I’ll never understand how when a man takes time to share a video about something he’s seen people are going to bitch about everything from the video quality to the way he speaks.most of these videos are shot off the cuff so if you want perfect quality go watch Netflix and shut up
Oh come on guys, getting a better video is not as easy as you think. This is on a rocking boat, with a moving shark, with sun reflection on the water. All things considered he did a pretty good job with the camera.
That parts fine, but listen to video w/I looking at it and you'll realize what a Buffoon this guy is. Check that, just got a call from Bugs. "Whata MAROOON!"
@@stephencook7337 Mako's are black/ dark blue on top and torpedo shape, that was a juvenile white shark, if a seal can see the shark, the seal is too agile, normally! A mako short fin and long fin are the fastest shark's in the ocean's.
The Sea Lion is not being dumb. The boat acts as a barrier and allows the sea lion to use the boat as cover. It makes it hard for the shark to try and catch. You will see the same behavior with seals on seal island (Africa) using the boats as cover. The Sea lion has more stamina and agility then the shark so once the initial attack by the shark fails the shark will most likely not be able to catch the seal.
That seal wasn't dumb or stupid. Sharks rely on stealth and the element of surprise when hunting seals, because when a seal is aware of the shark's presence they can easily outmaneuver the shark. Seals are 100X more agile than sharks. I've seen footage of seals taunting and biting sharks due to the shark blowing its cover.
Never ceases to amaze me how well camouflaged sharks naturally are in the ocean. How'd a 18 foot beast sneak up on you, that's how! Never catch me out there swimming
I, too, think it was a Mako shark. The short dorsal fin for one thing. Strange a mako would be that close to shore being they're usually an open ocean species. I scuba dived Catalina Island and did see a large blue shark there cruising at about 50' ft depth ascending from 100' ft. I don't believe it's a juvenile White shark either. Very cool encounter!
People have no idea how many Mako's cruise close to shore at Catalina. A couple days ago I hooked and fought an approx. 8 foot 500 lb mako for 1-1/2 hours. Then released it. This was just past the jet ski rental near Descanso Beach, and only a couple hundred feet from shore. I took video so everyone would believe how close they come in when feeding. Great video thanks for sharing.
@@abab-ml1ym Oof imagine feeling so shitty about yourself you have to go back and comment on someone else's comment from over a year ago. When you really don't know wtf you're talking about. I've been diving and fishing in South California for over 35 years but you're an internet pro. Good lord man, kick rocks.
Whatever kinda shark it is, he ruined your fishing chances for the day. But on the other hand, it allowed you a once in a blue moon opportunity to record some great video of a shark on the hunt. Many don't get to see this type of action. Good for you my friend 👍👍
It looks to me that in the open oceans the sea lion is using the boat as kinda a block to confuse the shark to avoid a strike. The sea lion is smart because their is no cover than the boat.
@@abab-ml1ym I’ve seen a lot of sharks. I’ve caught quite a few too. I’ve seen a few makos up close & personal. Now that whites are all over Cape Cod I hope to see a white soon…👍🏻🦈
I don't think that was a mako shark! A Mako isn't that inquisitive they usually only make a couple of passes on the boat and they leave! White sharks on the other hand are very inquisitive and will circle and hang around for a while! That looked like a juvenile White shark and he is probably just learning how to hunt seals!
It was definitely a Mako and he was only circling the boat because that’s where the seal was hiding. I’m sure the moment the guy took off, he had his meal. 🦭
Dude... That was beautiful.... Even got a hook and wire off a shark and out of the ocean.... Poor sea lion.... I was hoping it would jump on the boat...giving the man a chance to cut it off..
@@abab-ml1ym nope, I used to live out there. Catalina has several resident great whites the short fin makes hangout in the deep channel in between Catalina and Newport beach.
Looks like a teenage white. I know they can swim way faster than what is showing in the video, but, I don't think that Makos EVER SLOW DOWN. Those makos are SUPER fast in the water. I can't be sure unless I was diving in a safe cage. It almost looks like a hybrid mix between white sharks and makos, as they are closely related. My money is on a white shark.
actually if the sea lion can see the shark then the sea lion is perfectly safe. Its the shark at depth that they cant see that can get them. That sea lion has not a worry in the world as long as that is the only shark in the water.
Ridiculous comment, how dumb can you get, it’s a shark eating a seal in real life, go sit down Karen and have Darren bring you something to cool ya off
Ps what u want him to do? Its his phone and what...swim to the other side of shark? Or start boat and scare it off....common man..cant we all just get along
lol sea lion has net around its throat and the world's fastest shark after it...it's doomed. Makos can normally match sea lions for agility and have better endurance underwater. The shark probably singled it out because of the netting slowing it down.
Its a mako guy... And they were in really deep water...and ps all marines life can travel where ever there is salt water...what u cant conceive is not even that imposible....bro.
It's juvenile white, colour not right for either kinds of Mako's, and Mako's take seals whenever they can, when they are adults. Fastest Shark's in the ocean's.
I like that you got great view it’s beautiful to see them do what is natural to them , seal was using boat , but also if mako they fastest shark it would be a race to island . Feel sorry for seal but that’s nature . But l do hope that when you said it was a mako and not white shark that you could catch it 😕. Would rather see the video of it like you did hate seeing sharks hunted .😞
Hes circling the boat because. All the boats feed and chum them up for cage diving now the see boats and what for fries like the sea bass at the restrants on ocean side where ever one throw sea bass french fries
Dude, if you're going to fish in the Pacific, learn your species. That was totally a juvenile White shark. Also, the sea lion used the boat as cover to out maneuver the shark. They've been dodging pointers since they could swim.
I know I’m late to your comment but this guy was right in realizing that it was in fact a Mako shark. They too hunt and eat seals and sea lions. Sorry but it’s not a carcharodon carcharias.
small young shark , , but was it five or six gill slits there ?? i think it was five , !! a MAKO i think , look at snout and very large long pecs . and small sleak area to tail , no distinct white area to bottom of shark , more uniform colouration , big v in tail , probably 8 1/2 to 9 foot long.
no, neither makos nor whites have 6 gill slits. in CA, only the six gill shark (go figure) has six gill slits, and it lives near the bottom mostly. this was most definitely a juvenile white shark. I've seen more than a few.
Ur the only let down with ur negativity...u probably disnt even see whole video...last 80 percent was clear as day and full of awesomeness... If ur just trying to be funny then....nah...not even a chuckle. Humor is not derived from ill will.
Mako shark delivers captain Hook a powerful ecological message about the fishing waste plague*. Imagine a stray hook in your dog's eye and you'll be seeing the compulsive sadistic drive to rip fish from the water with a hook through the face as a no deal for reproduction. Natural selection should have higher standards.
@@abab-ml1ym im immature and you're the one getting offended enough to say something to me... Because i was just lightly busting the dudes balls. What is he your uncle or something like gtfoh 🤣
Your camera skills need some work. You're telling everyone to look at the sharks 🦈. But, you're not filming the sharks half the time. Kind of annoying.
Obnoxious when totally clueless people try to video and totally sucking at it cuz they don’t know how to point cam; and then narrate nonsense. Definitely a mako. Look at pectoral and dorsal fins.
