many malaysian like maggie because it reminded them when young. mamee last time not as good as maggie. now they improve but maggie still retain the classic taste with loyal fan. i remember old time, people go holiday oversea bring their maggie to eat. maggie is memories for all malaysian. mamee like other korean instant mee. delicious but no memories of old days.
The mamee chef range is totally a next level compared to the traditional "quick fix comfort" like Maggi Kari Malaysia. If I feel like a fancy dinner, I'd go for Mamee chef; but if I just need some quick stomach comfort midnight snack, then Maggi Kari is still my choice (smaller portion). Maggi Kari Malaysia is like reminiscing childhood. haha. 😅
To add: If you crave something different, go with Mamee Chef. They have garniture, dried shrimp, milk powder, among other stuff. Which is luxurious compare to Maggi. BUT. With Maggi, you cannot go wrong to transform it into something else, Maggi tumis, Maggi Rebus, Maggi Sup, Maggi Celup, Murtabak Maggi, Maggi Goreng, you name it.
Actually there are many types of instant noodles in Malaysia which is also popular, but Maggi Kari will always have a special place in Malaysian people's hearts. It is the most classic and original instant noodle in the country. You can find Maggi Kari in almost every single household.
lol i boil Maggie soup using the left over poweder eat with rice , sometimes after eat 2 pack of Maggie but only use one pack of powder the remain keep for making soup 😁😁😁😁
The Mamee Chef range is much tastier and more enjoyable when compared their normal instant noodles range (which is in my opinion, just too normal, with exception of the Vegetarian and Duck flavour). The regular Maggi is great, but Mamee Chef (not the regular Mamee noodles) is better. Mi Sedaap (their dry range, Curry laksa range and also Korean Spicy Soup) is also preferred by me (despite being an Indonesian product). Also liked is the Vits Italian Instant Noodles range.
Yes true Maggi is not originally from Malaysia it just Malaysia was highly demanding on Maggi when it first launch. While Mamee as people say it was truly from Malaysia 'ghost paper' my fav mamee 🤤🤤🤤
At home i had meggi curry and mamee laksa as comfort food.. For me the different is meggi curry is like an empty canvas.. You can cooked it in many different ways.. Can cooked it dry or you can mixed it with lots of other stuff. Mamee curry laksa is already good by itself. But u cannot change it to much or will loose its savoryness.. Both are good..
Mamee chef blue packet (lontong) is my favourite…the broth taste like the real curry mee from restaurant . If u add egg vege or chicken/prawn in it it taste better than most curry mee from restaurant lol
Would like to suggest MyKuali Penang White Curry Mee next, since it was rated Number 1 ramen instant noodle in the world by the Ramenrater and a few ramen sites
From now onwards, I will try Mamee. Always consider it second to Maggi, but you have shown me that there's more for my taste buds to discover beyond Maggi 😁. Thank you, Jimmy and IChang, for the new experience.
I had the same first experience too with Mamee Chef. It was so good the first few times, but after awhile the taste starts to get boring. I end up going back to Maggi Kari 😅
I grew up in a family that making and selling laksa so I always get any chance I had to try any variety of laksa across Malaysia. Even my mom had this swet laksa gandum recipe that I considered rare and I never find it elsewhere in the universe. Mamee Laksa Kari is my current favorite that I try to serve it just like a normal laksa with my own extra condiment, sambal, lime juice, green leaves type ulam, a full boiled egg. The thickness in its broth sold me.
I've always love maggi. No matter what instant noodles comes next, maggi will always be my choice whenever i bought an instant noodles. Another fav of mine would be pama bihun sup, i think? These 2 are my go to.
Mi sedap!!!!! It’s the dry one. Not sure if you guys tried it! Omg you guys have to try that hahaha. Also the.. mamee chef chicken flavour~ there is a chili padi kick to it!
Once you open this door to instant noodle comparison, there is no return... 1)For similar price range check out Cintan instant noodle. 2)For full taste/texture check out LeeFah instant noodle. btw Maggi is still king instant noodle because of its international accepted taste and cost.
For curry noodles, i think the best best one is definitely MyKuali Penang White Curry! Please DM if iChang and Jimmy would like to try more noodles, I won't mind sending noodles over from mail! :D
No need to send, it is available in HK. It is shown in one of their videos while they were shopping. I even commented and recommended MyKuali to iChang but it did not interest them yet. MyKuali is from Malaysia, another brand to consider is Red Chef, made in Malaysia too.
Both the noodles serve the different purpose for me...maggi Kari is what you need when you want to feel like home and the other improvise flavour give you something to change your basic flavour. Pls try Kari Putih instant noodle. It was once ranked 1st in the world
Whenever I want to customise my instant noodle, I would use Maggie brand coz it is very basic and it would become fancier if I add more seasonings like onions, sauces and vegetables. For Mamee it is good as It is. So I don't normally use Mamee to make fancy instant noodle :D
I had dump Maggi since secondary school (like a sad taste for me), now for me beside the Korea Sam-Yang brand, i think Cintan & Mamee will be a secondary choice for me, oh ya, you can also try the Penang White Curry Instant noodle(other brand), it will be as good as Mamee Kari Laksa. PS: gonna grab some Mamee to try!
Thanks for the video! The best instant noodle to me is mykuali white curry, super good and always sold out, their prawn noodle also amazing! You both must try!😋
Both are good in their own ways and style .. no denying 100% at Malaysian grewup with Maggie instant noodle .. but times change and we have more choice to make ..
recommend: Ibumie Penang Har Mee (taste similar to Penang Prawn noodle soup) A1 Bak Kut Teh Noodle (Chinese herb base soup noodle, suitable for cold weather)
Thanks for this wonderful video. There r many good brands for instant noodles in Malaysia. Maggi is definitely one of them. Please try d Maggi spicy prawn, delicious.
Mamee Curry Laksa is my second favorite. The most favorite one is Ibumie Penang White CurryMee. You two should try it if you have the chance. I'm telling you, it's on a different kind of level.
Being a broke Malaysian at the end of the every month calls for the best comfort cheap food, Maggi. And to be honest I call all types of instant noodles as Maggi lol nevermind the brand. Its the first slrrrpp after cooking that matters most 🤤
I certainly liked mamee chef series and I can still remember during their early days they went on sale, they completely changed my preference - from maggi fan boy to mamee- as they taste so much better. But after sometimes, I started to have cravings of the old maggie and mamee couldn’t satisfy me with the cravings. Maggie is like a mother’s cooking where even though you have tasted 5 stars hotel food, when you craves for your mom’s food, the 5 star food suddenly feels bland and empty. And even until now, my kitchen will always have stock for maggie cause they feels so much at home and will only buy mamee when sometimes I feel like having them. So yeah, you can never beat Maggie no matter how 😂
Well I like both brand, so I just "kahwinkan" both noodles such as Maggie Asam Laksa with Mamee Chef Tom Yum. Kahwin mean you mix both to get a new taste of flavour. Its so good to experimenting mixing flavours for instant noodle.
OMG! What a shame!! 🙈I just learned about the existence of this Mamee Chef range of noodles from you!! Hunting them down on my next grocery trip. So, currently my personal ranking: 1. Maggi Kari, Ayam & Asam Laksa 2. Lee Fah Sarawak Laksa 3. Mamee Perisa Itik (Duck) 4. Mi Sedaap Perisa Asli As for MyKuali Penang White Curry, it was once selling like hot cakes. A little pricey and overrated for me! Just my 2 cents. Don't shoot me! 😬
After this try the MyKuali Penang White Curry, voted as the Top 3 Ramen in the world. This you NEED to try!! As for mamee I love the tomyam flavor but now maggie got the tomyam kaw which dethrones the mamee tomyam (for me, at least). The new tomyam uses soup paste instead of powder. I'd use this maggie for steamboat hack, just get this and other stuff like veggies and fishcakes, etc and you are set for a good delicious steamboat meal
@@nishi3154 the new Maggie Tom Yam Kaw is, like the name suggest kaw punya sedap!! It is THE ramen to get for Tom Yam flavor. Honestly I don't think I'll be buying the original Maggie TomYam anymore 😂
Used to buy maggi till highschool. And of course once I became university student, I have to explore lots of instant noodles to save money. But yeah. Mamee kari laksa and mykuali Penang white curry is one of the best. And if you want to search for best tomyam kaw kaw instant noodle, I would suggest Ruski.
Hello iChang and Jimmy, both brand looks good,I am waiting to try Mamie, it's not here yet in New Zealand 🇳🇿.all the best for you both,I loved watching your videos, keep safe, look forward for your next video 🖐️🙏
If you can get your hands on it, try Lee Fah instant noodles. Lee Fah is local to Sarawak. I love the Sarawak White Curry flavour. The rice vermicelli Sarawak laksa is also pretty authentic in flavour.
Maggi curry is good when eaten as light meal during rain n cold days bcoz it soupy and taste light, really comforting..mamee is quite heavy bcoz of the coconut cream so i used to eat it when im really hungry during lunch or dinner.
We have many many more flavours available ..... when you come to Malaysia next time you can try out all the different new flavours. Different brands and flavours cater to our different likings at different times. Sometimes we just want a quick and simple, yet yummy and classic instant noodle, we go for Maggi Kari. At times when we feel like having a different taste, then we switch to the more luxurious noodles like the Chef range varieties. No right or wrong but we Malaysians love to have choices :)
Mamee is real local own Malaysian company, so the research team maybe can be more alert to local taste. Maggi is not from Malaysia, but Malaysian Maggi team really did a great work rather than other countries
Mamee also got their basic instant noodle. The one you tried is Mamee chef which is a bit more upgraded version of their instant noodle. Of course mamee noodles are much more springy and chewy than Maggi So if you want to cook maggi, don't over cook the noodle, scoop noodles out al dente before you continue to add more ingredients in the broth and pour the broth later when finish cooking the rest of ingredients like egg or some kind of vege or protein. I usually cook my egg / protein/ vege in the broth before at the end adding noodles and cook maggi at a very minimal time ( if cooked on stove) to avoid it becoming too soft or soggy. Best served immediately
I love all instant noodles from Mamee!!! Good stuff, from lontong, curry, curry laksa, tomyum and even their vegetarian one is so goooood!! (very peppery if u like peppery soup) :D
We stock up Mamee Chef Kari, Tomyam and Lontong flavors st home plus Korean Nongshim ramen plus Cintan Laksa Asam plus Maggi Kari. Maggi Kari and Cintan Laksa are best eaten when you want something basic and plain flavor and hot on a rainy day. Mamee Chef / Nongshim ramen is best when you're really hungry.
Watching them eating together is the one that makes the food looks more delicious because they did taste each of them...and swipe🤣🤣🤣 In the end, they choose only one they love with the taste. For me both look delicious. But, that modern style instant noodles is also the best coz i did taste it. Thank u for the video.👍👍👍👍👍
You should try mammee lontong. Its an authentic taste of malaysia lontong. And also one from mykuali brand, penang hokkien prawn noodle. Its delicious!!
Ichang first reaction "ookii" but really it is just the seasoning pack that make it big haha. My fav is the green one shiitake flavour. But im the only one who like it in my family. Each one of us prefer different flavor of mamee so there are times we bought different pack for other family member
The best instant noodle in Malaysia is neither maggi or mamee. It's MyKuali Penang White Curry noodle. It's so good, the broth is like you bought it from the street.
My favourite instant noodle is always Mi Sedaap. I can get 1 packet of this noodle for just 1 ringgit in grocery stores. I think it's suitable for Japanese taste bud because it's not spicy at all.
Hope you can get normal Mamee instant noodle to try. As Mamee Chef is more premium range instant noodle to complete with Korean range of instant noodles.
I recommend you to boiled it then Wash it with cold water first because there are a bit food preservative mix with the raw noodle... Then you can boiled the soup separately...you can see the colour of the soup is more beautiful and a bit safer
i tried this mamee kari laksa about a month ago and suprise how good it is became my favourite, can someone tell if the packet one taste same as in a cup? bcause i like maggi in a cup only, somehow maggi packet doesn't taste good to me.
I just had mamee kari laksa for dinner, they have many flavours more elevated taste, both are ok, sometimes we crave the simple maggi so depends on what you feel like eating ...makan la’ be happy!
