I lost the love of my life two years ago after 67 years of marriage. When I play SOMEWHERE IN TIME, I close my eyes and he is with me. Thank you for this beautiful music.
This is one of the songs I have added to the list of music I wish to have played at my Funeral/Visitation after my death. Always brought me peace and kept those I have loved and lost close to me once again.
True love never dies. The union of two souls to become one is absolutely beautiful. We were united in marriage in 1966 and had 47 precious years together. Then ALS took his life 10 years ago and my soul was crushed. If only I had one more day in time with him…. I look forward to seeing him again, healed and strong with his beautiful smile. He was the love of my life, the man God brought into my life and feel blessed we had a wonderful family life together. The letters we wrote to each other during his Vietnam service, before we married, bring me much comfort and cherished memories of our young love. This music brings back that beautiful moment in time.
🙏GOOD GOD ALWAYS BLESS YOUR HEART AND SOUL FOR WHAT YOU ARE, I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT GOOD GOD TAKE CARE OF YOUR HUSBAND IN THE GARDEN OF HEAVEN🙏!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorite music ever dedicated to my son who passed away Sept.5 2022..gone too soon..gone forever..gone but not forgotten..just a lifetime memories until i meet him in heaven..i love u my son..see u later!!!
My heart just went "ouch". This time of year must be awful at times, I'm so sorry for your loss. He waits, in a beautiful peace, until it's your time. One:LOVE.
Grant, Your response was Beautiful. I hope my husband can think that way when I am old and confused also. Marriage of 35 years. She does know- just keep saying it to her. RN for 30 years specializing in Dementia Patients. God Bloss
My mother loves Maksim, and his version of this piece. She is dying, ans when I play it, she just relaxes, and says, "My Maksim". She is 94 years old, and will take this song with her to eternity. Thank you...for giving this gift to my mother.
My somewhere in time was when I was 17, I saw the girl I fell in love with and that I was going to marry, I started dating her a week after my 18th birthday, now I am nearly 63 I still see that girl I fell in love with, every day I look at her or hear her voice, I see the beautiful person both inside and outside that I looked at years ago it was love at first sight and it never goes away she is my wife my best friend my lover and everything to live for and if anything happened to her I would be lost and alone but have a lifetime of memories to think about until I meet her again in heaven.
OMG! How blessed we are. Me, not at first sight, but I have known such love, not once, but twice. Both my loves made me a better person, and I bless them both.
This was my mother's most favorite song in the whole world. She passed away today...6/25/21. I played to comfort her while she was very sick, now it comforts me. Thank you Maxim, and the person who posted it.
This piece always bring tears to my eyes. I miss my son, Lemuel so much...I lost him in 2014 due to bilateral pneumonia. He was 32 at that time and a Certified Public Accountant. I always cherish our memories every single day. Nothing is the same without him. As a mother, it hurts so much and nothing can comfort me and can never move on from this grief. I love you and miss you so much my son. Till we meet again.
He is one with universe...Never left you, just another free form. Find him in every bit of beauty nature offers to you. Morning sunshine, blooms, breeze, cheerful babies, anything that could lift your heart.
I feel for you so much. I lost my little girl in 2020. Life goes on, we have others to care for and ourselves. But the pain never ends. I wish you strength and peace.
This is a “beautiful rendition” but is it because of the way it was written or the way the pianist played it? Well, I think it is difficult to separate the two. Here are my comments. Composer: John Barry tells the story of the movie in his well thought-out melody. Add to it the harmonies that he chose, meaning not the just basic chords, but more unusual harmonies that bring out the emotionalism of the music as they relate to the story. And minor keys and tonalities are superb in bringing forth sad, melancholy and heartbroken feelings from the listeners. Then add the orchestral accompaniment with the sounds of romantic strings and you have a win:win performance. Pianist: Without an expressive pianist, this music is still great. Maksim plays very well and matches his playing to the orchestra’s interpretation which further brings out the emotions of the music. Those who love the movie and empathize with the lovers can even be tearful while hearing this sad story in music! The composition of the piano part is not difficult. You see Maksim’s technique in the arpeggios that are played fast and smooth. But not everyone who can play these notes can play it as musically as he did. Yet I wonder why it wasn’t written with more “notes” and more difficulty since this pianist is able to do more, unless the thought was that simplicity states the love story the best. A different kind of a comment: I am used to people dressing nicely, not necessarily in formal attire, but clothing that fits the person well and looks nice with the hair groomed neatly for a performance. It bothered me that he didn’t and I wonder why he didn’t. Perhaps this is always his look. I will learn more about Maksim since I am only familiar with this video. In conclusion, without a fine pianist, the performance would still sound beautiful but Maksim lends his talent wisely to the beauty of the performance!
I just acquainted a beautiful lady from Hong Kong, her lovely husband passed away about 1 year ago due to covid. She often played the piano & violin with motion & passion in front of me...realizing the incredible bond they had before..I dedicated this song to her..wishing there will be a "somewhere in time" that they will meet again..it is just to precious!
All I know is this, if you have a heart, if you have a soul, if you allow yourself to commit to letting the music enter your being, unrestricted, you will feel a depth of emotion that you may never know you had. Beautiful music awakens the most inner part of my being in a way that cannot be described, only felt. Love, with passion, in its purest form is what I long for. But one must always be on guard, lest you allow someone access to your soul when you are so vulnerable to be hurt far beyond what you can express. That's why I listen with headphones on, the light usually turned off, to block out everything except the feeling flowing from the sound that fills my head. I feel the waves of emotion wash over me, again and again. Tears flowing, for pains remembered, for love lost, for what never was, and for the love I have in my life! But always, it's the music that drives my being. I hope whoever reads this, if anyone at all, can appreciate the thoughts expressed, and know that there are others with similar feelings.
When a 19 year old Corpsman with the Marine Corps, I slept in the back of my little dispensary on a Hill North of Danang. At night the Armed Forces Radio would broadcast a program of classical music hosted by Jim Amechi. This theme was the opening and closing of his show. It helped calmed me when I tried to sleep. I love Rachmaninoff. Helped me through Vietnam nights. Doc.
speedviper47 yes, there are others like you. As I lie in bed, lights off, headphones on, seeking out melancholy music I may not have discovered yet, I recall the many times that music like this has touched some emotion buried deep, deep within me. An emotion I don’t share, cannot share, with anyone. Because it is some kind of longing that words can never express, but which music like this speak to. I remember one such time....I was driving home from work, around midnight. I happened to tune to a classical station, when a tune played that instantaneously brought me to tears. To a degree that I actually pulled the car off to the side of the road so that I could fully listen to and appreciate the new beauty I had been graced to hear. As the melody reached seemingly new heights of emotion with each phrase, I just broke down and cried like I never have before or since. This was before the internet age, and so hearing the DJ say what this heavenly piece of music was was the only way I could know what it was. And I HAD to know. I understood just enough of the composer’s name to piece it together, ultimately finding the music that moved me like nothing else ever has. Zdenek Fibich’s ‘Poeme’. It was a sweeping orchestral version and it is pure magic to me. If I could suggest anyone reading this to give that a listen in hopes it does some version for you what it did for me. And now, my journey to discover more musical beauty continues...
@@docclayton30 First, thank you my brother in arms, for you service to our country. I too, am a Vietnam vet. Very young, I was only looking to survive and return home. So many of our comrades didn't make it. That is extremely sad to me, even today. They had dreams, just like the rest of us, but their lives were cut short and their dreams never attained. Many left wives and young children which makes me cry just thinking about their loss.
I heard this played live at a symphony orchestra concert. I became so overwhelmed by emotion and began to cry. It was like I had lived this song. Very powerful. If you get a chance to hear it live, do it!
This is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever listened to and makes me so emotional. My darling husband died of a heart attack 16th September 2018, one day after his birthday. He would have loved this music too. I think of him every time I hear this marvellous music. Thank you.
One the most beautiful and romantically haunting songs ever composed in western music. When I was 17 or 18 I bought the music sheet for this and learned to play it on the piano. Thank you John Barry.
At my age and with my past I am not ashamed to say that I'm listening to this with tears, not ashamed at all as even Marines have feelings from long ago. What happened to yesterday ???
I remember this movie and I watched it several times and now I always listen to the music of Somewhere in Time . I love the music of this man . It is a very powerful music .
This beautiful music makes me feel as if I were in another world....romantic world! Many years ago ,I saw the film Somewhere in time. I love the film and this music . Maksim 's piano tones are so beautiful and best pianist to this melody!
Maksim's beautiful rendition of "Somewhere in Time" is tremendously special and meaningful to me because it was my Dad's favorite piece. He passed away suddenly and regretfully, I never got the chance to tell him how much I loved him. I know I'll see him in Heaven someday, and listening to Maksim play this beautiful rendition helps me cope with missing my dearest Papa. There's not one day that goes by when I don't think about him, I miss my Dad dearly. 🙏🏻💕🙏🏻
I can truly relate to you. I lost my dad last year to covid. I was on my way to be with him but I live in another country and I didn’t make it in time to say I love you and see you soon dad. 😭. Two days after his funeral my mum passed away with a broken heart. I am completely gutted. I will never get over it. There’s not a single day I don’t miss them both and cry. This song opens up thousands of wonderful memories of our times together growing up.😞
One of the most beautiful pieces of music every written! John Barry is a genius! The music is hauntingly romantic, sad, and beautiful all at the same time!
My somewhere in time is when I met my Wife to be was in 1974. we still have our ups and downs, but we are still in LOVE after nearly 44 years of being together!
My somewhere in time is in 1965, when I met my husband to be, we were married for 52 years. I lost him 4 months ago. We had many ups and downs, who doesn,t, we never stopped being in love with each other, and I know we,ll be in love with each other for eternity.
My dear wife died a month ago. I am now just existing. I am now on the path of life by myself without her by my side. She was my rock, my better half, my lover, and my best friend. I miss her dearly everyday, and it breaks my heart everyday to live in this world without her. This is such a beautiful song, it makes me think of her so much, a beautiful song, but it rips my heart out...I love you Always and Forever my dear sweet Cathy. Please wait for me at Heaven's Gate when I pass away...then we will be together forever.
I understand totally how you feel - it is now 17 years since my husband died, I miss him every day but somehow I keep going and music like this helps xx
How you will make this is to imagine and believe she will be at that gate waiting only for you. Remember you are never alone in this world and you were so blessed to have had her as long as you did. Try to connect with your eyes closed and your heart and soul and you will see her then remember all the memories you two had and feel the love and it will never go away because you chose the love of your life it will never end. Good luck keep the faith and all the dreams alive until you do see her she will be there. Take care of yourself 🙏😊❤
Maksim is rare. He not only feels the music, he can SEE it. not all who play can. THIS is how it was meant to be played. Bravo. My favorite Musician of all time.
I think most of us have a lost love in our past someone we loved but were to shy to Them and will always hold them in our hearts for the rest of our lives
Sylvia Csaszar, As another old love song goes, "Love is a many splendid thing". So this song represents a slow kind and gracious love. When the music of love is written, it should always sound as this.
im only 20 years old but this music makes me feel like ive lived for centuries and im recalling a past memory that is painful but at the same time liberating and i will cherish forever. timeless.
I have read so many posts, all beautiful, but you are only 20 years old and you sound as though you already have had a life time of experience. Your words and thoughts are very moving, congratulations.
James Lam I know where you’re coming from the man I love doesn’t want me and I still cry over him. I listen to this music for an emotional release. This haunts my memory too.
IMO this is the best interpretation of one of the most memorable & emotional romantic movie theme ever made. It really speaks to the emotive feelings of Richard and Elise and to the deep love they've had with each other.
this is the most beautiful song ever written and he plays it with such passion! I could listen to this for hours. I love this music , it makes me like flying somewhere
Thank you for this masterpiece Maksin, i used it for the video of my grandparents 50th anniversary. One of the best moments in my life and for my grandparents, all the people in the party were crying.
Maksim has the most beautiful rendition of Somewhere in Time. Love the music and the pianist and the orchestra. Brings back memories of the past- the bittersweet , painful parting , unrequited love, and the loss of a dearly beloved. Great job, Maksim!
12:53am Arizona USA time This was one of my mom’s favorite music & each time i hear this i think of our happy days watching this movie and every time i hear this perfect rendition i cry because now she has Alzheimer’s and it’s a long goodbye!!!

the last thing I remember my father playing on the piano before he got suddenly ill and died...I miss him so very much...this music brings him back to me
As a young child I fell in love with this song from the movie (and the movie itself). I believed that true love was "real" and this song brought the emotion of "Love" in to my heart and soul, never to be lost. Oh how I love this piece of mastery!
The flowing and hunting melodies of MAKSIM-SOMEWHERE .....is soooooo beautiful to hear....it brings tears to my eyes! I love the piano sounds that add realism of you being involve in every note emphasized to bring you total ecstacy!
This...is how Somewhere in Time is meant to be played; This...is how it is meant to be interpreted; This...is how it is meant to sound...This is John Barry's masterpiece...
Ah, John Barry, magnificent composer of the music of one of my favorite movies, starring handsome, Christopher Reeve and the beautiful Jane Seymour. You did a splendid job interpreting this piece. Thank you.
Thanks to Barry & Jane being friends. This Movie was a lower budget with no money to have a song. Jane asked Barry to Please write something. Wow just Wonderfully done & this Rendition is Heavenly 💞
Wow , this is first time l ever heard piece from Maksim . Oh my gosh. He is so amazing . He put so much passion unto this piece of music . That's what makes this music so amazing .
helena, that is so thoughtful of you. we all are love and that is beautiful. the thing is, love is so busy, love does so much. there is so much to do as we are love. love must conquer all. love is such a busy body. so much to do for love.
helena, we are all this beautiful. when birth joins death and there is no time, there is no life, just love, then this is charity. all that remains is charity. the song is very fitting for the elections today.
Thank you all for sharing all your beautiful thoughts and love here. Music the best medicine, it helps heal pain from lost love and love. I received a big verbal HUG from you all tonight. I really needed to feel today. Thank you💖
John Barry had recently lost both of his parents within a short time of each other and then was asked to create the theme for the movie. Perhaps, to me, the greatest piece of music I have ever heard. The melody is so engulfing and every single note of the piano touches my heart and soul. I can listen to this for hours and hope the music never ends. I know there are lyrics and I have listened to vocalists but none of them do justice to the song. But, there is one vocalist in the world who could meet the challenge and bring the experience of feeling the essence of the melody to an even higher degree, one in which the audience will be in awe and brought to tears by her magic. Her initials are AJ.
@@sianesoetanto4582 Angelina Jordan. Suggestion: Please listen to her sing 'What A Difference A Day Makes' when she was 8 years old. PLEASE, this is not a joke. She is now 16 but the song I suggested for you to listen to will make you understand how special she is. Enjoy.
This music was written for the movie "Somewhere In Time" filmed here in Michigan on Mackinac Island. (the islands name is from the Native American Ojibwe tribe who name it Mitchimakinak meaning big turtle because of its shape reminded them of a turtle) One of the most beautiful scores ever written for a film. This version is absolutely stunning and beautifully emotional. If you are not effected by its gloriously, breathtakingly, transformative beauty ... then you probably do not have a soul. This video is brilliant and transports one beyond time and space. Maksim is a god of musical talent. He takes my breath away. Beautiful! (and thank you, John Barry, for writing such a magnificently beautiful film score) 💞
I love you. Ivan , you made me always missing my mother who passed way in 1915. My mom was a professor. She Always opened this music video for me and I grew up with this music. Your talent video made me had a wonderful memory. Thank you. Ivan 🌹🌹🌹
Once you've heard this most beautiful piece of classical music, it will NEVER leave your mind again! 🎶Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything. (Plato)
I listen to this when I need to clear my head. It makes me to gain perspective. I get a very refreshed sensation. Beautiful mix of instuments…….Strength!! Wow May 12, 2019
This beautiful piece says it all. It brings me back to times in my life I never want to forget or let go of I am now a young 72 year old woman that always loved love and their is no greater feeling I believe in my heart and soul that I will ever feel. The movie was one of my favorites and no one can sum it up better than the way you yourself can ever feel in your masterpiece of playing and capturing it for all to feel there forever love as you. Thank you for loving and giving of your heart and your gift to share with everyone who ever hears and feel the way you have
This is January 2021. The world is going through so much. High anxiety, wondering what is in the future for us all. Worry, concern and angst is a life style for so many. Listening to this most fantastic rendition is so peaceful. Feelings of love sneaks into my mind and being listening to this. It’s not so much of the love of a certain person, but that feeling of love that helps us all. Thank you so much for recording this. Stellar!!!!!
I have been widow for 7 yrs.. This music brings back memories of how I live and my love towards my husband, everyday, I listen to this..morning, midday and evening before closing my eyes at night! It soothes my soul and the emptiness I felt in life... whatever I m doing I always listen never get tired,, ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I never tired of listening Maksim’s version of Somewhere in Time. Saw this movie long time ago n I cannot forget the music n what the movie is about. The music is very uplifting and makes me teary eyed. Very haunting, touching the deepest of my heart.
