I am now wondering if that power switch is a safety feature required in Japan, but not here. Who knows.

You kind of get used to the power button, but if I switched to another brand and came back, it was annoying again.

I have the brush cutter X2 version, but the power switch only disables after a few minutes of non use, not immediately when the trigger is released. I think on my X2, it has some sort of pressure release switch that activates when it hangs on you - that makes the switch not engage right away. I may be wrong though…

The power switch is a huge pain. Otherwise I love the trimmer.

I have about 8 electric string trimmers. I will probably skip the expense of an electrician and just use one of the ones that works the way I like. But an electrician could probably do it.

Yes it does. Nice unit if you have Makita batteries.

It would be difficult because the zip tie would also go around the trigger.

Not sure why you want to go down in size. I am using .080 and it works fine.

@@FernbarkFrist Well actually I am using .080 myself also. This guy in a video was using that line and was having very good luck with it on this same trimmer I have! What I'm really looking for is a better head setup that will fit this Makita XRU12SM1 trimmer, it came with the old style that has to be taken apart and re rapped. I personally just don't like this style, wanting something quicker to load. The trimmer itself is great, and light weight. Got it on clearance for half price and plus I already had some other 18v Makita batteries and charger. Do you know of anything? It could even be a aftermarket off brand head?

I am going to try to film one this week. No promises, lol.

Sorry, I am not familiar with that version. I just have this one. They might be similar. Manufacturers will change the model number on the same unit so retailers don't have to price match.

I has been a while, but going to guess it was around 20 min.

It cuts the string when you feed it out to the correct length.

That's what I'm wondering for my Makita trimmer just like his with one 18v battery. Any luck on finding a better head for this trimmer? Let me know guys? Thanks
