I said the same thing. He looks so much more relaxed in this environment. This is his real home. And I love that you can just tell he was born for this. If he can do this at 13 I can't wait to see him as he gets older. Everyone keeps going on and on about his voice changing. It doesn't matter he still going to be cool, and phenomenal. And honestly if God wants his singing voice to stay just like it is now, then it will lol.

Lovely Malakai. He is at ease in such high end musical performance as if nothing to it. I hope when his voice is going to change he will continue to be satisfied and happy.
He sings it with such joy, it is inspiring. The only other singer who did it with such natural spontaneity was the late Arleen Auger. You are so right to point out that he is in his element here, comfortable just doing his thing. "Britain's got talent" was a waste of his time. What a wonderful final high note, and such ease in the coloratura. A nice trill, too.

I do so agree with your comments. He was much more comfortable in a sweat shirt and jeans, as any young lad would be. I noticed he sang about a meter from the 2 microphones whereas most other singers (ok - rock and folk) have the microphone almost in their mouth. In addition to his amazing voice, he has such a great personality, the smile is never far away.

I missed the semi-finals, but knew the moment I saw the EAR PIECES/flashy jacket/background movement... Why force that on this child? I'd no interest in any of it, I just wanted to hear him SING! Unfortunately, I cannot believe these distractions were an accident. I've not followed chorus music/opera, but I will for Malikai Bayoh! Hi! I really cringed during O Mio Babbino Caro on BGT. The wrong song! He looked so unhappy and you could hear it in his voice. In-ears are totally wrong for a natural singer like Malakai. The producers got it so wrong.

I sang this piece with my first form school choir (aged about 11 years). We sang it in two parts. Thoroughly enjoyed it - thank you Mrs McCarry (music teacher ) for having enough faith in us to perform it at our first Speech Day.

May all the experiences he had make him grow and flourish. He is already so talented, so gifted that he will sort it out. But I agree, I'd rather see him in this environment, with people that share a classical background. BGT made his audience bigger, maybe that will help bring more people to learn, perform, and attend classical shows
Hi William, in addition to your critiques, I believe the producers of BGT, on purpose for ratings, had him perform last of the eight contestants. It would have been bad enough if this had happened organically but they kept him until last because they knew a lot of his, now, fans were eager to hear his voice again. The whole thing was terribly unfair to him as a young boy and also as a fellow contestant. It was just too much pressure to put on the shoulders of a teenager. The producers, basically, turned BGT into BGT starring Malakai Bayoh.
As a non-musician, I really appreciate your commentaries which give me some insight into the music and the performances. Other reaction videos has mostly oooo and aaaah, which I can do myself. @@BangkokVoiceCoach

Hi William, I am so glad you have reacted to this, with such positivity. I saw on another reaction site 1 month ago I really don't get it. Yes he's a good singer for someone his age. But technically he's not that great at all. He shouldn't really be singing at venues like that with his "talent" Sorry if it sounds harsh, and I do wish him all the best, but he isn't as talented as some are portraying him to be. A voice coach would tell you he's voice is all over the place and has little control. So is his voice all over the place, or is it supposed to be all over the place? The last effort on BGT of Caruso he states that he is 14 so you can see the time difference between him singing with Aled Jones and the last appearance. I do hope that someone like Aled will take him under their wing and when his voice breaks guide him in the right direction. As for the ear monitors, that's why Dimash you see taking one out on occasions, unfortunately Malakai hasn't got the experience to do that.
Yes, I noticed Dimash taking them out. He probably hates them. You know classical singers open their jaw and throat more than pop singers. This means the in-ears just don’t work. Whoever said this nasty negative things about Malakai is simply wrong.
I could listen to this young man sing anything, including this horrible song. What a talented gift he is to us mere mortals. So happy for him that he didn't vanish after BGT and has gone on to greater things.❤❤❤

No, he’s not “singing Castrato.” He has a natural high treble voice which will gradually change as he goes through his teenage years. He is a super talented kid and a great example to his genius.
