thanks Michael. The 5hours long trip to Melaka from Singapore had always made me anticipate my long awaited stop at Air Hitam. But alas the 20minutes stop did not satisfy my craving to spend longer time being there. Thus the return trip from Melaka to Singapore always quickly go to my favourite food shop. But alas, now with highway, most of us would not stop anymore here

I miss the burger in 1994 only sell rm1.5, I remembered the burger was tasty with only one slice cucumber, tomato and onion. Crazy time

Air Hitam is a favourite RnR stop by most of the express bus company from Johor to Melaka mostly back then before PLUS expressway is build...

November 2019 now... just found this lol. Thanks for sharing. Nothing like the 80''s. How different things were then. Weird when I think back but it had its charm. Mindsets, mentality, perception was different then. I think we were more open minded at the time.

Thank you for this "time preserving" video. Is precious. Our famous burger stall still continues to date. It has tagged as the best burger in the world. And Tan Kim Hock has expanded their business into Melaka, already a packaged local delicacies shopping place for tourists to buy and bring home. Our buses have air condition now. Lion dance has evolved, even the lions are prettier now. Fancy cars are common now. Is just our road... many places still remain narrow not enough for increment of fancy cars to use. 😄

Zaman ni semua murah..air teh sarbat baru 20sen je.. kueh 10sen beso2.. naik bas dari muar ke semerah 30sen. Pergi sekolah bawak 30 sen je..dapat beli mee/nasi goreng 20sen air 10sen..

During year 1987, Malaysia didn't have highway across the peninsular island, all cities from south to north are linked by the rural roads. All visitors from south cities like Johor and Singapore have to pass along Ayer Hitam town and rest there for an hour for buses to refill petrol and passengers can have some food before the long trip time to north cities like Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh.

This is the only footage available online of my hometown Air Hitam in the 80s. It would amazing if they went to Batu Pahat from Air Hitam and recorded it because i live in that roads between Air Hitam and Batu Pahat.
