Haven't seen this at any of the local retailers yet, but what you describe sounds like a very good younger whisky. When carefully crafted, younger whisky can have bright, lively flavor notes that make them an interesting contrast to older spirits. Good review!
Informative review as ever, never tasted this one but will consider, have just finished a Clynlish 14 which I must say was very enjoyable. Discovered your channel back several months ago and look forward to every alert of a new review posting keep up the good work 👏
Nice review buddy, only Ardnamurchan I've had so far has been a Luvians single cask sample actually, which was quite wonderful. I've wanted to try more, but somewhat similar to Waterford the sheer volume of different releases has been a bit much. Not to mention the problems even getting hold of them. Glad that they have finally now turned towards a core single malt out of their different batches (like Dingle too). Sounds like a lovely drop, I'll have to look towards grabbing a bottle. Lot of wonderful new distilleries in Scotland and Ireland showing what quality young spirit can do.
Hey Andy. Chuffed you got hold of a bottle 🤓 The core AD/ is now much easier to find on shelves around the world which I think is great. Means I can tell my non whisky geek friends to go and buy a bottle without any hassle. 🥃🌾
I’ve been dipping into this bottle on and off for a month now and I’m still struggling to connect with it. I can tell there’s something good in there but it’s still spirity and hot to my palate. I’m going to leave for a month or two to see if it opens up and relaxes a bit more. Maybe I’m just not quite ready for it.
I have a bottle marked just as yours. I must say I cannot detect any peat smoke at all. To me, I get fresh sun dried linens, or bedsheets. Honey. Vanilla biscuits. Under-ripe pear. There is also an unidentified 'funkiness', like a warm body. Phermones? So, almost erotic. I could understand if somebody else suggested 'dirty laundry'. I assume that is the malt. I avoid the heavies entirely and keep my peated needs to the likes of Benromach, both 10 and 15, but preferably the latter. The Ardnamuchan is okay, but I was more pleased with the Old Pulteney 12 I picked up later.
The AD/ or ADCB 042202 is a 2015/2016 vintage. Scan the QR code on the back of the bottle for complet transparancy of it's content. I have bottle 856/25200.
