Brief explanation of the differences between the Malossi MHR Replica Cylinder Range and the Malossi Sport Cylinder Range.
MHR Replica cylinders offer the best of both worlds. Twin ring reliability and low down torque, with the performance of a 9 Port Portmap, nikasil bore and alloy cylinder.
In our experience, the real world difference is between 15% - 20% power increase from Malossi Sport 70cc cylinder to the MHR Replica 70cc Cylinder Range.

lol after 5th try i finally managed to understand that "replica" isnt a racing kit but sort of combination of sport and racing power. And its suitable for low rpm revs (riding around town). thanks for explanation.

Mhr rep still aint good for street, never would recommend any aluminium shit for that. Reason: 1 scraper,last scraper. Cast cylinders are much more durable,forgiving and easy to repair.
@scooterstreetau
@scooterstreetau 3 года назад
@@oliverfuchs4357 That is why they have a Nikasil bore. In our experience, they're far tougher as the cylinder and piston are made from similar metals meaning they expand at the same rate and are far less prone to seizure than a cast iron cylinder. This is why every manufacturer of performance cylinders only uses cast iron in their low end and budget cylinder kits. But really good to hear your experience✌️

@@scooterstreetau What you say is true, in view of performance they are a bit better,on the street however we sometimes get minor problems like leaking oil seals and gaskets ,oilpump problems,cold engine bashing and name what else happens.So a seazure is never too far away,specially if your not spot on mainainance schedules.Aluminium cylinders most of the time get totally wrecked by the slightest one ,while cast can live with a little scratch.The cost of a new bore,hone and piston is also lower as you do not need to plate the bore again.On my ET2 i run a Dr optimized for 45000km now, first bore and second piston.By now you can hear the rings rattle when i let of the throttle ,but it still runs fine.The next step will be to try and get a 49,5bore out of it with a KX85 piston, 44mm crank and the foot of the cylinder machined off by a bit. Will see if it works ,but to me its worth a try.

The kit is way too expensive now compared to what class its in. Malossi have always been one of the most expensive brands,but now the parts is just too expensive. Beside that. Most people where i live (Norway) Dont want anything that may expose them for tuning theyr bikes. So everyone drives around with Touring type exhaust. Basicly stock type exhaust,only slightly better. A MHR Replica kit runs pretty horrible on these exhaust,compared to lets say the little brother (Malossi Sport) but also types like Polini Sport, DR Evolution ++ For more purists the MHR Replica doesnt really shine in any of the categories (Sport = Street) or Racing. Its a nice kit,but who is it really for? And for that price you can look at Stage6 kits for much better price,and they offer far better performance out of the box. And what the point in the so-called durability,when firstly it seizures just as easily if youre not really good with the carb tuning. (99,8% of all 2T seizures comes from faulty carb settings in my opinion) Get a Sport kit if you want more from your scooter. Better for your wallet. Its a really nice power/cost ratio,and the longevity is propably double the MHR Replica kit. (And it runs better through most RPMs except the highest ones) My personal favorite is the DR Evo kit (TP Trophy) Combine with a 17,5mm - 19mm carb and a Leo Vince Touring or similar. Runs 90km/h with a pretty sick acceleration. Sounds basicly stock,and keeps the popo away.

The situation you describe is entirely similar in The Netherlands. Perhaps even stricter with regular mini dyno police controls. Scooter goes over 55 km/h ur fucked (need a re- MOT check) We also prefer DR or s6 streetrace (its the fastest cast iron "sport" kit with 17,5 - 19mm and touring exhausts (sito+). That being said if u search around u can get this MHR Replica also for around 200-220 in Europe. For that price its a nice long lasting kit with nicasil and 2 piston rings. Shame it doesnt run great on the touring exhausts really.

That ist true - if you want to run the bike on european streets - you don´t want to wake up every special police group within 10 miles if you only start your bike. You need some sort of understatement-bike. Should look ugly, like grandpa´s old scooter ... top-case behind you. Should sound like 40ccm if possible...so no sport - exhaust but a good silent touring one. And it is much more fun to see the other bikers on their scooters with open jaws, when you drive by with a smile on your face on your old, ugly scooter and they can´t catch you.

Thats a silly idea you don't know what size jet or rollers you will need until you decide what kit you are going with. For most scooters used everyday I recommend the stage 6 Street race cylinder as its reliable and pretty powerful matched with a yasuni z pipe and a 17.5mm carb it is a great everyday set up
@scooterstreetau
@scooterstreetau 3 года назад
I definitely would not recommend putting a Carrera 16 on a 50cc factory cylinder. That exhaust is designed for use on a mid-race bridge port cylinder kit such as an MHR or Stage 6 MKII Racing or higher as it requires very high RPM for the extraction chamber to work. You would be far better served installing a Yasuni Z or Arrow Extreme with the factory cylinder, or installing a mid-race cylinder kit with the Carrera.

I want to gain max power on lower rpm and get best of speed with some of "street legal" exhaust for start. I prefer deep, sillent sound. What u would recomend for 70cc cylindres? Malossi Sport, Malossi MHR Replica or Dr.Evo with one of listed exausts: Gianelli GO, Stage 6 Street, Leovince Touring, Tecnigas Silent Pro or something else. In basic, I like to glide, 50-70km/h, saving engine life, saving gas but also use al revs when I need ones... ( im 110kg).... Any other toughts are welcome... Ty.

All of the performance pipes create larger noise. I like the Malossi Wild Lion. Polini, Gia Go and Tecnigas also make this style and the sound is similar to the standard pipe, with increase performance. not too light on the rollers, this will help cruise.

We apporach this with the age of the engine in mind. The factory crank will handle the Sport cylinders, BUT! the age and condition of the bearings, seals and chrankshaft should be of above average condition. The MHR rep will require small end bearing change at regular kms.

The needle controls the fuel delivery as it opens. Try one jet size in all needle clip positions as you get closer to the final result. You may find the needle needs to be replaced for that finer feel.@@dtnz3294

You sure can, you just need to use a special head gasket that comes in the Malossi 116923 kit. This is the gasket kit for the Malossi headless sport kit, designed to allow the use of teh factory head. You cannot use the factory head without this gasket, it ensures a good seal and correct squish tolerance.

@@scooterstreetau Is it just a weird thing in the english language to call aluminium "alloy"? I hear "alloy rims" all the time as well.

It is called an alloy because the cylinder is made of aluminum and silicon. Aluminum is rarely pure in structural applications. The term alloy means that the metal has been combined with two or more metallic elements.
