there were 100+ such tv programmes during my time i am from 1991 and till 2001 we had only one channel and a black and white channel..we loved it..simple nd real..if u wwant more such i can give some more..u can try byomkesh bakshi,timba rucha too
I am a Kashmiri and I was born in 1997. I used to watch Malgudi Days as a kid on our black and white television on Sunday's. However, I wasn't able to understand fully. Now, I'm going throw every episode. Thank you, Ultra! Love Malgudi Days! 😍

R.K. Narayan did a great job with this book. I think I should win the Guinness World Record for reading "Swami & Friends" like a 1000 times. Definitely, old India was the best. I wasn't born in those days, but watching this, makes me feel so nostalgic. I feel like I've missed something so great in life.
Now a days web series are emerging, but Shankar nag was way ahead of his times, he made his version of TV series in 1987, I miss my childhood days man ☹️☹️☹️
so sad .. the current generation can't enjoying such enjoyment.. we are the lucky childrens ( not now :) ) who enjoyed which played on this story .. so nostalgic..
Lucky that recently I visited that epic place where malgudi days was shot! still that water fountain is there, every minute enjoying the goosebumps, went to post office where that board shown in episode Missing mail still there! being myself postal employee it was jus awesome feeling to touch those equipments which was the part of that great history made by Malgudi days!!

The stroy of swami and friends was really close to my heart.. hat's of to R K Narayan sir for writing this story and Shankar Nagar sir for making this as telesiries..one who understands the magic of innocence in this story definitely this will did something for them
i am the guy of this new generation but after watching this episode all i can say " Old India Was A Golden India" ! HardWorking heroes plus no laziness is all what early Indians use to be in Cinemas !! Nowadays we see most of the bollywood serials nd movies copying Hollywood dramas nd movies scripting where is the Indian talent here ? Look at start music of Malgudi Days . Its unique , its adorable means i don't have words to define this music nd quality of this whole show !!! Sadly the director of this cool show " Shankar Nag " has passed away(found on internet) May god give him the greatest of greatest peace nd blessings because he made 2.1 million + people to get peace in their mind☺💐

Baap re The class room scene is so controversial. In todays age it would cause protests and law suits. Guess people were more tolerant then. Revives memories.
the restoration isn't the best as we can see the small scratches and lines as well.it would have been better but when it comes to restoring old movies ultra isn't the best in the business.
Those were the days when we use to sit with the whole family and watch the serials and movies... then we use to discuss the same episode for days and days till we could watch another episode... we use to literally wait when the series would begin... how nostalgic!!! Those were the Fun days !!
This is so pure and beautiful. Its freshness cleanses your mind for those 22 minutes. Everything about it, starting from the title and background music to Swami's unadulterated innocence and the simplicity in presentation of the stories, is exceptional. I wasn't even born when it was created, and I have never watched any rerun either. So glad I thought of checking it out. Thanks you Ultra Hindi.

One of the best serials ever that was made in India. Pure joy even from the entertainment aspect apart from a social message. It really jogged my memory to my childhood days... those were innocent times with quality stuff on TV. What a shame that the industry cannot make any good and simple serial or story. It's sad we are deteriorating.
This series is one of the best tv series of all time in terms of sheer quality and content. I would rate it amongst top tv series in the world and I am not exaggerating by doing so.

I miss my village and my grandmother, and I used to run around the house like this. It is a small village in kerala and didn't have electricity till the year 2003, and we are Brahmins and hence I can relate a lot to the culture and mannerisms depicted in this serial. On the other hand, most of it would be considered controversial today for caste and religious descriptions.
