Ring-necked Ducks are diving ducks that are typically found in shallow wetlands and smaller lakes and ponds throughout North America. White markings on the bill, along with the black back of the male help separate them from the similar Greater and Lesser Scaup.

I love Ring necked ducks. They are such a handsome type of waterfowl. They are usually found with redheads during migration or lesser scaups or just themselves.

There is more then one way to separate Ring necked ducks from Scaups, for instance, Ring necked ducks have a different shaped bill that includes a dark gray color.

It’s crazy how last season, I killed a bunch of ring necks and no hens. I wasn’t even targeting drakes too
