A new style of event that's been popping up a lot at Mallory in recent times and I have to admit there are some really great heights they could take something like this. Combine it with some racing maybe (for supercars maybe get the Ferrari challenge down here? Maybe CALM All Porsche series or the Lotus series?), get a few more unique hypercars out (it was mostly sportscars really) and just generally stick a few more things on do or see (that isn't crammed into the paddock!) and this has the potential to be something not to miss. It's not faultless. The organisation needs some work with seemingly all of these events as they're not ran by the circuit and whilst this wasn't the comical gridlock disaster that was ShedFest and its traffic management team of 1 dude, it does still show in a few areas! The parking outside the track is a daft idea instead of using the places you usually park at a race weekend and only serves to block the local roads up. Only opening one gate for said spectators an hour or so before it actually starts isn't wise. The lack of info of whats on besides 'Supercar' and no timetable is also no help (although perhaps that is intentional in some ways), making the center of the circuit the big attraction is a daft idea because the bridge is too small, and the amount of people standing in places they shouldn't be when cars were on track whilst the hired security sat and did absolutely nothing (amazing how event staff/security are either needlessly obtuse or useless every single time) could do with being addressed. But I'd argue a lot of these can be fixed with minor tweaks to the layout and how the venue is used. These are raw, unrefined gems of ideas here and I really think with the right amount of polish they could be perfect. I guess it's a little alien to me to see Mallory Park used in a way that doesn't fully make logistical sense to me when the norm is almost perfect. Regardless, this was seriously popular! You don't see crowds like this at Motorsport events anymore unless they are major international ones or the odd national event. So I do hope that revenue goes somewhat in Mallory's pocket and they can pay for a new bridge or maybe some more perimeter road tarmac or something. I think overall I was pleasantly surprised in some ways, and perhaps the event was a little oversold when it came to what was actually there and overly complicated access wise than it need be. But there's a great platform to start with here. So I wish the next one the very best and hope to see it again at Mallory next time
