Didn’t realise this place was 10th largest in the world by floor area. We went there to go to the amusement park but didn’t end up doing it because our kids couldn’t go on most of the rides. Ended going to the movies instead.

I actually noticed that both of you stay at a place and immersed yourself in the food and culture of the country by also a longer stay instead of like a lot of travellers treat it like a tour of duty, ticking boxes of places they have visited instead of learning a bit about the country, people, food and culture. Excellent approach and hope from these experiences, you can when you head home to Atlanta, setup even an Asian street food restaurant to bring Asia to Atlanta. I had a friend sister in Houston who did that and they now run three upmarket restaurants and even able to afford a home in Malaysia which they visit from time to time, keeping their link to Asia as well as try new dishes. All in all, a wonderful lifestyle as well as great wealth accumulation process. Very commendable attitude.

For shopping many tourists just spent time near Bukit Bintang area..too many vlogs covering this area.Please go to these places for shopping in KL areas..may take about 20-40 min by grab from bukit bintang.. you wont regret..they are super huge..:berjaya time square is no longer a main attraction for shopping..: 1. Sunway Pyramid 2. One Utama 3. Mid Valley

You should go to Sunway Pyramid Mall the Egyptian style mall which got big Phyramid and Spinx in Subang Jaya which is 20km away from city centre

As a Malaysian, I say Ecohill Walk Mall Semenyih (albeit the lack of shops), One Utama and The Curve and Subang Parade and The Summit are hundreds if not thousand times better than Berjaya Times Square and The whole Bukit Bintang.

I've no idea the shopping mall is the largest building in the world though I'm a local here. But what I know is the most hotel rooms in the world is Genting Highland Hotel, 45minutes away driving from KL. And one more thing I'd like to highlight about Malaysia is a food paradise.. You name it? Since we are multi racial demographic country with a bunch of fusion cuisines and the best medical tourism.I'd conclude here before I go far😜 Afterall welcome to Malaysia. actually that times square was mix use building with hotel and office.. so the higher u go up, the more privacy u get, because its a hotel area 😄.. and yeahh, One Utama Mall is the largest in this region, 4th in the world

You need to head out of the city to Sunway Mall & Sunway Lagoon.(Water Theme Park) You can take the Putra LRT line to Sunway and take a GRAB for the last couple of miles.

I live in kl but never liked anything mall related ;) i think the last time i went to a mall in kl must be like 2 years ago

Go to Sunway Pyramid. Its an Egyptian Sphinx shaped shopping mall with Egyptian motifs inside and outside. It also has a pretty decent outdoor theme park. Its in Bandar Sunway outside of Kuala Lumpur. You can get a Grab to the place. If you want to get out of the heat of KL, go to KL Sentral train station and get yourself bus tickets to Genting Highlands. Its a theme park/casino up the hill with outdoor and indoor theme parks and a nice cable car ride up the hill. Quite cooling as temperatures can drop to 14 Celcius. Lots of shops and decent food, though a bit pricey compared to the shops downhill. If you want to try English style Tudor houses, tea plantations and strawberry fields, get a train/bus from KL Sentral to Cameron Highlands. Its a highland area developed by the Brits way back and still retains the old British vibes.

Mandy, if you go to the smaller town it is actually cheaper especially if you are going to Malacca and Penang. KL because it is the administrative capital it once was command a slight premium. But what you were looking at is a sale and probably will not be cheaper in both those places. The empty shops are because they are too out of the way, resulting in no foot traffic like you surmised, and hence closed. Don't you think the food is slightly cheaper. Malaysia has become like a playground for Singaporeans when they have school holidays for them to come in to shop due to the exchange rate and cheaper prices. Singapore is rated by the Economic Intelligence Unit as the second most expensive city after Hong Kong.

As a East Malaysian, Mydin is the choice for me to buy stuffs when I'm in KL. For chocolate lovers, Mydin is the place for the wide selection of chocolates and the prices are unbeatable. They also sell souvenirs like replicas of Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower, keychains etc that are so much cheaper than most other shops.

Berjaya times square is really the place if you wanna buy cheap and affordable things. The quality might not be the best, but for that kind of price, its good enough. I'll go there to shop casual things. I'm okay with no brand items as I'll obviously buy new clothes every few months. If you are looking for branded items or things with better quality, berjaya times square is not the place. 😊

Berjaya Times Square is popularly known as The Suicide Mall of Malaysia. That's why they installed the safety net at the mall. You can google *Suicide Mall at Berjaya Times Square*

And if you're feeling good enough to jump into your trunks or bikini, you can go visit Sunway Lagoon (beside Sunway Pyramid) for a swim or to bask out in the sun.

not alot of locals go to berjaya time square anymore cuz its boring, theres alot of more impressive malls just outside KL, for example sunway piramid mall, with a egyption theme + huge lion sphinx at the entrance + really huge water theme park, even an indoor ice skating and a cinema, and thats just one of malls theres more and each malls have atleast 1 or two big/medium attractions in it. u guys need to check it out next time and genting highland mall they have massive indoor led screen covers the wall indoors + casino + indoor themepark etc. really u guysmissing alot by not exploring outside kl.
