I love the 16/32-bit "enemy dies with lots of small stock explosions all over them" bit. Very funny, but also genuinely nostalgic and charming.

You know he’s done maliketh so much that he perfectly animated the start of his phase 2 move set.

0:09 At the start of the battle, there's a special dialogue if you've given Gurranq all 9 Deathroot. He remembers you and asks why you would betray him, but still fights you to protect Destined Death. Meaning he's not ungrateful for the Death root, but you're still a scheming little thief trying to kill him for his loot.

"O' Death, become my blade once more" never fails to give me chills. Although, I was kinda hoping to see Carbot use the Blasphemous Claw. Made me feel like a badass when i parried Maliketh with it.

The camera movement of this episode is simply amazing.

Dude, that was legit an outplay. No luck or bullshitting through the fight. I'm so proud of the guy, he really came a long way.

The Mega Man sequences were amazing, I thought I was the only one who felt like Maliketh’s movements came straight out of a Mega Man game🤣😂🤣

You got his fluid cartwheeling animation so perfect man well done.

Really surprised there wasn’t a bit about falling into the hole at the entrance to his fight…..so many people fall to their death right away against him 🤣

BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! The references, the brutality of Maliketh, the Beast clergy man throwing away the deathroot gift because "FUCK YOU! I wanted those in the past/future, not today!" the MMX general theme, and the WICKED COOL strategy the Guy used to beat him.... It was so heroic. I still remember the first episodes where he was so clueless. amazing.

It is quite a sad moment for some people because if you did the Deathroot sidequest he recognizes you and sounds like he feels betrayed. Which we will get to in a bit. 0:11 He is no longer your friend. 0:16 Honestly with how wild he is in this phase I would say he is more of a pain than his second phase. It's so damn wild and it's hard to even see half the time what he is doing. 0:27 Once you get his health low enough you will get a second phase. 0:30 Here it is... my second favorite boss in the game right behind Morgott played INCREDIBLY well by Jonathan Keeble who is one of the most iconic 40k audiobook voices. 0:34 Maliketh the Black Blade. A brother to Marika. Her shadow. Before the creation of Elden Ring there was death in the world. Death controlled and exploited by the leader of Godskin called Dusk Eyed Queen. Godskin killed many Gods and wore their skin as their clothes. Dusk Eyed Queen, their leader was a Empyrean and a rival to Marika over being a new God of Lands Between. Marika then send forth him to beat them. Maliketh even before gaining the power of the Rune of Death was able to beat all of them and as Dusk Eyed Queen was beaten, the rune of death was taken from order of the world and so the Golden Order came to be. A new order. Golden Order. Maliketh was given the Rune of Death which he sealed in his blade and protected it. Until part of it was stolen by daughter of Radagon and Rennala, Ranni. Ranni stole it and gave it's power to the Black Blade Assassins that proceeded to murder many Demigods with Godwyn being their most devastating target which caused Marika to go into despair and break the Elden Ring. Maliketh after this was send to the Farum Azula where he would protect the remaining part, forever in shame over what he did. Over the betrayal of not only Ranni, but Marika herself who used him as nothing more than a tool to seal away Destined Death. And now you are there, another person to betray him, but he will fulfill his purpose and do what was asked of him. It is his duty to the one he cares for more than any other. There is no choice for him here. Only fulfilling of his now senseless duty as the world now is completely broken. As broken as he is now. A blade with a fatal crack in it and is about to break. 0:38 Maliketh is VERY agile fighter. Honestly he has some of the best move set in the entire game with how he jumps around and attacks. If you want advice. You can fight an NPC Bernahl in Farum Azula who gives you the Blasphemous Claw. A claw given to Rykard by Ranni so he can protect himself against Maliketh which could a proof of Rykard having some kind of connection to night of the black blades and Godwyn's death. Enough of a part to put himself as a target not only for Morgott who attacked him with his armies, but for Maliketh to want to kill him. Which as you can see here he probably would. Oh wait. The claw right. Basically that item works like that if you use it when Maliketh's blade glows with gold light you can parry him and deal some big damage to him. 0:46 Here is a moment when I think it would happen, but there is no gold light animated here. It often is at the end of his combos. 0:50 Another quirk of his is that he will put on you a flame that will not only gradually eat your health, but also lower your maximum health so your dodge game better be on point in this fight or you will have a bad time. Also once you die your health will not fully regenerate if it happened so you have to sit at site of grace and then move there if you don't want to waste a flask. Annoying. Also you BETTER take care of the Dragon Knight that stands as a guard to this boss. Will save you headaches. 0:56 And yes. He does have Vergill attacks too. Fromsoft for some reason really enjoy putting them in. 0:58 I know this pain. Switching your items in panic. 1:08 Don't remember now, but I think his projectile attacks don't go through walls. But I could be wrong. 1:21 Actually pretty clever. And summons as a whole can really trivialize so many bosses. Especially mimic tear. AI just can't handle it. 1:28 This is honestly my only issue with this fight. Besides the run up if you did not kill the knight. He has too little health, it's such a good fight and I want more of it. The same problem Morgott has. For some reason From just wants you to quickly get over their best fights, but of course gives so much health to the most infuriating fucking-.... No... We will get there. Oh we will. 1:43 The sword you can build from Remembrance of Maliketh is honestly a very fun large weapon. And the incantation is very good too. I like both and I think this is one of the Remembrances that you want to copy at one of those walking mausoleums.

Imagine if they added a more lore accurate mechanic to him that made it to where if you died to his death blade specifically or one of the black blade assassins, it actually resulted in Perma death and you had to start the entire game over again from scratch
