I was seriously confused about how this was supposed to work when I saw the thumbnail, and then he turned one of the sides and my mind was blown. It's amazing how someone can come up with something like this.
Now that this puzzle has been mass produced i realize how hard it is It took me 2 weeks to solve, needless to say its staying that way for a very long time
I finally got around to finishing the assembly of mine. I have it scrambled now, and it is fantastically difficult. It is like the WitEden Mixup Plus, but every move scrambles all the edges, centers, and gears in the linked middle slice. I'm working on coming up with some commutators to isolate and cycle pieces, but they will be extremely long. This puzzle is great!
Thank you for the compliment. You will be surprised to feel how smoothly these 3D-printed puzzles turn in your hand. They only need some "acoustic designing", as they sound so much worse than they feel.
The geared parts on the maltese are exactly like upgrade parts the geared mixup plus with the added difficulty of them actually turning, so any formulas with tri-sicles carry over. Really fun to solve
Thank you for the big compliment. Do not expect this puzzle to be ever mass-produced, it is far too complex. But other puzzles of mine are mass-produced. Oskar
I really love your channel. The puzzles are just so brilliant and elegant that I want them just for the fantastic design. they are works of art, in the original sense of the word. (plus, the fact that you film outside with snow and all is hilarious)
ALL shapeways 3D printed puzzles sound like this. I don't own any, but every video you watch that shows one, has exactly the same sound. From what people say who own them, the turning is generally better than you would think, especially after breaking in
I saw this on redKB's channel and this is by far my favorite one that I've seen. It really stands out, even out of the other geared cubes you made. The gears look like flowers and it just works so well with this cross. It is both a piece of art in engeneering and aesthetically. I wish this one was mass produced as well since I could never afford the 3D printed one.
Hey Oskar.. this seems to be a very challenging puzzle. have you ever considered making tutorials for these?.. not necessarily in video format. Btw beautiful design.
Oskar, I just thought about something that I think would be good on 3x3's if you add a very bendable sheet of plastic at the corners, so that it will sit between the edges and centers, and this will cause the edges to very softly rotate with the corners, increasing things like stability and cornercutting. Do you think it's a chance this concept could work at all, or am I losing my mind?
+Oskar Puzzles can you make a void speed cube im trying to make one and i call it Gavin's cube well mostly it fails what i do is i take of the pieces of my void cube and put some the gears from my gear cube and it fails can you help me out
