Guys, I've eaten at Jaihind as well as Chaitanya. Chaitanya is hands down the best for Malvani, because it exactly has the food that you're going to find in a typical Malvani household. Enjoyed the video thoroughly, considering their Special Prawns Thali is my go to meal there.

Aagri prawns comes from aagri cuisine which is different from malwani ...malwani being from the sindhudurg district of konkan region....( malwani is also the dialect of this region)...where as aagri food is from Thane , palghar ,raigad and mumbai area of konkan ... Belonging to the aagri community ....which overlaps with koli cuisine....!!!

You guys are spot on about your verdict on Jai Hind...This used to be legend buy sadly have not maintained the consistency they once used to...Chaitanya which is relatively a newer place as compared to Jai Hind have climbed up the ladder and is presently ruling the Malvani cuisine in the Dadar - Mahim belt...You guys rock👍

My roommate was friends with the owner, so i happened to stay at their place in malvan and evr had i had such good seafood and malvani cuisine. They have great variety of dishes and the flavours are immense.. super place to visit and would suggest everyone to visit any Chaitanya franchise you can.

4:50 and then I knew it's not original malvani cuisine. We don't use Tamarind for sourness, we use Kokam. Malvani people always use Kokam unless they can't find it anywhere. But if she can bring water from Malvan she could easily bring kokam as well.

Great review guys... We the locals know that jai hind went down the drain a long time ago and stopped going there completely..still they have good tawa prawns and bharleli bombil still relishable.. Chaitanya is more authentic and yummy.. there are alot of excellent places in Thane west for Malvani seafood..I can suggest you places for the next 100 episodes 😉😎... Love your videos especially the Goa Tamil table one ... The fun you had with rocky and Mayur... 👍

Bros first this is the second restaurant in Maharashtra The original is located at Malvan in Malvan Bazaar and their taste is slightly different than dadar as the water changes the taste

Chaitanya towers over Jaihind.... neither do your stomach go bad even if you seldom eat malvani or your palette is not used to malvani food...eat non veg food from other hotels and stomach goes awful...chaitanya food is really scrumptious and tasty....

Just letting everyone know malvani food is from a district called sindhudurg. The southern most district of maharashtra. And malvan is just a town in Sindhudurg.✌🏻

Agreed, Chaitanya hands down better than Jai Hind. In case you want to try another malvani gem, do visit Satkar Rice Plate, Goregaon East. Proper hole in the wall place.

Jai Hind is not that famous for Malvani cuisine instead of that u shud visit HOTEL SINDHUDURGA near shivaji park police station. Chaitanya is really gud I have been there.

Hi Shashank and Sid, I rarely leave comments, but you guys deserve it. I find you guys describe the good, the bad and ugly (vis a vis the food, and much more) better than Rocky and Mayur. It's spot on and so thanks for your honest take. Thanks also for show casing the best of the best food available (Please do more such comparisons of restaurants in Mumbai). A little warning - the day you start praising something that does not deserve it, it will be the beginning of your downfall. I will clarify the confusion. Konkan is divided into 4 districts, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri n Sindhudurg. Predominantly, Sindhudurg's language n food is identified as Malwani. Also, there is town n taluka in Sindudurg known as Malwan. As Sindhudurg is closest to Goa, their food culture is similar to Goan. Hope this clarifies.

Once we visited jai hind as my friends want to eat malvani food i told them let's go to dadar chaitanya but visited this jai hind restaurant their surmai never taste like surmai as I am malvani eating surmai every week and their solkadi was mixed with water i asked them if they have mixed water they told no , than I told i drink it every weekends at my home after non veg meal but they denied and I told them their fish font taste like surmai but it taste like popat fish ,

Love your show guys. Jai Hind has always been overrated. Chaitanya has amazing food hands down. Two other comparable joints that come to mind are Gomantak opp Shivaji Mandir and Kshirsagar near Lower Parel station 👍 Regards, A Malvani chap 😉
