. They just recline by pull back without stepping on the green pedal. They not used to an upright vacuum. I wish that you, Mr Taiyat, Mr Doran and Roger come to Singapore to teach them how to use an upright vacuum

Great form factor but it seems a tad.....well......underpowered? Sometimes cordless isn't best im afraid! But I love the looks of the thing Sam. And the motor noise is neither noisy or annoying so using it all day long in a contract environment would be a pleasure - if only it performed well. Get it to tayyab for a real torture test......no hang on ...... best not as its not yours 😂

Interesting machine. Never heard of it before. Is it only a UK machine?

I’ve had the US version for a number of months now and the suction frankly makes it rubbish. I wanted to love it (mostly due to the price I paid), but it clogs constantly because it’s not powerful enough to suck up anything slightly heavier than crumbs. It does actually use both batteries at once and is a true 36v machine. Absolutely avoid this one Sam, it will be a waste of your money. I haven’t been this disappointed in a vac in quite a long time. Great video as always though!!
