I first saw Makua on VH1’s True Life Surfing episode. Now more than a decade later Im so happy to see him happy, healthy, and thriving with a beautiful home and family. Im wishing him and his family nothing but the best, keep surfing big dawg! 🙌🏽

nice one WSL....this is cool being able to get a little insight into the homes, board rooms and lifestyles of surfers we love and admire. Makua seems like a really nice guy and deserves the many blessings we see here. Look forward to more of these.

you clearly have never been to the northshore. these guys are the most despicable people from the northshore of oahu. I got into trouble once with his family when one of their "recently out of prison" bodyguards decided nobody could surf that day because the rothmans went into sunset. they began running over(literally) over other surfers to get an excuse to kick them out of the beach. this whole aloha crap is fake.

This guy is living the kind of life i wished i would live in my late teens early 20's. I got land locked in Atlanta for 20 years but I'm moving back to the beach in June and i can't wait. And i still have my board so I'm good to go.

No doubt! I’m locked in myself in Alabama. I hope they know how lucky or blessed they are to live on the north shore! I couldn’t imagine waking up every morning and seeing those waves and smelling fresh fruit! Ahh I can always dream!! Lol

Makua would be the type of dude to knee your face in if you messed up on a wave or accidentally snaked him. Considering you'll be starting to surf again after twenty years, you better be care out there lol, because there are dudes like him and they will smash your face in. Going to see Makua in concert this summer in Florida. He's with Steel Pulse and Lettuce Talk about a Hawaiian Funky Raggae Party! I'm sad it took me this long to find his music. Glad now though

I only knew who Makua was and didn't know a damn thing about him. It looks like he's done well as a professional surfer. He seems like a really awesome human and has a beautiful family as well. I think he exudes the qualities of a true Hawaiian and waterman. I really love these short profiles of the surfers who live and breathe this lifestyle. Keep it up and God bless Makua!

really annoying to see people posting this crap. This dude's family runs the whole north shore drug network. I have been harassed by their da hui "bruh just got out of prison" assholes while surfing there several times and saw people get kicked out of surf spots because "the rothmans were around" I used to live in the north shore of hawaii. a big reason why I left was because it was a nightmare to surf when these fuckers were around. they ruin a beautiful sport and want to pretend they are good people. google his dad and all the crimes he has been accused of.
