A speech as important and historic as Dr Kings "I Have A Dream" . A belated birthday gift to Malala would be if every newspaper worth its ink reprints her speech on its front page. Its only a matter of time before this 16 year old World Leader is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Why would anyone dislike this? I am baffled by the cowardly dislikes. Thank you, Malala, for being such a selfless human being. You give us hope and strength. God bless you. You are a blessing to humanity. I hate to say that the world is unworthy of people like you but we need more people like you. You embody all that is good and more: courage, strength, perseverance, understanding, forgiveness, hope, and love. You have a powerful voice and we are listening. Keep talking. Education = Freedom.

this girl has not done anything for the poor girls of Pakistan. I heard that she is raising money for her charity but is there any check and balance on the funds. Recently many christians lost their lives in Pakistan in a suicide attack by talibans. many were working for poor humanity and there were Christian students who were in the 4th year medical college. Why no one has raised their voice for them, some of them are fighting for their lives, they should get the same kind of treatment.

And a glimpse of life for women under the Taliban "Afghan women were forced to wear the burqa at all times in public, because, according to one Taliban spokesman, "the face of a woman is a source of corruption" for men not related to them.[3] In a systematic segregation sometimes referred to as gender apartheid, women were not allowed to work, they were not allowed to be educated after the age of eight, and until then were permitted only to study the Qur'an" wikipedia

"The US drone strikes have killed about 2,600-3,000 people, including many civilians, through October 2012. The Taliban, Al Qaeda, and members of other militant organizations have killed thousands of civilians in Pakistan using suicide attacks, assassination, and ambushes. In some years, it appears that Pakistani security forces were responsible for the majority of civilian killings." costsofwar . org

Islam was the first religion to advocate for human rights, particularly women's rights. Malala fought for the right to an education, something Islam guaranteed her, and when she was interviewed by CNN several years ago, she said the same exact thing. Islam encourages women to seek an education and gives them the right to their own inheritance and money. Just because a few so-called "Muslims" believe otherwise does not mean that Islam and human rights are incompatible. I implore you to learn.

A very strong girl! This is a story of a strong girl who fights for education to all children. Extremist are dangerous no matter what religion or country they come from! So do not blame Islam! Its poverty and goverments that makes extremists! If the muslim world would get the same as the west for a chance for good ecomomic and education there would not be so many extremist there! The same is if America would be in the same postion as Pakistan, it would make as many Christians extremists!

Malala is right. We are all tired of wars and crimes against humanity. But how can we blame only our world leaders when many of us only speak vulgar, hateful, obscene, and rascist words on RU-vid? How can the world ever achieve peace when even a 16 year old wounded girl fighting for education is verbally abused by commentators on RU-vid? Are you any different from the Talib who shot her?

Congratulations to Malala on her recovery. Amazing speech that many can learn from. Your goals and dreams are praiseworthy and I hope that it comes true. Stay on the right path and do not lose hope. Kind and just people will be rewarded in the end. As for many of you leaving comments that only spew hate, whine injustice, and create division, you have clearly learnt nothing from her speech. You have not learnt anything from the education given to you either.

Ok, sure American drones have killed many people in Pakistan, and American should be held responsible for that. But what about thousands of people who are killed by terrorists talibans in Pakistan? As far as that movie is concerned, people have their opinions. Does that movie make Prophet Mohammed a terrorists, or whatever it shows him to be? I don't think so. People need to understand that more you will show anger at this kind of movies, more movies will be made just to piss Muslims off.

U really live in history. Please review ur inputs. Maybe this is what they teach in ur history books. Not ur fault kiddo. The fact is that all people in India live in harmony. Indian minorities are much safer than ur country. It not just widows, but divorcees with kids who r getting remarried here. And Hinduism is one of the oldest n most liberal religions. lets not get into religious fights here. Indians live among many religions. Half-baked info can be dangerous.

Education First, she is right, that is the solution, i'm from a country were children in the villages need to walk many miles to assist a school, and because it's a ''faraway school'' their education it's poor. Their work as farmers just as soon as they learn to walk, and many times they are in the need to ''don't waste time'' going to school. This now it's a pain in the soul of my country, where a uneducated man is President, but things are gonna change step by step with education. viva Bolivia

How is this girl evil? Even if her speech was contrived or influenced surely that doent take away the fact that she was shot in the head for promoting education and deserves credit and recognition for highlighting and challenging the backward attitudes of the fundamental hard line elements of her community. I agree with you, USA foreign policy is fucking disgusting but this is a separate issue. Don t cloud this girls pioneering mentality with civilian casualties from drone strikes.

If western propaganda is to highlight this girls story and to show the Taliban in a truthful light then I support it. These shithole countries had been invaded over 10 years ago, this story is a year old. This girl has not and will not affect Western military foreign in these countries. If Malcolm X had been shot and survived today, he would have been invited to speak at this kind of a forum.

Firstly, your ignorance knows no bounds as I'm not even American, thus is the power of your assumption. You should consider this: if you were wrong in such a simple matter like that how many other times have you been wrong? That aside, the Taliban do not attack innocents? I think you need to switch on the news or at least step the fuck outside for a moment. Unless you consider countless civilians, women & children included in vicious Taliban related terrorist attacks threats to Taliban.

The Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) said: "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim". 1st creation: a book. 1st message to the Prophet Mohamed (pbuh): "read". In Islam, it is a must to get education and make the world a better place, whether you are a man or woman. I have seen Muslim women pilots, bus/car drivers, motorcycle riders, big bike riders, nurses, doctors, presidents, ministers, parliament members, general managers, construction workers etc etc. It is not a must to stay at home.
@Tagadagat

How does her message of education, equality, peace, anti-poverty kill children? Why are you anti education, equality, peace, poverty? The Prophet advocated charity, education, even the name of Islam means peace. So why are you arguing that the Prophet's message is propoganda? Are you anti-Islam? Do you hate the Prophet? Are you pro Saytan? That is all I can tell from your evil post.
@Tagadagat
@Tagadagat 11 лет назад
To everyone negatively commenting about this heroines' speech, please realize what you are advocating. You can argue that the US is evil, but when you condemn her speech you are not condemning the West, since her message does not propose the establishment of the West. Instead you are condemning her call or education of every child. You are condemning her call for peace. You are condemning her call for love and surrendering to the will of God.

In some ways I agree with you. But it's not because of the Taliban that the US will most likely fail. The people of Afghanistan that should see this courageous girl and learn from her do not have access to Television or the Internet. All over the middle east there are protests against oppressive regimes because the people have learned, due to the internet how oppressed they are. If the common person of Afghanistan new how oppressed they are under the Taliban the Taliban would not have a chance.

Her weapons were her courage and love of education .She has shown the whole world that bullets will never kill hope , ideas or dreams . You can't know something that can't be known. It could be bad will, or whatever, i meant god as in a believers way, since the Taliban are believers, that's why the problem is so big with religions, because you all feel entitled to think that your god isn't the same god of anyone else even if they use the same book, it's non sense, she should have addressed the UN (ONU here) in a more holistic way rater than a religious way, after all is the secular that are with her, not the religious ones.
@ulinvega
@ulinvega 11 лет назад
Sorry, English isn't my first language, what i intended to say was that she is trying to bring peace by using the very thing that is opposed to that peace, the doctrines of any religion, most religions are opposed to education (original Islam wasn't but yet it is now) and promote segregation, the reason secular nations exist is for variety to exist, when she address the ONU in a religious manner she is excluding people from the group. I am pro education.
@88tonyfox

Bermanthearchitect I agree with you!! I agree with the fact that children and people should be treated equally and have the right to a decent education. It is not God who promotes this, it is fellow man and people controlling their own actions and doing what they believe to be right. Religion groups people and gives them a common interest and therefore allows to see and treat other fellow humans that believe others things differently.
@ulinvega
@ulinvega 11 лет назад
And i congratulate you in convolution a simple comment, like i said, i liked the speech, i just don't agree about anything religious in it, it was totally unnecessary. On accordance on your comment about my brain it can also be applied on you, the very fact that you cannot understand what my comment really said, and instead inserted your own thoughts is proof that you have no superior thinking glands, sir.
@ulinvega
@ulinvega 11 лет назад
I didn't say her comment was out of order, i just said that i don't share her view, does that make me a racist, or a fascist? Grow a pair, you all will not like everything you see in the internet or the world, doesn't make her point any more valid if she invokes the very thing that suppress her and many other people in the world, it's precisely the secular ones that allow her to talk, and science who saved her, and she invokes god, how about that for a freaking thanks to her doctors.
@ulinvega
@ulinvega 11 лет назад
That she promotes the very thing that keeps her in check and suppress her is to one think that gives me discomfort, am not an atheist in the militant way am an atheist in the fact that i don't have an active belief, i have no affiliation. And you have to learn not to take it heart things on the internet because not everyone will agree with you nor me, and most important, i don't care, i just pointed out that i don't share her belief.

How does this speech promote drone strikes? She hardly even mentioned the Taliban. The two things are completely unrelated. Do you not think women should have fewer rights then men? We can disagree about numbers killed in drone strikes, but it certain that women cannot drive cars in Saudi Arabia. Is this not an issue because of drone strikes?
@zeperf88
@zeperf88 11 лет назад
How would this help the US get away with drone strikes? They have nothing to do with one another. Do you think there is no problem of violence against women in the middle east? Do you think women should not drive cars? Saying she is being used is like saying Martin Luther King was being used to distract from Vietnam. The two things have nothing to with each other,

Somewhere within the bible it says something that means that bad things will happen to good people and good things will happen to bad people. but this doesnt mean that bad things will ALWAYS happen to good people, just sometimes

Its nice to exchange a normal comment with someone. Was that a Red Cross or Unicef program? How did you get into that? Sounds interesting. Taliban came to 'power' in 96', is that right? Did you have to leave at this time?

Unfortunately yes. For a 16 year old to deliver such a composed and balanced speech is a testament not only to her intelligence but also to her persistence and tenacity in making a stand against these sub humans.

A brave and inspired speech. She speaks with a confidence and maturity well beyond her years. A shame that only 2 or 3 Pakistani news channels gave the issue any coverage and the ones that did showed edited excerpts.

I love it when I see people who practice religion as it is supposed to be practiced : To make Men and Women strive to improve the life of Men and Women around them and spread peace everywhere. Signed : an atheist.

You stench of the stuff this brave girl will spend her entire life fighting. The taliban have been ousted. The simple fact that this girl is alive and speaking to the UN is proof that the taliban have lost.

laraeb1000...thanks for the history lesson...but what the fuck does all that have to do with Malala's message of peace and harmony and education young people....I recommend that you go through her speech one more time but this time listen to what SHE has to say instead of shouting across it with what YOU have to say wearing your political, bigoted, radical blinkers!
