Are you a fan of Game of Thrones? Remember that scene in season 1, where Khal Drogo presents a white horse to his new Khaleesi, Daenerys? Well, that was filmed on Gozo, in case you didn't know!
The backdrop was the spectacular Azure Window. On 8 March 2017, this Azure Window collapsed into the sea, between the Blue Hole and the Inland Sea dive sites. It created a new dive site, the Azure Alps.
These underwater peaks still retain a bit of that yellow-white sheen, they're sharper and look a bit out of place in amongst the rest of the underwater topography.
The marine life is slowly taking possession, and divers can already enjoy some excellent swimthroughs. Here is a video of a very fishy dive quite a few weeks ago now. Two days late it might be, but still a great occasion to mark the anniversary of the collapse.
