Absolutely Adorable!!! 🍼🧸Thanks for a wonderful video and awesome tips!!!🤗 I love the nostalgia of the tag line “Mama/ Momma Knows Best!”, the house phone, your beautiful sweater, the wig stand and floral arrangement. It’s everything I grew up seeing as a child! And I LOOOVE IT!!! Thanks for sharing!😘❤️🥰
I made this burp cloth today. It was so very easy. I had no trouble with the dye bleeding. I did make sure to rinse and hand wash and rinse again real well. It turned out adorable and was so very easy to make. Thank you so much for sharing this idea. :)
This is a fantastic video and looks so easy. I love the part about dying the diapers. I haven't dyed things since back in the 70's. Thought it was a lost art.
From 2017 - Thank you so much for this tutorial. I haven't sewn in 20 + years and wasn't that great at it, then! LOL Your explanation and GREAT up-close, in focus photography is so very helpful. I am definitely a new subscriber.
I love your Featherweight ! I think it is adorable 💞 I learned on a singer 100 anniversary machine, no bells no whistles! Great Machines!!!!!! Cute burp cloths!!! Love the video 🎞
Thank you so much for your tutorials! I am a total sewing newbie (even though in my 40's) and I'm loving learning so much and being able to make gifts for our grandkids! Thanks for making it seem so simple!
You are delightful to watch. I have watched OH SO MANY tutorials...but you are great. Informative and it shows how much you love/care about your projects.
Why did it take me so long to find you? Great idea, and they look so cute! Will be a Great grandma soon, so I'll be busy sewing these. Thank you for sharing.
So cute…. We’ve got lots of great nieces and nephews coming into the family this year and into the next. Will have to give this a go.. And that sewing machine!! 😍😍😍😍
I loved this because I think what I have are the same as you have in this video. They came from Walmart, 10 to a pack and they are so very thin I didn't know what to do with them until now. Thank you so much!
You on that cute little featherweight! Was half watching til I heard your machine and had to look. I have 7 bigger vintage machines, but my featherweight is out there somewhere!
Laura, Use Therm O Web Heat N Bond on the back of the fabric (it has a paper backing, so you can draw on it or trace your image), then cut it out. Following manufacturer's instructions, heat set it to the burp cloth. I like to use a zig zag stitch around the edge of the applique for an nice finished look. Happy Sewing- Ana
I will try these but add a bit of batting for extra absorbency, which I have done before, but I like your instructions and have never dyed anything before
Thank You Janelle! You may want to check out my blog project on making flannel receiving blankets. They make great gifts, too! Here is a link to my blog: givemeglitter.com/anas-colorful-double-backed-flannel-baby-recieving-blanket/ Please let us know what you would like to learn to make and it just might become an episode on Mama Knows Best!
WOW thank you so much for this tutorial it's so cool! I just love how clear is this video the best one I have seen for sewing I just love High Definition videos. I will be making a few of this for sure
Thanks! First grandchild in June! However, since I have been making bibs, I am fitting in friends and family! Do you ever cut the diaper to make a smaller cloth? I have been putting flannel on back of bibs.
Thanks for your easy to follow instruction, Would you please let me know where to get the gauge from? This is what I was looking for in my entire life!
Nice little project, but I would love to know where you got that sewing machine and how old is it? Man, I'd love to have one like that that worked that well.
Your tutorial is great - I think you could buy diaper fabric and just double it when making these or do you think it is cheaper to buy the pre folded diapers. I saw diaper fabric for 2.98 a meter today
I would hate to have anything home dyed on something that a baby will be putting his or her face and mouth on... white is fine.. and best for baby... sorry if this bursts anyones bubble.. but the baby is the concern here.. and yes.. it will potentially bleed every time you put it in the wash..
Would never make again. I was so excited to make these burp clothes but even though I dyed the diapers according to directions and used salt to set, I had to wash and dry the diapers 5-6 times to get rid of the extra color. I even purchased the Color Grabber sheets in the dryer sheet section at store to catch any bleeding. I didn't want the dye to get on the other fabric I was using and certainly not on other clothes my daughter would be washing with the burp clothes. The burp clothes may look great and she liked them but I certainly would not try again.
Yes, I have used the pre-folded diapers! All you have to do is dye them and add a cuff on one end of the diaper. Note they will be a littler shorter than the non-folded diapers.
When Creativity Knocks thanks, sounds like the diapers you use may be the better way. I think i would prefer the longer ones. Thanks, i'm going to be Great Grandma for the first time and want to make special things.
