Malayalam cinema cannot churn out such brilliant movies, one after another, come on, no dancing around trees; or taking of shirt scenes or even an item song. It makes realize that, good story telling still exists in India, bollywood may have forgotten about it; but there are still people who know their art. You guys were hiding this treasure of an actor, Fahaad Faasil and thanks to OTT boom, we are now able to witness his amazing art

First 12 minutes of this film just perfectly sets the tone. It is dark and Mahesh Narayanan makes you feel that eerieness at every single minute.

The best part about Malayalam cinema is while an actor is doing a 2 min role in a movie ,he/she could be leading in the next and then continue to do a regular cameo in another .

What I like most about this industry is that they keep everything raw and don’t add too much glamour and bright colours! And this keeps you engaged with the film as you can relate with characters and environments easily !

Happy and sad at the same moment. so much happy that fafa delivered one more good movie continuesly and also sad to miss one more great movie at theatres.

Good thing about movies like Malik is that they provide a bit of swag of the hero making it a mass movie but also concentrate hugely on other aspects like screenplay and story. It's not a typical masala induced mass movie but an amalgamation of various aspects of filmmaking while showing the swag of the protagonist.

Malayalam = Constant and consistent content.

Fahaad Faasil seems on course to attain the iconic and legendary status of the likes of Mohanlal.

Fahaad Faasil is gonna leave behind a huge fossil of acting expertise for generations to follow and learn from.

I can truly say Malik is Kerela's version of nayagan and godfather! Damn wat a movie truly a masterpiece!

The fictional place Ramadapally and the incidents that took place is loosely based on Beemapally in trivandrum.The police firing happened in Beemapally in 2009.

This man Fahadh is so hardworking that he has even surpassed talented actors like Pankaj Tripathi,Nawazuddin Siddiqui,Vijay Sethupati and other talented actors in terms of sheer talent.

kammatipadam is a masterpiece which takes it time to set the pace. malik was not dragging anywhere.

Its not just a film to preach with eyes...but with your heart and brain conveying strongly that "all communal riots are state sponsored" The last scene actually makes perfect sense to me..when the boy threw the rock,it was only Rosellyn who understood that the Boy did it for Alikka.The fear we could see in dileesh pothan's character reveals his realization of boy knowing the dark secrets and deeds he has done to the people of ramadanpalli.Nimisha smiles knowing confidently that Alikka's soul still lives there in the form of the Boy..The boy's Stone throw act becomes an epitome of beginning of a new revolution thats going to happen in Ramadapally I mean what a movie. MAHESH narayanan is an absolute genius

What you said about the Ice Breaking moment - I can understand how it might seem a bit unreliable to you. But that's exactly how it happens here in Kerala. Civil servants in Kerala do make friends with the locals like this. I have lived in 5 states and have never witnessed people sharing camaraderie with IAS officers in any other place like they do in Kerala. Maybe it's the population density and you need locals' cooperation to move so much as a stone from a place. Or maybe it's just the Kerala culture.

Malayalam audience will supports talents no matter who acts in movie even it's a star or a new comer So 🙌🏻

The craft in Malayalam cinema, fondly called mollywood inspires me as a viewer to think, question, feel many aspects of the society and the world today. Irrespective of whether the movie is showcasing a positive or a negative or sad or happy story, often I bring a huge chunk of the emotion into my life and the emotion stays with me for days if not months. I have observed that over years I have changed as a person, for the better, and cinema has been an enormous medium in enabling that change. Movies like Charlie, Malik, 22 female kottayam, Drishyam franchise, Ustad Hotel, The Great Indian Kitchen etc. have brought in visible change in my principles, beliefs and more. I read somewhere that “art changes the fundamental sense of self; translating experiences through space and time and cultures and centuries”. I have wept for hours, reflected inwards, observed outwards, questioned and explored myself and the world, felt grateful/happy and so much more after watching these masterpieces. If this is not the true essence of ART, then I don’t know what is.

This movie is based on a true story Communal riot happend at Beemapally, Trivandrum district on 17th May 2009 between 2.30 pm and 3 pm the police shot and killed six Muslim fishermen, also injuring 52 others. It was the second largest police shooting incident in the history of Kerala state since 1957.

It wouldn't be surprising to say after this movie, undisputed best actor of India during lockdown era is Fahaad Fasil irrespective of the language. Sorry Vijay Sethupati fans.

Just to correct, it is not western Kerala rather south-west coastal region in Trivandrum

The opening sequence was inspired from the opening sequence of the Godfather as Mahesh Narayanan has already stated. The single shot picturisation was perhaps his own idea. There are several Godfather references in the movie. The scene where Sulaiman's son is buried while several people carry out armed attacks is reminiscent of the climax of Godfather wherein it is a scene in a church happening parallel to several of the protagonist's gang members carrying out armed attacks.

Fahaad is not naturally talented. The year's on hardwork and the results should be acknowledged. His first attempt an actor went horribly wrong. He was made a laughing stock in front of everyone. He took a break and worked hard on this acting and skills as an actor to be what he is today.

He won the heart of collector not because it was easy for him ,the collector was working for the govt and the collector was winning his heart to integrate into coastal communities to implement the govt agendas, but later they learnt that he can’t be bought they tried to avoid him ,now regarding the length of the movie trust me there very few movies I would spend time to watch it second time and Malik is one of it.

Some scenes are perfect homage to The Godfather without feeling like a cheap copy and paste. The movie is grand, I wish I could know the language to better submerged in to the movie.

Watched it yesterday night itself movie was extraordinary in story and execution and also felt if this was released in theatre then there would have been so many conflicts to ban or cut some scenes. Felt releasing in ott was a better idea.

The director said if he knew it would be on ott, he would make malik a web series. I would have loved too see that version of malik

Am glad they did cast Vinay Fort, he is such an underrated actor. What else can we say about FAFA, he never fails to mesmerize us.

Where do I even start from!? This is a masterpiece! I don't know how many times am I going to fall in love with FaFa!! He's something phenomenal. I saw the post where he mentioned how they planned for a theatrical release. It would have been magnificent. Malayalam movie industry is hands down the best. I don't remember when was the last time I watched a non malayalam movie. This movie should be watched by everyone. It's not just a marvelous work of art but with beautiful conclusions at so many points.

When the only negative aspect Jammy can come up with in this movie is, how easily the hero tackles one person out of many he comes against during the course of this movie, you just know the movie is EPIC

25 crores and Malayali makers made this masterpiece. I see Telugu makers pouring 100s of crores on pointless shitty and overly cringey shit with a routine stories. I wonder what Malayali makers would have done if they have had that kinda finances and budget.

I think the entire Indian film industry (especially bullywood) should learn from Malayalam cinema. There are quite a lot of malayalam movies with not-so-unique concepts, which are portrayed in a very nuanced manner.

I was there in Trivandrum 92 in my child hood when this incident of poonthura riots happened. I still remember seeing the pictures in news papers of the dead bodies taken out from the coastal strip. The truth is even scarier which I don't want to disclose.

Last night I watched the movie, i did not skip a single second, finished the movie at arround 3 am, there was not more heroic dialogue by fafa his expression spoke more dialogues, clearly he is a gem to indian cinema, just Hollywood level thing.

The fact that Malayalam cinema keeps endings in such a way that it allows its audience to think explore and assume in its own individual thinking Thats the best part of the industry and Fahad Fassil is the most talented actor Joju George is brilliant as always Nimisha Deserves the best she makes you cry and speechless when she is On screen loved the movie

Each and every actor, irrespective of their movie industry, or language should learn from Fahad Faasil. Even for a complete noob like me, who has a little understanding of movies and all, Fahadh Faasil connects on a level that no actor can. His eyes are so filled with emotions. His passion and dedication is so visible in every character he does.

That 12 minute intro shot though! FaFa Supremacy is real!

DOP OP!!!🔥 When the camera was going back and forth during the conversation between Ali Ikka and his sister in the opening sequence, it just told us we are in for a single shot opening here. What a brilliant opening shot, especially going to the first floor and seamlessly coming down to the car area.

The immediate bond between Malik & Collector isn’t surprising. When an individual who might have faced various huddles to become an IAS officers due to his background meets an individual doing good for their community under a grey shade of righteousness, the officer can use his position of power to look the other way temporarily. It is very common in rural or semi urban context of India - be it South, North, East or West of the country Identity = Community = Brotherhood (or bond) Also believe there are references to Mahabharata in Malik’s character. He is Bhishma. Starts off by being a caretaker for this community (Kuru) during this younger days to being the concision keeper of the community in his older age. His (grand) nephew being coxed into killing him to declaring that no man can kill him from his village and hence, the job in a blink of an eye by the opposite sex.

I watched this film before watching/ reading any reviews, to be honest, the viewing experience was comparable to eating at a luxurious 5-star hotel. With sumptuous food and heavenly ambience, but somehow after the meal, when I got home, I didn't feel quite satiated. Everything was brilliant, but something was missing.

I feel like mentioning Fahad as a naturally talented is like undermining his value....he did not have a great start, way back his acting and body language screamed naive and were really bad.....but then the man took a break.... actually tried to learn the aspects of acting and went above and beyond after returning blowing away every single person who criticized him ,and is still continuing to do so.His sheer determination and hard work should not be undervalued by just mentioning it as "naturally talented".The guy has undergone his fair share of experience to reach where he is now.

This movie is great of roshomon effect ,IT shows many perspective of fahad where he struggled in his childhood and trying to help the fisherman community in his area and other perspective of David where he is manipulate by the poltician that because of fahad his community is suffering has fahad is obstruct sea wall and another perspective is the collector for him malik is just a local Don and smuggler who is antisocial .You cannot judge whether fahad is good or bad.

All indians must watch malik movie and watch how malayalis accepted the movie with open hands with out making any conflicts 🔥

The opening shot of the movie is just so brilliant! I was in a dilema to watch the movie full or watch it later as it shows 161 mins but I made a great decision in viewing this brilliant art. The music the bgm the climax and the cinematography is just on larger scale. Only one thing missed was to release it in theatre's it would be great celloulid experience for all!! Fahad no words for him a true gem and he gets into skin of each character so easily!! He's redefining malyalam cinema and his team dileesh and Mahesh!! He's on another level just getting himself to superstardom!!

This Movie is a Pure Cinematic Technical excellence!! A gem of an example of how a biography can be made! The best intro shot sequences ever! The way people in the frame are engrossed in their work in different room. Marvellous!

He is not conventionally good looking but one can't deny that he has striking facial features and unique handsomely face.

Coming from a place near beemapalli in trivandrum … i can say that they have done a lot of homework and hardwork regarding the people there …. They r a very close knit community and they are very suspicios of the govt always .. even covid screening was very difficult ther …. And regarding the chor bazaar in beemapalli … it was very thriving in the 90s and early 2000 …. As iam not part of the community .. i cant verify other things … but the beemapalli police firing seems to be done by the govt and even the collector then said the same … but as people of trivandrum whatever happens whatever manipulation by political parties …. We stick together be it hindu muslim christians
