I mean i think they are acctually 17 but yandere dev said that "all characters are 18 even if specifided otherwise" so i think he just said that to avoid problems. ( no hate to you or yandere dev btw)

Update: If you go to the Yandere website, and go to the characters, two characters appear: 1 Yandere-Kun:He's Ayano but a boy, because Taro isn't Yandere in any part of the game (except with mods) 2 Taeko:Is Taro but girl, Ayano is not Senpai from Male Rivals(talvez só com mod)

For me, it's the teacher and the student cuz the student can literally pass anything if they were to date a teacher but other than that, to the world of adults (adult only in general) age is just a number
Because the student can take advantage of their situation while the teacher can't, like even if it's the students fault, some people would still think it's the teacher's fault and why the student did horrible things
