Mama Melrose’s is an original restaurant from the early years of Disney-MGM Studios now Disney's Hollywood Studios. Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano was initially planned to be part of a Muppet-themed area called Great Gonzo’s Pizza Pandemonium Parlor. After the Muppet theme was dropped, the restaurant was reimagined with a backstory involving a young Italian girl who dreamed of Hollywood fame but found her passion in cooking. The restaurant’s full name is a nod to the founder’s nickname, Mama Melrose, which she earned due to her larger-than-life personality. The interior Mama Melrose decor is a colorful tribute to the classic Italian eateries and the glitz of Hollywood at Walt Disney World. Reservations are recommended but walk up is often available. Mama Melrose does do a fantasmic dining package.
