Holi is by far one of the most loved festivals in India and why not! It's a celebration of the spirit of people.
Holi brings people close and don’t you think having sweets together would be even more fun and satisfying if they’re vegan.
We tried our hand at making Malpua this Holi and it turned out so good! It’s easy to make and won’t take a lot of your time, meaning you’ll also have enough to play with colours.
Mapua Ingredients:
1/3 cup Atta / Whole Wheat Flour
1/4 cup Sooji / Semolina
1 tsp. Cardamom Powder
1 tbsp. Fennel Seeds
Coconut Milk to make batter
Coconut oil or any other oil to fry
Recipe:
Mix all the dry ingredients and add mik little by little to avoid lumps. We need batter to be of medium consistency. Let it rest for 20 minutes. Fry in coconut oil on medium heat by pour about 1/2 cup of batter in the middle of the frying pan. Let the malpuas soak in the sugar syrup for a few minutes. Garnish with nuts and enjoy!
Syrup Ingredients:
1 cup Water
2 cups Sugar
1/4 tsp. Cardamom powder
Few strands of Saffron
Take a frying pan add water, sugar, cardamom, and saffron. Cook till sugar dissolves.
