Mal Meninga at St Helens 1984-85

Captured my imagination as a kid. One of my most memorable seasons as a Saints fan. That Premiership was the first ever trophy I saw us lift too.

I met him in the steyne pub in 1991 in manly, im 25, on me todd,left St Helens looking for a job, i somehow ended up down under.. hes at bar wi wally lewis n geoff toovey.

I love the fact how he wasn’t supposed to sign with them but did anyway.

What a player, great memories I never missed a game.

Mal Meninga inspired me as a League tragic, What a player , What a career , Sheer strength and skill , Captain, Leader :)

Fantastic player. This was while he was at Souths in the QRL.

Meninga was playing when I was took to my first Saints game as an 8 year old back in November '84 against Barrow. Just one season with us but he's still a legend in St Helens.
