I'm an American living in Malaysia almost 8 years now. Beautiful country and beautiful people.

Malaysia is not a perfect country, but I'm glad I'm born here. Having grow up in multicultural community taught me to appreciate other religion & culture. I remember my Chinese/ indian friends being thoughtful toward me during ramadhan season. They refused to eat in front of me because I was fasting. They even fasted with me just to experience what fasting in ramadhan felt like. I was thankful to have them as my friends. They taught me to treat people of other religion/culture with kindness as well. Of course it's not like we get along all the time, but we respect each other.

I’m a Malaysian ethnic Chinese proud to be a Malaysian. Many Muslim friends and Muslim is about teaching of peace and harmony. Respecting each others. No problem here as local, as any religion, as expat/foreigners

I've lived in Malaysia (from the UK) for 17 years. Over the last 2 weeks have been showing my now grown-up daughter around the country, inc Borneo. Can honestly say I felt proud to show her my home, the people etc. And yes, that was a great response!

I am from Penang and there is a place called Seberang Jaya . If you come here you can see all the temples of various religions are built near to each other, such as Indian temples, Siamese temples, the mosque and the Chinese temples and really sounds like an international religious community. Malaysians are just living in harmony .

Hi, I just watched your RU-vid when you were at Longest Market in Malaysia. What I find it is that, when you said 'Terima Kasih' at some point you have shorten it to 'Kasih'. Malaysian don't shorten word 'Terima Kasih' like how English people say 'thanks'. Hope that make sense.

Hello there i'm from Pontianak City, West Borneo, Some things i understand is that, No Religions teach hatred toward other religions and poeple's and it does teaches tolerances altough not in Western way version, Malaysia current PM Anwar Ibrahim, yes his response it is very humane and rational way as a response, toward anti Islam hatred, by printed 1 Million Al Quran, Malaysia as well as any other nations have own way in Diversity and Tolerance, for some reason despite Malaysia is get targeted by Some Indonesians, it still Stand and i really Love my neighbour nation, anyway despite i'm not Islam, i see that Islam is a religion of Peace and the proff is no matter what nationality you are, what Race you are, it's bring you and others into same hope and make realized way of how the world works, and make you remember the greatness that is God, and i'm sure that some Douche bag, such as that Paul guy that burned the holy book, and Jhoni Hantarto the Shameful Indonesian guy, is a blinded persons that hate Islam, and Malaysia respectively, but don't worry no matter how strong the wind blows, the mountain cannot bowed, or no matter how Islam is hated or Malaysia is mocked up, they can stand strong and peacefully.

For example see how our Football Chanting group the Ultras Malaya reacted when our National Football team Harimau Malaya lost to Thailand in d semi final of d AFF Cup quite recently ... Instead of booing and jeering d Thai national football team, our Ultras Malaya cheered and sang Sawadikap, Sawadikap, Yeah, Yeah Thailand and congratulated d Thai players on their win until it got noticed by FIFA and FIFA classified Ultras Malaya as d Number 1 best Football supporters in d World .... So yeah you are spot on when you said d diversity in our country has in a way moulded us as such ... And that's d beauty of d general right thinking mindset of Malaysians ... Of course we do have some extremists - politicians and some NGO and some individuals too here who are somehow racists and extreme in their views but d Unity Government headed by PM Anwar which is a government made up of d various races of Malaysians in this country who are not only from d Peninsular Malaysia but also from Sabah & Sarawak, East Malaysia outnumbered d extremists and their narrow and parochial views and made them looked almost obsolete, outcast and irrelevant in such a multi - cultured, multi - religious, multi - lingual, multi - racial & multi - ethnic Malaysia ....

Yes, you are right, we have many friends who are multi-ethnic, we respect each other, that is the essence of our unity.

From my own perspective, it is kind of "strange" how western people are so influence by their politics and politicians that they would treat people different from them in a very disrespectful way. At the very least, growing up in Malaysia, with Malaysian education, we, the ordinary people would never be swayed by our politicians to fight each other like this, we're different but everyone is family including foreigners. You come with respect and kindness, we give respect and kindness. ❤️ For most People. And brother, as you can see how Malaysian co exist with people, it is quite traumatic experience if we go to other country and suddenly get hate crime done to us. 😅 Hopefully not but the risk of that is scary.

Well said, Malaysia is a special kind of country, and that's mainly due to the manners of its people. When I was a kid, I had some Malaysian international students who joined my school, and I found them to be very kind and good natured.. and it left me with a deep appreciation for their religion and culture.

our current prime minister went through a horrible period being slandered, damned and locked up by sinister minister(s). but he never let any of his miseries or the miserable minister(s) to undo his good intentions for the people. infact, he has forgiven the monster(s) who orchestrated and participated to bring him down. he chose to move on. this is the way islam is explained in the quran and taught by our beloved messenger muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), jesus, moses, and all the other prophets (peace be upon them) who came before him. as a good muslim, the prime minister acted accordingly in response to the futile attempt of that poor soul in sweden. may God have mercy on him. 🙏🏼

Take a walk along Jalan Tokong or harmony street adjacent to Jonker Street in Melaka. You will find a still functioning Hindu Temple, Muslim Mosque and Chinese Temple built during the late 1600s. Just a short walk away is the one of the oldest Catholic and Protestant church in the region, St Francis Church and Christ Church. My prayer is that our beloved nation continues to be blessed with tolerance and unity.

This is how this country was built. This is how we are raised. Multicolors, multiraces, multilinguals. We are not perfect, we are still internally struggling with racism between us, but at the end of the day.. we are still able to find ways to tolerate for a peaceful life. Religions, races and cultures should be celebrated not be taken to create division, tension or war.

This remind of an incident where our football fans and players were thrown with water bottle,stones etc when we play with Indonesia in Jakarta.Come the 2nd leg which was held in Malaysia,Malaysian decided not to reciprocate or act violently as they did to us,we even decided to throw roses and serve the syrup drinks.That was a perfect show of civilization and progressive mindset .

The thing about Malaysia is if anyone messes with our traditional food they will face our unity wrath, previously master chef australia who asked for crispy chicken on a rendang sparks fire from the Malaysian he got bombarded in social media even though the themed was traditional food he asked for a crispy chicken, its like asking beef wellington to be cooked with rice flour or a spaghetti bolognese be cooked with rice vermicelli that's how bad the request from the judge critics, never mess with Malaysian and their food.

We still HV pockets of intolerant and unsavoury people in Malaysia but we are working to reduce that to the minimum...we welcome all well meaning visitors to Malaysia

It is such a pleasure to see foreigners acknowledging how tolerant we are. The Muslims in Malaysia in general very tolerant to the point that we always forgive & very lenient towards the non-Muslims that attacks Islam. In contrast, when Muslims made a mistake, a much more strict action is taken against them. Even though Malaysia is a Muslim majority country. From my personal experience, the British people I've met are very nice & pleasant people. I've meet an older person that is very very gentle & friendly when I was younger. I even had a very close friend.
