Hey Sonny, I'm a Malaysian and I just wanted to let you know that the 'noodles' you ate at 22:22 aren't actually noodles! It's a dish called roti jala, it's basically something similar to a pancake batter which is piped into a pan in a certain way that creates the lace or 'noodle' effect. My mum would make it for me as a kid and I would eat it with curry or sometimes condensed milk!
Malaysian here as well. roti jala literally means "net bread". jala is net and roti is self explanatory. its not something you commonly find everywhere but its definitely one of my favourites and i love it with chicken curry.
Yeah they really need to think of it as rm1=1usd in term of value locally .. you can get a decent burger for 5usd in america same with malaysia rm5 for a decent burger.. rm 5 is around 1usd+ so it's not really a same comparison when they think of is a literal conversion rate.
@@ThePhiloSpheres Where are you finding good $5 burgers? I'm in middle Tennessee, one of the cheapest places in the country, yet you're lookin at a cool $10.99-14.99 for a "good" burger.
@@JTP1999 Don't mind them, most Malaysians don't understand that other countries are dealing with inflation, even worse than in Malaysia. Most people that I know are complaining about the government not tackling the inflation problem well but they don't realize that other countries like Thailand, Singapore and Brunei are having very bad inflation to the point that they have to shop in countries with weaker currency.
I just gotta say something... Alright, so I'm 26 and I live down here in TX. I grew up watching Anthony Bourdain, & had the opportunity to meet him when he came down to Burns BBQ here in Houston. I must say you remind me so much of him.... I was raised by a grandma who I'd love to help cook all the time which got me into cooking & cooking shows at an early age. There's literally only 3 other RU-vidrs & 1 chef I watch not including you, but you bring the world to people like me who will probably never be able to travel and experience what you do. You do such a great job at showing the world not only different foods but culture, places, ect. in a fun way. I've been watching your videos for a long time, and have had this on my mind while watching every video so I just had to let you know. Please keep up the great work you're doing.
@@naveensmith5914 Have you been here in south east Asia? No! The taste of the food is not the same. Put Singapore away because they keep stealing our recipes 😂
Great comment! I pineapple watermelon carpet goldfish. Asian cuisine is absolutely Kia Sorento hamburger cleft lip. This is the best come nt since daddy duck incest clown makeup. High 3… diabetes.
Hello Sonny. This Scotsman served in the British Army in Malaya during the Malay Emergency, which later morphed into the Indonesian Confrontation of Malaysia in the 1960s. I served in Malaya for 2 years and in that time; I became "HOOKED" on Char Kway Teow. I ate it at every opportunity and today I love in Australia where my wife and I visit a Malaysian Restaurant in Melbourne, Victoria Australia to have our weekly "hit" of CHAR KWAY TEOW. We pay *AUD$16.50* fore a plate of that delicious meal which translates to 51.49 Malaysian Ringits, and in Malaysia, you paid (I presume USD 1.50) that translates to 7.17 Malaysian Ringits. To be honest with you, Malaysian food is not my favourite HOWEVER, I could eat Char Kway Teow every day and never get sick of it. Cheers mate!
@@4n4Queen Hello. I disagree! First and foremost, Chinese restaurants here in Australia have no idea who to cook Char Kway Teow. They use a lot of crap for ingredients. I have seen some put carrot, chinese cabbage et al into the dish which tastes like shite. We go to proper Malaysian Restaurants here, and I tell the chef exactly what I want in it, as per the ingredients used by Chef in Malaysia, and yes, I do agree with you that when made exactly as they do in Malaya, *NOTHING CAN COMPARE!* CHEERS1
I love Malaysian food. Wish there are more Malaysian restaurants in my country. I would love to make a review blog about them! Most here doesn't feel much authentic.
I am not an easy guy but after watching your food’s videos and other food’s videos, I am admitted that you are successful and your videos are top rated: funny, well narrative, colorful, good foods, weird foods(sometimes), international and every video is a lesson to learn for the next culinary experiences. Thanks and congratulations for the job well done and see you in the next food’s video 😊
The oysters at the start have 100% gone bad too because she had them out the shell sitting in some water container xD Oysters die the minute they are out the shell and go bad so quickly
Howdy Sonny! Found your channel recently, i'm now addicted. Have been binge watching your back catalogue. Keep up the great work. Cheers from Australia!
Honestly this is like the 4th video of his I've seen where he does this. Takes old footage and puts it up in one long video and pretends like it's new.
If you are reading this there’s a reason……No matter how good or bad you have it,wake up each day thankful for your life.Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs ❤️🇧🇸
Yes and that reason is that you simply wrote a comment. I always read through the comments, so reading this one was as inevitable as reading all the other ones. Lol #notprophetic
That is "roti jala" which can be translate (direct) as "net bun". it is not noodle but made from flour. the process is simple and use a tool to make it such net like form. you can eat with any type of curry and also with durian gravy (serawa durian/kuah durian).
That green citrus is CALAMANSI. It’s not a kumquat. I wouldn’t be as upset as I am if it wasn’t for the fact that calamansi are amazing! We bring them loads of them back from Singapore we love them so much ❤
Wait, what? Malaysia made you eat cucumber and you actually loved it?! You literally hit every next bite with a bit of cucumber on it, congrats 😂 great episode! great team you're working with!!!
love how they don't have pork in the food section of the hotel because muslim majority but they have alcohol in the bedroom. Malaysian 🤝 Indonesian Halal in the streets, Haram in the sheets
Hello thankyou for coming to MALAYSIAAA! Ive been watching your videos for an almost 2 years, now again you came back in Kuala Lumpur. Salam Sejahtera! ☺❤
So did we just toss the eastern shore board seafood travel adventure? I’ve lived in every state all the way down to FL so I was so looking forward to that series. Love y’all….. I Trust the Process
I have diarrhea and it’s liquidy so these videos are perfect to keep me entertained while my stomach bubbles. I don’t have to rewind when I come back from the bathroom.
Ok.. so 🤢... What did you just make us watch? That weirdo just dipped a flipping fish in dirty dish water. Someone help me here.. what am I effing watching ? 2:34 ok, that's enough internet for today. 23:59 is all i have to say... Aaand Scene 🎥🎬 41:44 so what do you do if youre left handed? 💥
Just half way through this video, I'll get back to it but... I had to stop and get myself over the laughing about your jokes and humor and the side splitting photo flashes!!!!! This is perfect!!!!
The first 5 minutes he's talking about the guy that doesn't toss around the noodle too hard during cooking. He makes a comparison to a soldier being deployed and not seeing his girl for months. We are literally watching this deployed!!! Yay!!
I dig up my peppers, tomatoes, herbs, lettuces, onions everything I have room to winterize.Thank You Misty & Colby Green time is my favorite season .Keep on keeping on ❤ We are in times of self sustaining knowledge & sharing our knowledge with each other
We went to Malaysia for our honeymoon and had wonderful time there. Malaysia is the most underrated country to travel, good food, beautiful beaches and nice people. They are suffering a lot from 2014…
Hi Sonny, Malaysian here. At 56:15 I think there's a bit of a mistranslation here. It's not "Ketchup Chicken", it's Ayam Masak Kicap, which literally translates to chicken cooked in soy sauce. 😂 coincidentally "Ketchup" sounds a lot like "Kicap"
