This saw is a nice tool. Very good power with the 2x 18V batteries. Great as a regular saw, but really nice to use with a track. I bought two 55" powertec tracks. The tracks are great, identical to Makita except the rubber was not positioned exactly right. I was able to pull it off and put it on right. Im not a 100% professional, mostly handyman and remodeling a few family owned rental properties. I plan to use the track for cutting down plywood and trimming doors. Might work for some flooring as well. Also going to try it on the roof for roof sheathing. Great saw if you are on the Makita batteries already.

Thanks for the review! Still looking forward to a follow up video as there is literally nothing else on RU-vid about this saw! I think I made up my mind though and want this saw so I can use it as a regular saw and on the track!

What makes this so great is the 7.25 blade the blades for my festool track saw are not cheap. When you cut materials that might have nail it hurts the wallet

Great video. Ran across this while doing some research on the regular Makita track saw. I'm curious just how accurate your saw is vs. the regular track saw. Tilting doesn't matter for me; 99.9% of the cuts I make are 90 degrees, and I rarely make plunge cuts. If the accuracy is the same, this seems like a great alternative to the other model regardless of price. The only cons I can tell for my purpose is the lack of dust collection and having to deal with the blade guard.

It comes with a dust port attachment

The track saw compatible base for the XSH08 is available as a separate replacement part. Would be great if someone is able to check if that base can also be used with the XSH06 saw.

I put an XSH08 base on my XSH06 saw. The saw is identical except for the base. However there is no simple base kit to buy and easily swap. There are 5 main components and about 25 screws, bolts, knobs and springs to the XSH08 base. I had to order them and assemble. It was about $135 for the parts. Once the base is all assembled, its an easy swap, then a few minutes to square everything and tighten using some blue locktite.

@@Nick-rs9yh Thanks for the info. Didn't realize the additional screws and knobs would add up to be so much. I know the base itself is only around $35, I think. $135 is pretty expensive, in my opinion. But I will take a deeper look at all the parts required now. Thanks again.

@@yusuihang Yeah it added up, perhaps all the parts could be found cheaper if you are near a Makita service center and they will order them for you. I had to order from 3 places online. I did pay $2 or $3 dollars for a .20 cent part a few times, plus the shipping. Wait time was bad too. Some parts took a month to arrive. The base is actually made of 4 parts; 1:"Base" 2:"Frame" 3:"Front Angular Plate" 4:"Rear Angular Plate" I bought the XSH06 saw (with dual port charger, two 5ah batteries, and bag) from HD for $250 + tax. It also included as a bonus two additional 5ah batteries. Those bonus batteries can be returned for $99, and I already have a dual port charger, so I could sell the new charger for $40 - $50 bucks. In that situation + $135 for track-compatible base could be a good deal. So it really depends on if you have more money or time, and what you need or just want. Track saws in general are great for on-site work and for people who dont have big table-saws at home. Track saws are popular in Europe because of limited space, but pretty rare here in the U.S. I really have only seen door installers use them with any regularity. I always wanted a dedicated corded track saw with vacuum, but I know it would just sit in my garage most of the time. So the XSH08 was a good deal for me. And wow using the track makes straight cuts. The 55" track is heavy enough to stay put on your surface, no clamping needed.

@@Nick-rs9yh Do you need the depth guide stuff too? Would it be possible to get list for the replacement (by item#)? I'm not sure what else is required. And are some the parts from the orginal base compatible? No information anywhere other than this comment haha. Edit: Item#63-100 not including 68/91/92 is what I believe I need. $150 or so.
@Nick-rs9yh
@Nick-rs9yh 2 года назад
@@CowsGoM3ow That sounds right, part number 63 depth guide you do need. its different than the XSHo6 depth guide. One or two little parts can be swapped but I decided its easier to just keep the original base complete in case I ever needed it in the future. So i ordered them all.

So is this the same as the xsho6? If not what differs?

Hello! Is the depth cutting spec based on when the saw is on the track?
@HawkTown28
@HawkTown28 3 года назад
I believe it is without. However the track only adds maybe 1/8", so it is very close either way.
