Sho-bayashi was composed by Ondekoza's Masaru Imafuku and was first performed in 1982 for Shumei's founder's centennial celebration. Well after his passing, and at the Shumei headquarters near Kyoto, Japan, 100 drummers played this song in commemoration of his 100th birthday.
"Sho" means "flight", and this piece conjures the image of youth confidently flying into the future.
Performed at Makoto Taiko's 10th Anniversary Concert at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse on August 22, 2009.
