She makes the cutest “chirp” noise.

The fact she was never afraid of y'all and chirped plus her letting you help her through labor makes me think she was someone's pet that was abandoned.

I think a mother cat kneads while in labor because it is a way to self-soothe. Helps with the pain.

You can see how grateful she is that she was rescued. She knows she is loved.

I've NEVER known a cat that would let ANYONE touch their pregnant belly. She is such a sweet cat

Ok, "mama pasta" is a hell of a name, as italian i can guarantee.

Her voice is somewhere between a trill, a chirp and purring. It really is very cute.

I received a kitten to raise. Her eyes weren’t even starting to open. She cried unless I held her. So my solution was to put her in my bra. It worked beautifully. I could do housework while making her more comfortable. She lived to be 18 yrs old. I miss her so much.

Cat has a really huge trust if it let's to touch newborns without hostility.

You know what I find cute? The fact the mom cat is Mama Pasta and the kittens are named after types of pasta.

Her kneading was comforting her while in pain.

She had been homeless and pregnant. That's a horrifically terrifying scenario. Then, you swoop in and rescue her, save her, and give her a loving, warm, and safe place. I have no doubt she was absolutely joyous and grateful to give birth in such a place. With her own little nesting box too! My cat used my underwear drawer to deliver. I woke up for school one day and found six fluffy jellybeans and Tiny just chilling in a pile of my underwear and socks.

Long before Cats were seen as "agents of evil", there was an old custom, in many different societies, where Midwives would find a cat in labour (there were so many cats living around "castles" and closely built communities that invariably, they would find one!) and bring her to have her kittens next to a birthing woman, to show her how how happy and calm the cat remained during labour. The cats purring would have also helped bring down the woman's heart rate, blood pressure, and anxiety levels as well. This may be why many Pre-Christian Goddesses of fertility and childbirth were closely associated with cats. Even the cat-headed Bast of ancient Egypt, was a Goddess of Mothers and small children.

I also had a pregnant stray show up at my doorstep one winter night. After I let her in, she explored my home and picked a closet. I lined the closet with some old towels and rags, she had her kittens the next day.

This chirping noises are the cutest cat gift, after the purring. Love her color and look. Very well tempered kitty. Happiness and love for you all.

Mama Pasta is exactly like my first rescue, she was pregnant too. She too was just the sweetest cat, and the best mum. We also lost a kitten, and my heart goes out to your family, and Mama Pasta. I was devastated. I've never in my life let out such a mournful wail before or since. What made it difficult was Loon, the mum, kept meowing and looking for her. I couldn't help but cry so many nights. It's really difficult and it seems so unfair, too unfair. I can't think of any bright side to it honestly, it's just the worst. I was grateful the rest of the kittens were happy and healthy, and just like their mama. May Mama Pasta and her carbokittens live amazing full, happy, healthy, and vibrant lives! Usually they don't like humans to touch their newborns. She's been through it all being out in the streets. I think she had learned a different way. Good for her. Kudos to you.

Cats make biscuits when they’re in pain just as when they’re happy, so it was probably from pain. But she looked very happy to have you right by her side during the birthing process! 😻

The fact she is so friendly seems to point to the sad fact that her owners tossed her out when they found her to be pregnant. (Although had they #1 had her spayed or #2 kept her indoors it wouldn't have happened). I'm so happy she found you!

Even when pregnant, she exposed her belly towards the people, that's a lot of trust and knew that they aren't going to hurt her or her kittens

Pastaling update: Angel Hair was adopted not long ago, Orzo is up for adoption now, and Mama Pasta will be up soon. Macaroni sadly lost her battle with a birth defect and joined her brothers, Alfie and Bowie over the rainbow bridge. Edit: Mama is now up for adoption and doing well!

Our neighbors’ cat comes over to sleep and eat, and she looks like this without being pregnant. Are they all named after pasta 😂😂

I've always said that animals can sense the good in people.. Mama Pasta not being afraid was her knowing they're there to help.

Reminds me of my cat Thomas. We got it from a shelter and was just a few days old and the guy told us it was a male. One day when we came home we found Thomas had 6 kittens! Tried to change her name to Susie but she responded only to Thomas. Well done mama!

I love the "Hey Mama" and the Mom cat being like "Oh, Hey! Lemme get up for scritch-oh....ah...right um, can you maybe pet me from there? I'm currently an active pasta buffet."

When my sisters and I were in our teens our cat didn't want to go in labor without having us around. As soon as we left her to give her privacy and let nature take its course she came after us to call us back. So we did our homework right next to her and pet her, comfort her. Nice memories.

kitty is very happy that she doesn't have to give birth somewhere outside and her fragile kittens are not in danger. she got really lucky with people who rescued her, they deserve a big gratitude

This lady’s right, I’ve never seen a cat, let alone any pregnant female living being, so happy during labor, I’ve seen it being pain and agony all up to the point where the babies are out, but this mama? Making fresh bread really calmed those nerves

she was probably self soothing and aiding her contractions by bearing down by pulling and pushing those muscle groups to make biscuits ( kneading ) and by purring and such, as that can help a cat self soothe as well as indicate she felt safe and secure to give birth , such a booful mama girl and babies i hope all live along healthy happy life !!

That is super rare! I've helped in multiple births, none of the mothers made biscuits, all of them yowled when popping out those fuzzy little gumdrops. Mama truly is one of a kind!

I remember when our cat had kittens. I was resting and she jumped up on the bed, a little distressed and confused. She passed a little liquid and it was clear the kittens were on the way. We made a hasty little nesting area in a cupboard using a stool, a bath towel and flat cushion with an old towel folded over it. Three kittens were born and all three survived - the Corona kitties, we called them, conceived because we couldn't get Mama sterilised because of the first quarantines. One kitten we gave away to our aunt, two we still have at home. They are already cats now. 😸

This is a special Cat, most moms would scratch anyone that would dare come near them.

The loss of a kitten is a very scaring thing. I endured 4 still births and 4 kitten deaths. They remain in your memory and heart cause they died so young. At least their living siblings helps the pain.

What a lovely story. On Christmas Eve of 2018 a lovely cat walked by my kitchen and when I caller her, she didn't hesitate for a second and came in to have some lunch. On Christmas morning she showed up again and something to eat but didn't leave. I was happy celebrating Christmas with my daughter and didn't pay much attention to "the pretty cat". After my daughter left, I went to my bedroom and "the pretty cat" was looking so at home sleeping on my bed. Took her to the vet to see if she had a chip but she didn't, so she stayed with me. A few weeks later I started to notice that Christy -that's her name, was getting bigger and bigger. On February 28, 2019 she had 5 boys. All healthy boys. I found 4 good homes for four of the kittens and I kept one of them. The two keep me quite busy but I love them dearly. Most of the time, they get along very well and I wonder if Christy knows that she is Davy's mom. She never starts eating until I also feed Davy who is on a diet because he is 9 kilos.

I say a prayer every night during my night time prayers. Regarding people like you that save and love animals. Thank you so very much.

It's amazing how animals instinctively know to nurse when their born.

That is a smart mother protecting her brood. You say she was in bad shape and flee ridden, but that cat was focused, and when you came along she knew what the deal was. Did what she had to do, good kitty.

I had a preg cat do an amazing thing, Callie was owned by people in the rented house next door. The kept saying they were going to have her fixed BUT after a few months they moved out leaving her. I did what I could to care for her AND soon found out she was NOT fixed! She was living in the shed on the property and I had fixed a large box for her. One day I saw the first contraction hit her and I knew as she did, it was time. She had planned to go under the house to have the kittens because it was a safe place but she wanted me with her. She went to the crawl space opening and stopped and looked at me, asking, "Here RIGHT???" I looked at her and said, "Kitten, I can't fit under there!" She looked around in a panic like "Where then?" I grabbed her and took her to the box in the shed and that is where she had her kittens. She had changed her plans to accomidate a human.

When she was naming the kittens, after the second one I went "oh my goodness. She is naming them after different types of pasta. Awesome!"

One day when I was still in my bed , my female cat just entered into the sheets to give birth...I loved my cat far more at that moment to show me such confidence and she even gave me its paw to comfort it when she was feeling pain.

Thx for all you do, we’ve done rescue in our neighborhood and know how much dedication it takes. In the end, we had 14 cats after all but a few babies went to no kill shelters and on to homes. 17 years later, we have 5 left, and we are such a close family. They’ve brought love and happiness into our lives, lessons in unconditional love…how to earn trust, and give respect to such amazing dedicated creatures! A gift to my son with special needs for sure!💕
