@@BrianAwesome yes she is. She is the daughter of Zor-El, brother of Jor-El. She and Kal-El are cousins. I bet you did not know Jor-El had any siblings, did you?
A fan fiction story I plan to start on Wattpad will have a Kryptonian who does not go bad after she arrives on Earth, if you'd be interested in having a look.
I hate how RU-vid keeps disabling comments on these. Most of the people who remember this show are in their 30s by now. This group doesn't need protecting. Let people discuss their shared nostalgia in peace.
Seriously I've been getting tired of the childishization of this platform for years and they've taken it to a whole new level with these recent changes. It's beyond ridiculous and doesn't make any kind of sense whatsoever yet they continue to push it further and further. I'm getting real close to saying burn the platform down to the ground and start from scratch...
Part of the appeal of watching these on RU-vid is the sense of community and discussion about what we liked/disliked/found funny. All of that is completely lost when they turn off comments.
"No doubt they plan to populate the world with Kryptonians!" Damn, Lex, there's only two of them. Mala's only got one womb. How busy do you think they're gonna be to populate a world?
To be fair, he would have no way of knowing how fast Kryptonians reproduce. For all Lex knew, they could lays clutches of at least 20 eggs that hatch in a week, and be ready to make another batch in a day. And given all the wacky things Superman can do like fly and shoot lasers, there's a non-zero percent chance of him being right. Kryptonian biology is bonkers under a yellow sun.
Not to mention it might still feel unpleasant, or cause the body to do a reaction. Wind typically doesn't hurt, but if someone blows some air into my face I'll probably flinch even if it was an unexpected breeze. Or how a spray bottle of water or sudden bright lights.
I think it would’ve been interesting if Mala stayed good and been romantically involved with Superman, it would’ve been random, but I still think it would’ve been interesting
The original Mala from the comic books was actually a different character, for one thing Mala was a man in the comic books, and instead of serving Jax-Ur, he was always a bad guy on Krypton along with his brothers, Kizo and U-Ban. The Animated Series version actually has a lot in common with a completely different character named Maxima, who also appeared in the Animated Series as a super strong potential love interest for Superman who Clark had no interest in. In the comics, Maxima actually does become a good guy and joins the Justice League International (which was also the JL that fought Doomsday in the famous Death of Superman comic).
@@darkmask5933 I also thought she was similar to Maxima, and I know that Lois Lane is the one he is with, but I think a lot of Superman fans have thought about it. I like Batman and Catwoman becuase both of them are strong, can defend themselves, and damsel type love interests are just bad nowadays. I own one comic where Superman and Maxima actually become a couple: Adventures of Superman Annual #3, pretty good, could’ve done more stories like that. I think it’s interesting ideas to consider, I like to think about What Ifs, I also just don’t like how just about every other Kryptonian is evil, so I would’ve liked if Mala could’ve stayed good.
@@codafett I like that people can introduce their own stories, their own ideas into what is already established. Like the DCAU had a lot of awesome and original content, and it’s success will never be repeated. Speaking of, RIP Kevin Conroy, we miss you.
@@carsenmaxwell3336 Superman suffers from Spider-man syndrome where he only has two love interests that the general public remembers (for Supes it Lois and Lana, for Spidey its MJ and Gwen, both also have a slightly less known third love interest that's like part of their superhero worlds, for Spidey its Black Cat, for Supes its Lori Lemaris, but good luck finding anyone who actually thinks they should be together over the first two). As a result, any time they try and pair Supes up with anyone else, like Maxima or Diana, people turn up their noses at it.
This Superman never felt like a god but a really strong guy who would make mistakes and see the hood in people and though he would lose sometimes he always saved the day
Yeah when my boy Batman showed up in his series he told him that he's not going to have no vigilantes running wild and his city. At least Batman wouldn't level a whole city like Superman and his rouge gallery of villains
Superman wasn’t always the brightest.. let me teach you not only how to use your powers, but hand to hand combat and THEN consider sending you back to the phantom zone.
Not surprised by Lex's reaction at all. "They're gonna outbreed us and conquer the earth!" It's not likely that Kryptonian populations would flourish very soon, but from the Earthling standpoint, for all we know, a Kryptonian matures from child to adult in a couple of weeks. A few love sessions and the new king and queen could create a lasting dynasty. Also, we know that Supes himself is strong. Just Kal, Mala, and their son could be enough to conquer half of the world at least.
It amazes me how sometimes characters are created with the intention of being villains and the clue to this is in the meaning of their name, as Sinestro is. And now I find out that there is a Kryptonian named Mala. Wow...
This is exactly why I’m glad Kryptonians are pretty much extinct. This species is too dangerous to exist. Superman is just lucky to be taken in by good people so his power doesn’t corrupt him.
The fact that Kryptonians are so intelligent and have the potential to be dangerously strong is scary. It's weird they didn't try to take over planets like the Viltrumities. An alternative universe of Kryptonians ruling would be awful
@@googleuser7454 Ah yes so the Injustice comics exist, although Clark is the only living Kryptonian to realize that, his cousin Kara with the help of the insurgents choice to help stop him, its a good read.
To bad super criminals exist regardless, they all see Earth as a problem because humans are in fact too dangerous to exist, yall off each other in the millions cause of the need to feel above each other, mean while cosmic level beings point n laugh knowing they can snap their fingers and we cease to exist. But yes Kryptonians are the problem, who btw killed themselves, or if we're talking Injustice, Brainiac.
He was by an old Time Farmer WHO lived outside the City and was told to BE nice . My farmboy IS very weak against City Girls and assertive women. I mean how could Jonathan know that His sons Rookie mistakes in Dating the wrong Girl could be that devasting?
This is why Superman needs Batman. Superman screwed up the whole situation while Batman would've found a way to keep her under control. She didn't start off evil. She just wanted to be useful at first.
Seems like most of you don't know the difference between manipulating a neutral situation to avoid a negative one and raising your kids. Batman know the difference and Batman knows which one is harder.
@@Kagamid There IS no difference between those two things, you know that right? In order to raise kids, you have to try and keep control, or at the very least neutral. Guess who failed spectacularly at that the second time around? I'll give you a hint, he's got pointy black ears, control freak tendencies, and the emotional comprehension of a sea slug. Besides, knowing him, his first instinct probably would have been to depower her entirely, or throw her back into the phantom zone just cause.
Rewatching it I just realised how much of a creep Mala really was. She straight up forced herself on a man much weaker than her who was also working directly under her and had in no way to turn down her advances and she knew that. You can even tell by the look on his face that he WAS NOT enjoying it either.
superman can't he usually wears a space suit. Though superman can hold his breath for a long time to survive in space and underwater for a limited amount of time.
Weird that Krypton had planetary defenses if they didn't even have space ships to leave their planet with/space travel was forbidden. At least they couldn't counter and invading force with their own ships. Wonder what Krypton would rate on the Kardashev scale- still a type 1 because they only have one planet?
I imagine in a different realm, there’s a variant of MALA, who realized that all the bad deeds, she once did in the past were awful. And she deserved her punishment, of being imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. An so once she was released, from the Phantom Zone, she decided of her own free-will, to try her best to learn to do genuine good. In addition I imagine in time, MALA slowly became, the first female Super-AntiHero. I imagine many years later, MALA develops genuine romantic feelings, for a male alien scientist, and the two work together to save two worlds. Now I imagine this variant of MALA, has dirty-blonde hair, green eyes, is 5’11 tall, and has a small scar on her left shoulder.
More Like its hard to make so much destruction everytime because Superman often Fights in the Comics villains on His Level and the insane amount of Power would BE a Bit too much on every single Episode
@@laisphinto6372 I’m talking more so how Superman isn’t as invincible in this show compared to others. He noticeably struggled at times against villains who weren’t as formidable compared to others.
Just like Superman said in that movie: “Unlike you Bruce, I don’t see the bad in people.” If Bruce decided to release Mala, he would not have much trust in her and keep a back up plan in handy.
@@codafett Honestly I adore the DCAU version of Superman but they seemed to lean harder into melodramatic and forced conflict than BTAS so it'd lead to more bombastic visuals. This def seemed like a way to stir the pot so she'd turn on Clark. Edit: In his defense he didn't say he WOULD just he'd HAVE to if she used her gifts for selfish purposes.
Continuity issues to be honest. They shouldn’t have nowhere near Superman’s strength. He’s been bathing in the yellow for years. Compared to them, he’s a giant to a flea.
I always dug how Lex would shift to full-on good guy mode when faced with an evil Kryptonian. It's like he must oppose them regardless of circumstances.
It's more like self-preservation; Superman has a moral code that don't let him take a humam life , but Mala will just rip off his spine and go on with her life.
@@kuno3336 he opposed him because Superman was better than him. At first the government paid him, and he thought it'd be easy. But even the imperfect clone outsmarted him, it hurt him. Lex is pure arrogance.
Mala could’ve been a good ally, but she let the power and her pride take over her mind. She was actually pretty nice at first. Heck her and Supes could’ve even been friends. But sadly she set her fate on the darker side.
If they approached her as a soldier she might have acclimated better. "This is your mission, you represent the last of Krypton and must maintain a professional manner" speech. The big issue was suggesting she would be put in prison for not fitting in as opposed to committing a crime.
She was a bad guy from the start. She only acted different due to the shock of finding out her planet was destroyed and getting used to her new powers from the Earth's sun, but after that she got back on track to being evil again.
I only saw that she got mad when everyone even Superman rejected her. She had potential, she just needed more patience & guidance. Superman also rejected Connor (SuperBoy), a haft Kriptonian. He felt so uncomfortable around Super Boy that he didn't even help Connor with his powers.
Mala is the perfect example of suddenly obtaining powers and letting it go to your head. Clark is such a good hero because he was raised humbly on a farm and basically grew up with nothing. Mala was a soldier who already had power to begin with and now has super powers. Clark understands people because he was an ordinary person like everyone else, so even when he got his powers his morals never changed. Mala doesn’t understand that because she was above the average person and by obtaining power she could control people even more and no one can stop her. The only time Superman’s morals changed was in the Injustice story, but in Clark’s defense that would make even the best of people loose their mind. Clark will always be the most pure Kryptonian because the Kents raised him right and taught him what it is to be a hero. “The helper seeks to help because he knows what it is to be helpless.” -Wander Over Yonder
you're speaking like Mala has always been a soldier. She had a childhood and a civilian life before her career. You"re speaking as if military peoples aren't normal peoples.
Facts. Especially since Mala Was trying to learn from Superman. But he just gave in, to other's views about her. Plus Mala DID make a good point, about repopulating the Kryptonian race.
Always loved the Brianic narrated flashback to showing Mala's background, how Jor-El stopped Jax-Ur's coup. Nice way of tapping into Brainiac's function for Krypton as a keeper of knowledge from the orb Sup's recovered early in season one, and of showing more of Sup's dad as well.
I think this is just me, but I think the person who is voicing Brainiac is the also the voice acter of Agent 47 from the hitman games too. Maybe Hitman Absolution specifically and future onward but idk about the trilogy personally
The "sphagettification" as they're sucked into the black hole is frighteningly realistic. Of course, with what we now know about black holes, their fate would be even *worse* - circling the event horizon in a cloud of glowing plasma, unable to move or escape, for *millions of years* before finally crossing the event horizon. And vaporizing into a pile of X-rays.
@@barrytelesford5265 I'M CERTAIN I'VE SEEN SUPERMAN BREATH AND TALK IN SPACE BEFORE. WHAT ABOUT WHEN HE FLEW LOIS OUT INTO SPACE THINKING SHE WAS DOOMSDAY? 😅
Superman: Now use your powers responsibly Mala: Of course. It's not like I was locked up abusing my authority in a dimension of suffering that totally didn't make me more or less unstable; helped no less by having sudden super powers thrust upon me without years to temper myself and respect others without them. Superman:...okay, back to the Phantom Zone you go...
Batman: TAS had a bigger core of recurring villains that allowed a variety of stories and character arcs. Joker, Posion Ivy, Harley Quinn, Two Face, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Killer Croc, Mr. Freeze, Rash Ail Ghoul, Scarecrow, and Bane (if you include New Adventures since Bane was late into BTAS) were a big group of recurring villains on Batman TAS. Superman adapted more outball rogues that were usually one off episode characters. The only big recurring rogues on Superman TAS were Lex Luthor, Brainic, Metallo, Maxima, the 5th dimension guy (dont know the spelling),Parasite, Bizarro, Liveware, Darkseid later in the series, and Lobo to a lesser extent.
@Clutch Cake Actually, no I didn't realize you were talking about Dames. I always heard baddies as slang for rogues gallery. In that case, I think you're right. If we include new adventures, we have Posion Ivy, Harley, Catwoman, Batgirl, Talia, Zatanna, Batwoman (if we include movies), The Phantasm, that red suit cat lady that Selina and Bruce stop together, Roxy Rocket, and the super strong blonde country girl with those mutated farm live stock monsters. Superman tas has Mala, Lois, Lanna, Supergirl, Maxima, Myxspetilic's girlfriend, Livewire, Valcanna, and the female furries from Darkseid. Does Granny Goodness count as a babe? I ain't judging.
lois treats him like shit and doesnt give af about Clark aka who he really is... literally any other chick (like Volcana or Wonder Woman) would be better for clark
