I couldn’t get an adapter a few months ago . And they were very expensive I made on from some 10 mm acrylic sheet and cut 2 bars . Grooved out for one of the guides . It’s approx 18 inches long so it doesn’t skip at front and end of the board . It’s abs spot on . Could prob make the same in ply . Just got to make sure your groove is spot on . No play in it .
Hi Terry. If I couldn't have got the rail adapter I did, I think I would have tried to go the same route as you.😛 Sounds like you've got a great and cheap adapter there.😎 Cheers.
So what's the advantage of using my brushless saw on a rail? Same depth of cut as my track saw and tracksaw is more refined to use and has better dust collection 🤔
Hi there. The dedicated Makita plunge saw is superior in every way, for its intended purpose, to a DHS580 adapted to fit on the guide rail. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to have both saws, so using the adaptor to mount a saw you may already have, (and can be used for many more jobs than a dedicated plunge saw), is a great option. 👍 Thanks for your comment.
@@JBSeymour Hi. I have found the DeWalt 165 blades are a great blade for general site work. (they are on special offer at the moment at Toolstation for less than £12.00. 😎. Cheers.
@@JBSeymour I won’t argue with you about the DeWalt blades, as I put the stock 40 tooth ‘Precision Trim’ blade, that came with my 20 volt DeWalt 7&1/4 inch sliding miter saw, back on, after having had a 60 tooth Freud blade on it! But I will take exception as most, and I stress, ‘most,’ of the MakIta blades have been alright. YMMV. Peace!
If you had bought the dcs 579 instead of the 578 that comes with a track capable base that fits on the dewalt guide rails/tracks or you can actually. Up the base as a part on it's own and fit that on to your 578, this is if it would be useful for you to have that capability m8. Funnily enough I've just found the 579 kit with the two batteries for nearly fifty pounds cheaper than the 578. Also I saw your 578 video and noted you saying that you will be looking to buy some extra batteries, you can currently get the 54v/9ah batteries on sale for £130 or have you ever seen the third party chinese batteries for the dewalt tools,on amazon ATM there is a third party flexvolt battery for £70, it is a 6.0ah one though if that is of any use to you bud.
Its interesting you mention about the 579 track base being available as spare part. One thing I noticed about the 578 base is that it is slightly bowed probably due to the way its been pressed rather than cast which is a little disappointing. I've got six 6ah batteries at present, but, as you suggest, the 9ah ones will probably suit these 190mm saw better. Cheers.
You'd think that Makita would sell the metal bars separately. Bit shameful making you buy the plastic bit twice just to fit another saw when it's a common part.
Hi there. Its not best approach really. The guide with the shorter bars was half the price of the guide with the longer ones. 😵 Thanks for watching and your comments. 😎 Cheers.
